Absolutely mortified but was I unreasonable?

I took my just gone five year old bowling earlier. There are also arcade games, dodgems, a soft play etc.

There is a ride which is two big carousel style horses with reins that ‘gallop’ on the spot. There is a sign saying no under fives so DN was excited he was finally old enough to go on. I lifted him onto one horse and I sat on the other. Halfway through, a young man came over and told me to get off because the ride is for kids. I did, although he watched me undo the belt and get off as if I was a criminal.

WIBU to go on?

I once nearly got wedged in Postman's Pat van outside a supermarket.
And that black and white cat was no help either. Did you know it's made of of plastic?

arcticpandas · 15/03/2025 07:05

Not enough information:

  1. If it was an employee doing his job - YABU
  2. If it was a man whose child wanted to get on the horse- YABU
  3. If it was a busybody who was just being a Dick- YANBU

So which was it?

LifeIsShiteEnoughAlready · 15/03/2025 07:12

YANBU. You should have finished your go. After all you had pony-ed up the dough to pay for it with your hard earned brass.

Dollydaydream100 · 15/03/2025 07:22

You whinny some you lose some..

(sorry!)

LoveWine123 · 15/03/2025 07:24

So you horsed around a bit…no big deal!

Shoes232 · 15/03/2025 07:29

It’s fine you were on it and you got off, I can’t believe you had the seatbelt on though 😂🙈

Gorganzolabrie · 15/03/2025 07:31

You sound unstable, OP

could you see wither or not he was angry.

BitOutOfPractice · 15/03/2025 07:49

Are you sure you’re not just telling us a tall tail op?

Londonrach1 · 15/03/2025 07:51

Might be down to weight limit and you might have broken it so understandable why he said something. Also understand why you wanted to ride the horse! They need to make adult ones.

Oh please. I was joining in with the jokey tone on the thread. It was funny. What on earth is wrong with you? It's a bloody easy typo. Lighten up.

BoundaryGirl3939 · 15/03/2025 07:57

They should have a sign stating 'No Adults' or no-one over a certain weight to avoid this confusion. They need better communication.

Because gone are the days of common sense and working things out for yourself.

OP said she knew it was for children.

Ellie1015 · 15/03/2025 08:20

Not unreasonable for you to sit on beside son if you didnt think you would break.

Not unreasonable for staff to let you know for kids only as you were unaware.

Really wouldn't give it any more thought.

You're mortified? Really? And still so upset you posted on a forum about it?

Are people really this delicate??

Yes!!! I’m with OP on this one, I’d be worrying about it for a couple of days.

It came across as bitchy, unnecessary and not at all in keeping with the thread - as in my original post made you want to vom.

But it sounds like it was taken out of context and we're both enjoying the fun.

If you want to enlighten me on the typo thawould be great

Chucking. As in vomit.

And chill

Life's too short.

Ride the horsey.

…my entire life I’ve been looking for a succinct phrase by which to live…

You need some fresh air and a coffee

Some people are trying stirrup trouble on this thread.

Petuniaspetal · 15/03/2025 08:39

This is like something I would do! 🤣
I went to my nephews 6th birthday party and spent more time on the inflatable slide than most of the kids! Loved it. Took all the timid scared children so it didn't look too obvious it was all about me.😉
He is in his early 20s now so not so much opportunity any more ...sadly .

Would have been mortified if someone had told me to get off though.😊

YABU - I could have been so much worse!
I thought it would be either
a) you were to heave and “broke” the ride
B) you were asked to get because you were too heavy
