Thongs are HOrrible!!!

ihatethongs · 11/03/2025 16:14

I bought a lingerie set, and didn't realise I picked up the bloody brazilian style knickers.
So I wore them today, and It was TORTURE.
I went to IKEA with my mum and she couldn't get enough of the place, I wanted to scream all afternoon.
How can some people do it?

@pleasedonotfeedme but thongs are not uncomfortable for everyone. How is that so hard to understand?

Gettingbysomehow · 11/03/2025 18:42

I've never worn a thong and I never will. So unhygienic.

More unhygienic than normal pants? How?

Topseyt123 · 11/03/2025 18:51

I've never worn a thong, g-string or Brazilian knickers and never will. Totally impractical and would drive me round the bend.

Give me my favourite granny pants any day. I want something that comfortably covers my arse, not rides up into it.

Chipsahoy · 11/03/2025 18:54

I love a thong. But it has to fit right. I wear thongs with leggings or right fit dresses. Also like thong body suits but only if the bodysuit has some give otherwise yes, feels like being sliced in two!

M&S no VPL thongs are lovely and comfy, and don’t cut you up like cheese wire.
But I do like Bridget jones with some outfits.

These are what I wear everyday, I haven't worn normal briefs in maybe 25 years. I used to find normal pants rode up any ass and I spent the day pulling them out - soft things I don't even feel them there.

Chipsahoy · 11/03/2025 18:56

pleasedonotfeedme · 11/03/2025 17:25

Tried them in my 20s when if was impossible to find a nice lingerie set without thong pants, because it was the Thing to “avoid VPL” (eg. made up to sell to women that it was super sexy and god forbid anyone see the line of a normal pant and so on).

But OMFG no. Uncomfortable, unhygienic and just plain nasty. You would never convince the average man to wear something so horrible — thin plastic polyester or nylon “fabric” stuck up in his arse cheeks rubbing faecal bacteria all over the place on sensitive skin. Yet somehow we women all got convinced [i.e. marketed to] that this was the dernier cri in underwear for us.

They don’t even look sexy, just grim! Whenever I see one, all I can think of is all that faecal bacteria working its way down the fabric to my vagina, ready to give me a nasty case of thrush. It’s a no from me!

I wear thongs at least once a week. It stays in place, so how is it rubbing bacteria into my vagina? Never had thrush in my life.

More unhygienic than normal pants? How?

Because a thin strip of material is rubbing against your anus.

NerrSnerr · 11/03/2025 19:03

@Hungrycaterpillarsmummy when I wear a thong it really doesn't go that far in, and also the same anus germs will be still going on other pants.

I don't think any used pants are particularly hygienic but that's fine because you wash them after.

XxSideshowAuntSallyx · 11/03/2025 19:03

I used to wear G-strings when I was younger, and thongs. I'm now very much lace shorts or matching Brazilian briefs. Lace shorts don't give me a vpl and give me enough coverage. If I want matching underwear it's either big knickers or Brazilian briefs so as I'm not quite ready for massive pants it's Brazilian briefs.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 11/03/2025 19:19

I wore them when I was younger but no way could I wear a thong now! I never used to like big pants until I found Stripe and Stare but they are so comfortable.

DilemmaMama · 11/03/2025 16:26

I wear men’s boxer briefs. So comfy!

Me too! Was a game changer when I ran out of underwear and put on my boyfriend's.

DarkMagicStars · 11/03/2025 19:23

It’s all I wear. Just bought a load of new ones today.

TheWernethWife · 11/03/2025 16:31

Walked behind a woman yesterday who wore a thomg, both her arse cheeks were wobbling, definitely not a good look

Funny I was walking behind a woman with full briefs on in leggings the other day and I thought “she should really be wearing a thong or go commando in those because everyone can see her baggy knickers”. So there you go, can’t please everybody.

AgathaX · 11/03/2025 19:51

Well fitting thongs in cotton or another soft material are absolutely fine, as are brazilians. I really hate the feel of anything bigger in a pants style, although I'll very occasionally wear shorts.

Hohofortherobbers · 11/03/2025 20:16

I don't find big pants comfortable, they sit too high on my tummy, the elastic digs into your butt cheeks, unsightly vpl in anything but baggy trousers and they usually end up in a wedgie anyway, I wear Brazilian, I like the low rise, no vpl, but not cheese wire territory.

WhatFlavourIsIt · 11/03/2025 21:05

@pleasedonotfeedme - I think they look very sexy but then I do have a cracking arse. As far as hygiene, well, I wipe well, so that's not an issue. Op, why didn't you just go to the loo and take them off if they were causing you so much discomfort?

financialcareerstuff · 11/03/2025 21:25

I find them comfy. They don't seem to bother me, and my ass, I have to say, looks great in them. I buy them in a generous size, and the front can cover my tummy nicely, while leaving my more curvilicious ass on display! They work for me - and my DH!

Doitrightnow · 11/03/2025 21:48

I hate them and have always hated them. I do have some but wear them as rarely as possible.

I hate flip flops too. I hate having something stuck between my bum cheeks or between my toes. I really don't understand how it's comfortable for anyone.

Flamingoknees · 11/03/2025 21:53

Wore nothing else in my 20's and 30's - no issues at all. Now into BIG knickers. The bigger the better. DP does not approve.

GretchenWienersHair · 11/03/2025 21:54

I find thongs so much comfier than any other underwear. All the rest end up as wedgies on me anyway so at least things are made to fit in the gap 😄

Devianinc · 11/03/2025 21:56

DilemmaMama · 11/03/2025 16:26

I wear men’s boxer briefs. So comfy!

Don’t they bunch up under clothes and look lumpy. I can understand as bed wear but lumps of material in my jeans wouldn’t be comfortable to me, but I’ve tried and might be thinking it all wrong.

TheFormidableMrsC · 11/03/2025 21:58

I wear Brazilian knickers and they're not like a thong (on me at least). I do buy knickers a size up though.

MidnightMeltdown · 11/03/2025 22:01

Growing up in the 00s I used to wear them to secondary school as a kid - everyone did then!

They went out of fashion when I was in my 20s and I can't imagine wearing one now. They're uncomfortable and look horrid imo.

EndlessTreadmill · 11/03/2025 22:22

Bit off topic, but I can't understand the number of women who wear bikini bottoms in this shape.
Not only uncomfortable, but hideously unflattering too.
Only about 10% of women (usually under 25) seem to have nice looking 'lower bum cheeks'. For everyone else it looks like a deliberate effort to show their cellulite and wobbly bits, and make them look even larger.....

Ejrjr · 11/03/2025 22:26

I don't like wedgies. I feel that men have underwear that's comfortable and looks good
