Would you consider this “having stuffed yourself all day”

I was talking to a friend and she accused me of competitive underrating, which i certainly was not doing! I referred to my eating as having stuffed my face all day and she told me to get a grip and she found what I said triggering!

What I ate:

  • Scrambled eggs (2 eggs) with veggies toasted sarnie
  • Beans on toast (2 slices)
  • Half a carton of precut pineapple
  • chicken wings and celery with hot sauce
  • a child’s plate of ravioli and homemade cheese sauce (this was on top off my dinner and purely a craving, I was full so it was very much not needed)

I went to bed uncomfortably stuffed. So to me i did “stuff my face all day”

What do you think?

@ThatJolly did you say what you had for dinner ? I know you said child proton of pasts on top of dinner

ThatJolly · 17/03/2025 12:47

BlueBatsAndBakewellTarts · 17/03/2025 12:43

No, because then she would have ordered something else with less carbs. She ordered NO food.

If there was something I fancied I would have eaten. I was hoping the cafe would have one of their nice nicoise but they were out of tuna. So I thought i’d make one at home (which I did). And with potatoes

So if you have two slices of toast for breakfast

A sandwich for lunch

Pasta for dinner

Which is what MILLONS of normal sized children and adults have probably several days a week

That's more food than you need? It could be as little as 1000 calories.

Kindly engage with reality.

That is a very large amount of carbs for one day.

KaliforniaDreamz · 17/03/2025 12:47

Yes, not to mention BORING.

Growlybear83 · 17/03/2025 12:47

Of course that’s not stuffing yourself all day! 😆😆😆. I think your friend was completely justified in what she said.

Just so you know that calorie count is “excluding” the bone not including

I had actually never realised this. Good to know.

Is it though 4 slices of bread and some left over pasta isn't a "large " amount of carbs.

Glitchymn1 · 17/03/2025 12:48

That’s not stuffing yourself, you BOTH seem to be making a big deal out of nothing.

Nowvoyager99 · 17/03/2025 12:48

OP you don’t seem to be able to acknowledge the difference between the actions of “stuffing your face all day” which you clearly didn’t do (see lack of doughnuts) and the feeling of being full.

That is why posters are concluding that there was an unpleasant agenda behind the lie you told your friend.

TofuFighters · 17/03/2025 12:49

It does come across like you have issues with food OP. To call eating a fairly normal amount of food ‘stuffing your face’, tell your friend about it, write a post on here, listing what you ate, specifically commenting on the cheese sauce, posting a photo as proof of calories, telling us that you hadn’t exercised that day etc…. It’s very OTT.

It’s normal, especially for women, to feel very hungry some days and not hungry at all on others due to hormonal fluctuations. If you eat well over the whole month, it balances out and is fine.

You seem quite preoccupied with food, calories and exercise. Your wording on the most reminds me of a family member who does have disordered eating. I hope you’re ok but do seek help if food is becoming a problem .

BlueBatsAndBakewellTarts · 17/03/2025 12:50

Autumn38 · 17/03/2025 12:46

Do you order food when you aren’t hungry?? We don’t HAVE to eat 3 meals - if you actually listen to your body and only eat when you are genuinely hungry - it’s a lot better for you.

Yes but why isn’t OP hungry at lunch after having a normal amount of food the day before?

Also I don’t think we’ll take dietary advice from you if you only eat one meal a day, thanks. You also said you ‘trained’ your body to eat less food, not that you ‘listened’ to your body. Big difference.

SometimesCalmPerson · 17/03/2025 12:29

That would be a lot of food for me in a day but does happen on period days.

anyone who thinks two meals made up of two slices of bread and then a pasta dish isn’t a lot of food is eating more than they need to.

Carbs are not the enemy.

toast for breakfast, sandwich for lunch and pasta for tea is not “eating more than you need”. it’s a perfectly normal days eating. standard portions would mean that’s about 1200 calories which is not enough to maintain weight in a healthy adult.

anyone who thinks it’s a lot of food has issues.

PolarCrane · 17/03/2025 12:50

What portion sizes? 2 little wings or a plate of 10? Was that everything the whole day? How much activity?

Thepeopleversuswork · 17/03/2025 12:50

I think you're being a bit disingenuous: its very obvious to me that your friend has food issues so it must be to you?

I think it was odd of her to ask you what you'd eaten but that's a massive red flag for someone with food issues. I just wouldn't go there with her: she's obviously got a problem and you can't win by discussing it with her. Talking about having "stuffed your face" with a fairly modest food intake talking to someone who clearly has hangups was never going to end well.

hand on heart there wasn’t an agenda

I think I’m just not used to feeling so uncomfortably full at bedtime which made me use the description I did

I do eat carbs but normally a slice of nice bread at breakfast and rice/potatoes for dinner. Not crap bread throughout the day

OP posts:
DressOrSkirt · 17/03/2025 12:52

Sounds like a normal amount:
Breakfast (400 kcal)
Lunch (400 kcal)
Fruit (50 kcal)
Small Dinner (450 kcal)
Snack (300 kcal)

Even if you did nothing all day the average woman burns 1500-1700 kcal which you've just met. Unless you ate an obscene amount of chicken wings.

LawrenceSMarlowforPresident · 17/03/2025 12:52

It doesn't sound like a balanced diet. Lots of carbs, not much in the way of veg. But you've said it wasn't a typical day for you, so what are you concerned about? To say that you've been "stuffing your face all day" doesn't sound accurate to me (not to mention a very negative way of describing yourself). Maybe at a push you overate at dinner, but not at breakfast and lunch so it was hardly "all day."

Mamabear300 · 17/03/2025 12:52

My thing here is everyone is different
... So for me personally yes that would be alot but for say sharon down the road that might be normal for her.
If you or your friend has issues in relation to foods /eating disorder it may be a topic to shy away from, although I'm sure you meant no harm it was an innocent comment. Having had an eating disorder thought my time it is tough when your in a love/hate relationship with food. X

Poppins2016 · 17/03/2025 12:54

This is very subjective. Also depends on what your actual dinner was. Personally, I'd feel as though I'd eaten more than usual and feel very full, but I'm quite petite and don't need much in terms of maintenance calories.

Coffeeishot · 17/03/2025 12:54

But you replaced your rice and potatoes with 4 slices of what I'm assuming I'd white bread.and some pasta so it balances out. You do not feel "stuffed" eating 4 slices of bread over a day.

TheHerboriste · 17/03/2025 12:55

Coffeeishot · 17/03/2025 12:48

Is it though 4 slices of bread and some left over pasta isn't a "large " amount of carbs.

Edited

It would be for many of us.

I can’t remember the last time I had bread; possibly last Thursday? Never four slices in a day. Did have a jacket potato yesterday with meat and salad, and was stuffed.

Saturday I was doing a DIY project, had two eggs for breakfast, with peppers, and was too tired to cook dinner; had some cheddar before falling asleep.

Bread and pasta in one day wouldn’t work for me.

Matronic6 · 17/03/2025 12:55

From several of your comments I get the impression that you are quite fixated on food and your consumption. It sounds like you brought up what you ate yesterdays to explain why you didn't want to eat today, which to me is strange. Surely you'd just say you're not hungry or already ate?

The fact that your friend asked you as she did suggests she is likely of bored of indulging your fixation.

MeliusMoriQuamServire · 17/03/2025 12:55

Nah. That's a normal-ish amount of food in my book, not stuffing your face.

I actually stuffed my face the other day. First day of period, I have horrendous PMS, feel achy, bloated, cranky, no energy and THE RAGE! God, the rage. I could kill people for breathing in my direction. Not going to list what I ate, it's embarrassing. But it involved large quantities of doughnuts, chocolate and ice cream. I don't normally do this, but just couldn't stop myself. That's stuffing your face.

What you ate I eat every day. Less carby, but a similar amount. I'm a lot taller than you, but a but underweight. So even on a very short person it wouldn't be 'stuffing your face', imo.

Liv999 · 17/03/2025 12:55

That's nowhere near stuffing your face all day

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 17/03/2025 12:55

Are Paninis 'good bread' then?
