Just wondering what people’s thoughts are on this one. I’m torn.

On one hand he is free to wear what he wants and feels comfortable in to wherever he wishes however, it also seems disrespectful to show such contempt to the Oscars and, to his colleagues who have all bothered to make a huge effor

Another idiot OP who mindlessly follows what the Daily Fail says.

Maybe try engaging a few brain cells next time?

StaringAtTheWater · 03/03/2025 09:28

Thanks for the link @ImustLearn2Cook

It's very clearly a scripted skit. The mystery is whether the Daily Mail writer is bring deliberately misleading or is just very dim...

ALovelyShadeofMauve · 03/03/2025 09:30

I think my favourite part about this is that you not only swallowed the Daily Mail’s line on it, but that you also replicated the shouty “STORMS OUT” clickbait headline as your thread subject 😆

SleepingStandingUp · 03/03/2025 09:31

Surely no one who watched that could think it was serious? Adam can barely keep his face straight.

What's going on with his voice though?

Adam Sandler is the reverse of ‘highbrow’. His films involve him playing unmotivated doofuses and slackers who break waitresses’ noses while defending themselves from attacks by a blind cane, or declare their love to Drew Barrymore by singing songs on an airplane while Billy Idol throws the villain into the plane loo, or being a crap stand up comedian who saves Miss Australia from terrorists on a cruise ship.

I mean, he’s a financial powerhouse who must be one of the best-paid figures in Hollywood, when you include all his production stuff, but ‘highbrow’ he isn’t.

Edited

No-one mentioned Adam Sandler being highbrow.

@Sharptonguedwoman said she didn’t know who Adam Sandler was and attributed it to her not being ‘highbrow’ and that the last film she’d seen was Paddington in Peru. (Which is Citizen Kane compared to most AS films.)

Sparkletastic · 03/03/2025 09:40

So obviously a scripted skit and nod to the Trump / Vance / Zelensky incident

Over40Overdating · 03/03/2025 09:20

@ItisIbeserk it’s to demonstrate to us low minded plebs that they are intellectually superior by not having any popular culture references past the reformation. It’s very important they do this on every single pop culture thread so we feel graced by their presence but also suitably chided into bettering ourselves by finding entertainment in the works of plato or Socrates.

I agree it’s usually the case but then this appears to be one of the posters who actually just decides to post announce they know nothing of the thread subject, which we inexplicably find all over MN.

Name your favourite TV show. (I don’t have a TV.)

Best recipe for leeks (I don’t like leeks.)

Holiday idea for people with three kids (I only have one child so don’t know.)

Best car for driving in the country (I live in a town and can’t drive.)

Etc.

It was my post she was replying to. No-one mentioned Adam Sandler being highbrow or not. Read it again.

@ItisIbeserk yes I saw that after I’d posted. Equally baffling.

I might go on parenting threads and reply ‘I don’t have a child so I am not bothered’ just to be involved.

You’d be one of many!

Six figure salaries are wasted on many of you.

3WildOnes · 03/03/2025 09:19

Adam Sandler is one of the few Hollywood actors who is openly a Republican so he seems an odd choice to choose for this skit.

Doesn't mean he has to endorse and agree with the president though.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 03/03/2025 09:49

Lol at both the OP and the Daily Fail so utterly missing the point!😂

TwoSteppingInTexas · 03/03/2025 05:11

This has gone straight over your head OP.

Sad, but true. OP needs to learn that humour isn’t always obvious, unless you’re up to speed on current affairs 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Actually starting a thread about a skit is deliciously funny though.

Thedogscollar · 03/03/2025 09:55

Dearie me @Thunderpants88 do you seriously believe this? Acqaint yourself with the big news story from over the weekend and maybe then it will all make sense🤔
Anyway looks like you've THUNDERED OFF never to return.

UnctuousUnicorns · 03/03/2025 09:56

I didn't watch the video, just looked at the pics and read the article, and just from that it was screamingly obvious that it was scripted. I've no doubt that the Mail knows that too, even if some of its readers - and the OP, if not a bot - don't.

notacooldad · 03/03/2025 09:57

He didn't storm out.
He acted his part well.

Falconfield · 03/03/2025 09:57

I don't really understand Adam Sandler being the person to do this skit tho.

From my understanding he is a pretty vocal right wing Republican who stands by Trump. (This made me sad when i found out as I watched his films growing up as a rite of passage)

Admittedly I don't know him personally so maybe I'm wrong....

Mumwithbaggage · 03/03/2025 09:59

Don't know whether to laugh or cry at the OP's lack of awareness. I was watching last night and it was so clearly a dig at Friday's awful Trump/Vance meeting.

Peak Trump, maybe?

I think Adam Sandler being chosen is more to do with him being a close friend of Conan's. Conan has mocked Adam's lack of professional attire before so it could also come from being a bit of an inside joke.

Coffeeishot · 03/03/2025 10:05

I don't think Adam Sandler has said he is a trump supporter at all I'm happy to be proven wrong though. I know he used to be a huge supporter of Rudy Gulliano in the early 00s, but nothing recently.

ItisIbeserk · 03/03/2025 10:09

OP is very likely the DM driving traffic (successfully!).

I think there’s no clear evidence that Sandler supports Trump.
