To think the Republican Party need to wake up and find their spine?

TooBigForMyBoots · 01/03/2025 18:39

The Republican Party are responsible for President Trump. Given that they have a majority in both Houses and on the Supreme Court, they are the only ones who can prevent him further damaging the US and its citizens.

Their fear and appeasement of the bully Trump has only made him stronger, but we are where we are and can only go from here.

AIBU to think Republicans need to find their spine, guts and voice to stop appeasing/placating Trump and do their duty for the American people?

Trump and Vance have no integrity, no manners, no class. They are crass, odious, loud-mouthed bullies. They are ignorant and repulsive. That's it. They have no clue about how the rest of the world operates. They don't have it in them to relate to anything beyond their own sickening egos. But one day they will be gone. So there is that.

That's all you can provide? Name calling? Did you search out all the possible negative labels you could find? Do you not realise that people now have been called so many names under the sun that it is meaningless nowadays? Calling black people Nazi's (really?), we've heard it all. Absolutely meaningless. Now, if you want to talk about the issues and policies of the parties and where is the opposition leader then ...........

Just to add, looks like JD Vance will be the next POTUS as there doesn't seem to be an opposition leader. We are waiting for the policies and not just a load of Trump and Vance bashing. How is someone supposed to vote for the opposition when they seem only to want to bash Trump at every interview and talk of nothing else. What sort of opposition is that?

@MNHQ, see the above, too. "Calling black people Nazi's (really?)"

The poster's replies, which are generally inflammatory, often bear no relation to the message they are responding to. I don't mean in a "this is a silly response" kind of way, it seems like a broken AI.

Your understanding is very child like. The comment refers to, we have heard all sorts of stupid name calling. Is that too advanced for you to understand? Children should not be on this forum.

Yes why do they keep responding as if we're all Ukrainian ? Strangely misinformed.

Anyway, it's 22.48. Time to clock off. 🕰️

Maybe you are. Maybe you're not. I don't know so I refer as I wish to refer. If you don't understand well, that's not my problem as I know most have a grasp of English to know what I mean

tobee · 05/03/2025 19:54

Seriously?

CulturalNomad · 05/03/2025 19:54

I don't believe Putin will just leave, and I agree that Ukraine could not win (absent US support) without much increased spending

But @OneLemonDog would continued financial aid be enough over the long-term? Doesn't it come down to actual physical troops being necessary? I realize that Russia is sustaining significant losses but Ukraine's fighting force has been seriously depleted.

The thought that this war will continue until one side literally runs out of men is truly horrible. But I don't see NATO putting boots on the ground in a fighting capacity.

This is precisely why Putin needs to call his troops back home (and the PRK), stop firing missiles into Ukraine's sovereign territory. They abjectly failed in their intention to walk into Ukraine and be done and dusted by the beginning of March 2022, 3 whole years ago. Utterly humiliating themselves and killing thousands of Ukrainians and Russians, wasting tons of money.

It's that simple. That is the reality. Everyone knows this.

I do think that NATO boots on the ground may be a necessity. I suspect there'll be a "peace deal" of sorts, if only to buy some time.

The problem for Europe is that US support seems to be a thing of the past. Putin will likely take the rest of Ukraine before too long, and then he's in a MUCH stronger position (and right on the doorstep).

The fight will very likely happen and it would be better, for European security, if it happened in Ukraine. Of course, the flip side is that Europe is currently not adequately prepared.

I suspect that what European leaders want is for the "minerals deal" to happen now, to buy them some time.

Yes, in the short-term American "civilians" (using quotes as everyone knows a good portion of those "contractors" will undoubtedly be CIA) would act as a deterrent.

Odin2018 · 05/03/2025 20:32

Unprecedented amount of American men are signing up for the American Army since Trump took office. They will build an army capable of taken on the largest nations. Don't you worry about America.

Europe - which men are feeling so patriotic they are signing up in droves in their armies? Definitely not the UK or France - lowest numbers all round. European leaders have lost touch with their people and men are not flocking to join their armies when their own countries are allowing men of fighting age, illegal immigrants, to come into their country by the millions. There will be civil war if the issue is not dealt with.

I don't think the presence of US civilians itself is a deterent. There were US companies and civilians in Crimea and Eastern Ukraine when Russia invaded those, after all.

But I do think that Putin would avoid immediately embarrassing Trump, as they'll want to keep him in the WH.

Though I think Trump will likely explore a range of options as to how to avoid relinquishing power in 2028, I'd be unsurprised if a conveniently-timed Russian advance might be used as a tenuous basis to avoid even holding an election.

Really? You’d think this recent article might have mentioned it. How odd that it didn’t.

You think the UK is more at risk of civil war after what happened at your Capitol a few years back?! Are you for real?

It is actually true that recruitment is up, but even Fox News (sorry for the gross link) admit that the increase began before the last election (due to an increased recruitment drive starting in Oct 2023).

Army recruiting is up, but data show trend began before the election, former Army official says

Politicians have attributed an increase in Army recruitment numbers to the so-called "Trump effect," but data shows that enlistments began to uptick before the 2024 presidential election.

Yes, recruitment is up.

No, it has nothing to do with Trump.

Odin2018 · 05/03/2025 21:15

What is Trump's opposition's (Democrats) policies? How do they intend to tackle the issues they perceive, how will they solve the problem without just saying we will do this and we will do that? I never can seem to get a straight answer to those questions. I am also given a word salad answer but mostly a Trump deranged rant.

I would really like to know without any mention AT ALL of Trump. Can the opposition do that? Is it within their capabilities? Issues, policies and solutions?

Resentment and anger grows throughout many European countries with the illegal immigration issue with the leaders not really doing anything at all about it.
People can only be pushed so far till one day they will crack.
The route we are taking, one day, people will crack.
