AIBU to continue turning in the school gate?

I drive my dd to school everyday and once I drop her off I turn around and drive home. I approach the back gate of the school and use this entrance to turn my car round so I can head back home.
The school have now put up a sign saying keep our children safe, no stopping, dropping off or turning in the entrance.
So where am I supposed to turn around? If I carry on I reach the front gate which is busier and has the busses. If I turn before I reach the back entrance I am doing a three point turn in busy school run traffic with lots of children walking and cycling.
So AIBU to say I am safest turning in the large double gate and ignoring the new sign?

Once my youngest reached 11 I parked on a side road near school and they walked to & from there.

Basically I went up one road, turned right into the side road and turned right again at the end of it which meant I was facing home again

Was that side road a 2 mile walk from the school?

But two miles isn’t that far for a secondary school age child to to walk

Most people would baulk at adding 40 minutes to their commute nowadays if there are alternatives, because time is tight. It probably means everyone getting up and leaving at least half an hour earlier and in any case may not be doable if they have a lot of stuff to cart about.

I'm not suggesting OP should keep turning in the back entrance. I'm saying that the "just stop in a side street" solution is not an alternative that virtually anyone on here would actually do in this scenario.

Is there anyone on this thread who is aware of anywhere in the UK that has a busy town/suburb with shops, businesses and houses but NO side roads within 2 miles?

I'll wait.....

This is what I don’t get.

No state secondary schools are literally in the middle of nowhere they are in villages at least. If it’s private they would have something sorted for drop offs and wouldn’t put arsey notes out.

I live in a rural area drive dd2 7 miles to a comp in a big village. I drop her the other side of the main road in a housing estate. Because it’s in a village. I don’t buy it at all. There are parents, kids, busses and cars literally scrumming by the main entrance though. Arguably it’s faster for me to go in that side but it’s really frightening, I stick to mainstream.

There may be side roads, but none that are suitable for the OP’s precious car and Very Important Commute, @AnnaQuayInTheUk.

With a very narrow valley!

The OP reeks of entitled motornotrmativity

That sign is actually a declaration of war on you.

What you need to do is to rip it down, go onto the school premises with it, and smash it through a closed office window.

Once you do that, they will start to treat you the way you deserve.

What amazes me is that there are well over 100 people here who think like the OP does.

Drive near any school at the start or end of the day and you will easily find the people who don’t think the rules apply to them!

Clearly there just wasn't enough room on the sign to include Ms entitled Nortonbuns but I'm sure that's what they intended.
