Adam Sandler STORMS OUT of the 2025 Oscars. Thoughts?

Just wondering what people’s thoughts are on this one. I’m torn.

On one hand he is free to wear what he wants and feels comfortable in to wherever he wishes however, it also seems disrespectful to show such contempt to the Oscars and, to his colleagues who have all bothered to make a huge effor

It was a skit with lots of layers:
Blue and yellow for Ukraine.
Referencing the Zelensky ‘where’s your suit’ incident.
Adam Sandler, famously, ‘dresses for comfort’.
Sandler and Timothee have on ongoing joke where Sandler yells ‘Chalamet’ at him, I forget why.
The DM click baiting with a total non-story basically

That was staged, Sandler been to hundreds of reward shows and dresses his part. I didn’t think it was funny but it was just a gag.

It 100% is, it's brilliant.

On a side note that reporter questioning Zelensky about his attire was outrageous, nobody questioned Elon Musk when he rocks up to the White Housr in a T-shirt and a baseball cap but why would they? Musk is rolling in it and America need/want his $ whilst they treat Zelensky like a desperate begging nobody. Disgusting, bullies. Zelensky all the way!

The media have been doing this kind of bullshit for decades - somebody sets up an argument as a stunt and the tabloids report it as if it’s real. I’m always baffled at what kind of idiot takes these headlines at face value - unsurprisingly, it would seem the answer is Daily Mail readers.

Learn to read the room. It was a dig at Cheeto man and Vance the knob to show support for Ukraine!

Trump mentioned what Zelensky was wearing before he even walked into the building and I thought it was Vance who said it again.

He is Majorie Taylor Green's (a Trump fanatic) SO & that was totally staged. The whole thing was a set-up to screw Zelensky over. It's ironic that all these hard core American patriots have elected a Russian shill, sex offender and con man into office.

There is a post Oscar interview with Conran O'brien when he explains how he and Adam Sandler came up with the idea. O'brien had an idea and called Sandler up and Sandler developed the skit.

Thank you for that, as I did not know. I had watched the skit before noticing the thread so was rather surprised at MN comments where some did not realise it was showing support for President Zelenskyy. Always liked Adam Sandler (known as Phone, Wallet Keys in my house of course!) Now he has stepped up another notch.
For anyone who has not come across his standup, worth a look. For films I would go for "50 first dates" or "Just go with it!"

Not disrespectful at all Adam Sandler is one of the only normal celebrities in my eyes, he wears what he wants, drives a crapy old car, still lives in a basic small house and donates loads of money to charity! He is admirable and the only celebrity who has not let being a celebrity go to his head!

It was a skit it was meant to be funny. The chalamet bit was because another comedian at another awards show said Chalamet sounds like a made up word sandler uses when making stupid noises for a laugh and he done it at that award show for that comedian to huge laughs, im assuming he saw Timothy and threw that on for the extra laugh after his bit with Conan. People take things too literal these days

The whole thing is a sketch. Sandler co-created it. Every element of it was planned. Everyone involved knew about it. The hug is a deliberate mix of blue and yellow.

Did it not occur to you to wonder why Sandler was miked up?

As long as they’re not wearing a see through dress that shows literally everything, I don’t see any issue with a big star dressing casually…. We should support people to dress comfortably in whatever makes them happy.
