I tried.

I really did.

But JFC it's absolutely awful.

"Come and watch me make the most basic of crafts while telling me how much you admire me, and I gently patronise you"

Really awful.

There's an air of desperation / needing to be liked and admired that is off-putting in anyone, not specifically MM. Like people who are desperate to make friends, being too syrupy sweet, trying too hard, in an attempt to make people like them, it just doesn't work.

Maybe, with the relentless hounding of her in the media for absolutely everything she does, this might manifest itself in her trying to be liked, trying too hard. Just a thought.

OrdinaryO888 · 07/03/2025 10:57

Have just read the article. I don’t agree with everything it says but I certainly agree with the following;

“What people are actually doing is displacing events, views or feelings they may harbour for something or somebody and projecting onto somebody else,” Kulkarni says. “It’s like when you’ve had a dreadful time at work but you can’t deal with it there, so you get home and pick a fight with your spouse. It’s the displacement of the problem.”

It is safer to attack someone you don’t know and in Meghan’s case, the tabloids have effectively given “permission” for everyone to pile on.

Laserwho · 07/03/2025 11:00

Im.sick of hearing about Megan and Harry, they have never done anything for anyone unless there's a paycheck involved. If you want really Hollywood royalty look no further than Brenda song and Macaulay Culkin. They absolutely glow and are obviously very happy together. Brenda really turned his whole life around and he now has the family he deserves. They are real people unlike meg and co

It's hilarious! But I absolutely love how pretentious and un ironically awful it is. What I love most is how much the RF would l hate it.

BustingBaoBun · 07/03/2025 11:04

But... if there are famous people who do my head in, I avoid clicking, reading or having anything to do with them! It's easy to do that.

OrdinaryO888 · 07/03/2025 11:06

Thank you very much; I will be very interested to have a look at that other article BustingBaoBun (edited to say - failed to quote!) .

I think it’s also helpful to remember that English print journalism in US, UK, and Australia is very much linked in to one another.

Ex or current Murdoch employees are everywhere, spinning the same lines.

Even the once respected Washington Post is now run by an ex Murdoch man with a very interesting history!

New 'Washington Post' CEO accused of Murdoch tabloid hacking cover-up

Lawyers for Prince Harry and Hugh Grant have alleged in court that The Washington Post's next CEO helped the Murdochs clean up after illegal phone-hacking incidents at their British tabloids.

I don’t think Meghan will be particularly perturbed by what anyone in the UK thinks, not least the RF, as I don’t think that the series is particularly aimed at a UK or even an EU audience tbh. More like the 50% of Americans who don’t have a passport and who don’t look at cooking, decorating or fashion content on Instagram.

OrdinaryO888 · 07/03/2025 11:33

Just read the article you posted down thread by the Buzzfeed journalist BustingBaoBun.

It has a very refreshing alternative viewpoint. Can’t believe Meghan has been enduring this onslaught for eight years poor woman. People try and deny the racial aspect of it but I think it’s hard not to see it. It’s definitely part of the “who does she think she is?” rhetoric.

Most interesting though is the fact that they chose to write and publish that. Rhetorical Buzzfeed audience is young but I think more people generally are starting to wake up to the fact that while Meghan is far from perfect, she doesn’t deserve this extreme and relentless level of vitriol aimed at her. There are a lot of powerful right wing men doing far worse things in the world atm!

I totally agree, the lady has gone back to making the content that she always enjoyed( very reminiscent of the tig), and I have the feeling that the UK/Royal Family is a completely closed chapter for her. She has totally moved on from this island and the RF. Good for her.

TeaRoseTallulah · 07/03/2025 12:08

I watched 10 mins and had to turn off, I was in danger of cringing myself inside out!

I’m not sure they’d hate it, it’s too dull to have that effect. I watched the first episode a couple of day’s ago but I cant be arsed to sit through another just yet. It seems more of a chore than a anticipated what shall I sit down and watch. In the same space of time I’ve binged watched a load of episodes of Alice in Borderland.

About time. I honestly don’t mind what she does and how successful it is but I don’t want to listen to another second of RF dissing, not because I’m a fan (I’m fairly indifferent) but because it is beyond tedious to listen to anymore recycled old gripes.

No one was ‘distressed’. But it was disgusting, and it was designed to dehumanise Meghan to the lowest level anyone could possibly be dehumanised.

"The lowest level anyone could possibly be dehumanised"? Bloody hell, get a grip. If you really thing an unpleasant remark is the worst someone could be dehumanised I'm afraid you must be completely detached from the real world.

muhlezur · 07/03/2025 12:51

I think it is human nature to rejoice when a bully gets their comeuppance.

BunnyLake · 07/03/2025 13:10

I’ve watched ep 2 now, well mostly ff’d it and watched snippets. It’s pretty dull but I’m more focused on why she has a jumper draped over her shoulders like that, it looks very odd and not something I’d ever think to do. Is it a look?

BustingBaoBun · 07/03/2025 13:14

I drape a jumper. Just sayin'

TeaRoseTallulah · 07/03/2025 13:33

My ds drapes a jumper , he looks great. When I do it I look like I haven't put it on properly 😂

All of that was just an attempt to smear her. Where are these people she is supposed to have 'bullied'? The palace was trying to tell us that sending people emails early in the morning was 'bullying'.

Do you? Over your shoulders like that and when you're cooking? I’ve seen people tie a knot in the sleeves when doing it but never just hanging there. So it is a look then? I’ve never seen it in real life. It looks cumbersome to me, I can imagine flinging it off in annoyance 😁

Well that so called 'smear by the Palace' has been roundly discounted, now that US Spotify employees and some of her US employees have corroborated the experiences of those who worked for her at the Palace,

She is a proven bully, we saw her in action in front of a global audience too.

Who are you talking about exactly?

BustingBaoBun · 07/03/2025 13:50

I think my draped jumper looks cool !

I don't do it all the time 😅 and also can't imagine criticising someone for it!

The excuses that people will come up with to berate this woman are something out of this world. It is sad, ridiculous and fascinating to watch at the same time!

TheKeatingFive · 07/03/2025 13:58

I imagine a draped jumper while cooking would be deeply irritating, but plenty of female celeb chefs wear things on tv that normal people wouldn't when cooking the family dinner.

It's just tv conventions.

TheKeatingFive · 07/03/2025 13:59

Someone on twix was criticising her for grating the lemon rind wrong.

I added that to the extremely long list of ridiculous ways in which people have found fault with this woman.
