Sell the story, if so to who?

I'm unsure about this but I'm on dating sites and as we all know it's full of parasites.

I was speaking to an elected councillor who I thought was decent, he sent me nudes, vulgar text etc. He swiftly deleted it but it's really wrong, I have screenshot etc. He was disgusting.

I'm not on about selling per se for money but we shouldn't have creeps like this representing us.

Is his conduct on a dating site / WA relevant though? That's my question.

Right, so local councillor whose face, name, and apparently personal number are out there. Are on a dating site, and sending women filthy messages/nudes?...

On Whatsapp which you can save pics/screenshot. Not via Snapchat (which wouldn't leave a trace). I'm not exactly buying this story, and I don't think the Sun would either 😆

Neither was I which was why I thought it was a fake account.

I don't trust you to be honest - you sound like you lured him in for nefarious reasons. Your post isn't worded particularly eloquently. I'm not buying your 'i don't want money ' line.

You stalked him and encouraged him to send pics for all we know.

He probably sorts who collects your green bin on a Thursday. Nobody will particularly care and will skip straight to 'births marriage and deaths' in your local rag after reading your story, to see if Margaret from number 4 died.

Stop playing games and move on.

ACynicalDad · 18/03/2025 21:02

The order blog might be interesting or point you in a suitable direction. Private Eye too.

PerkingFaintly · 18/03/2025 21:02

Whatever you do DO NOT FORWARD THE NUDE PICTURES to anyone.

I'm pretty sure that's an offence in itself, and one which has landed well-meaning people in huge trouble.

If you want to alert the council or the police (which might be appropriate), just state in words that they are nude pics.

They do

I have just checked the list on my council website

not one single mobile number. All landlines or email

Edited

Just checked several of my local councils, including the group leader for one party. Loads of mobile numbers.

PerkingFaintly · 18/03/2025 21:03

IANAL, and I'll happily stand corrected, but I just wanted to get in quickly to stop you doing that until you've had time to check the legal situation about sending nudes.

I've not lured him into anything, and this is why women who are victims get blamed.

So when he started the vulgar chats, you said 'no, I'm not interested', and blocked him I assume?

You didn't think that you'll continue and 'sell' your story, as your title suggests?

Why would you think about 'selling' your story instead of making a complaint to the council and police? Would this not be more appropriate, as action can be taken against him should the police deem necessary?

Be very, very careful as this could backfire hugely if you go public. If he is found to have done nothing wrong, I'd be pressing charges against you for slander and possibly stalking. Go down the proper channels if you really believe he did wrong and make an official statement against him.

Don't embarrass yourself.

What party?
That'll influence price and what paper will be interested.

fgs the op has repeated herself on every reply!

rtft!!!!!!

Traitorrotiart · 18/03/2025 21:07

I would say to first think of this if the genders were the other way around.

If you were male and you had got chatting to a woman on a dating site and then hunted for her number and text her and she sent nudes of herself and you were considering sharing them … well, you would be flamed for even thinking of it .

What did he do that was so wrong, that’s what to consider . Unsolicited nudes are not nice, but people do it. Did you ask him to stop and he didn’t ? Did he say anything that you find concerning ? Did the discussion go down a dark path that makes you think he’s dangerous ? If yes to any of these then it changes things. However , if it’s not then he’s a person who’s allowed to be interested in sex .. does he deserve to have his career ruined because of it?

what specifically has he done that has made you think he shouldn’t be in his position ?

Wintersgirl · 18/03/2025 21:08

OP you keep digging around for the answers you want to hear about selling your story, you ask "would anyone be interested in this?" That statement says to me it's all about the cash, If you really want to stop this man in his tracks stop trying to fish for the big scoop (which it isn't) and go through the proper channels and report him

Quitelikeit · 18/03/2025 21:08

I don’t think it’s illegal to send nude images of yourself in the slightest

But so gross when you didn’t invite it

I guess the local newspaper might take it off your hands for free

or maybe you could put on twitter

They'll be their work phones not their personal ones. I have one in a very mediocre job, lots of people do!

OK, some info, dated January 2024:

Illegal sexual behaviour online including sharing and threatening to share intimate images and cyberflashing targeted in new CPS guidance
https://www.cps.gov.uk/cps/news/illegal-sexual-behaviour-online-including-sharing-and-threatening-share-intimate-images
Cyberflashing typically involves sending an unsolicited sexual or nude image to victims via social media or dating apps, [...] The Online Safety Act has criminalised this behaviour and the Crown Prosecution Service will now be able to hold offenders to account through the court of law.

From the same link:
The act of disclosing private sexual photographs or films with intent to cause distress - commonly referred to as ‘revenge porn’ - has been illegal in England and Wales since 13 April 2015. The Domestic Abuse Act 2021 amended legislation on 29 June 2021 to extend the existing offence to include the specific act of threatening to disclose this type of material. The Online Safety Act repealed the offence of disclosing private sexual photographs and films and replaced it with sharing and threatening to share intimate images.

Look.

If someone had behaved unlawfully, indecently or inappropriately the way forward is via the proper channels.

The police, the leader of the council, the chair of the local branch of his political party.

Make an official complaint, properly.

JanglingJack · 18/03/2025 21:12

If you go ahead with this, expect it to come back and have anything you've sent to him scrutinised too.

Just from what you've said here - your search history will show that you've sought out who he is and his position and then posted here about who to sell it to.

Both wrong IMO.

It's hardly the Profumo affair. It could still ruin lives and careers, if thats your objective.
