Went shopping today & saw this muzzled dog opposite. Gave me a shock as I v rarely see muzzled dogs in my area & never ones that resemble XL Bullies. I know the pic is blurred,

Asking for a friend 😀

I think it’s a ghost. Quick, someone email Danny Robins from Uncanny.

I bet its his dog !

MoanerLeeSir · 01/03/2025 07:23

Definitely taxidermied. But it’s a cat.

Hell fire !
Now that is terrifying , poor cat .

Really rare, those.

I believe submissions for the Natural History Museum’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2025 are open, OP.

If it was a DeDoDoDa someone could legitimately call The Police. There could then be a Sting operation. As long as it does Stand So Close To Me it's fine....

I'll get my coat.

PrincessBing · 01/03/2025 09:37

It appears to be a labrador crossed with a shetland pony? I can see why such a combination would need a muzzle!

XiCi · 01/03/2025 09:40

I'm loving this thread, thanks OP. The photo 🤣🤣. First glance thought it was an obese goat.

OhSoSharkie · 01/03/2025 09:42

It's overweight the muzzle was probably on to stop it scavenging food on it's walk...

Particularly if you live in a chicken wing shop area... it's pretty common near us.

DeclutteringJane · 01/03/2025 09:44

Otter on stilts?

MissDoubleU · 01/03/2025 09:44

InterIgnis · 01/03/2025 04:19

It’s also not clear as to whether it’s taxidermied and/or smoking a blunt.

From the zoom in all I can see is this face (which is also my reaction to OP)

I think it's a capybara, isn't it? They're pretty chonky and XL capybaras are known to be armed/legged and dangerous. Big snouts though so top marks to owner for getting the muzzle on.

Capybaras are like giant guinea-pigs doing an impersonation of David Walliams .
No danger unless you leave your Massive Salad unattended .

Even if its a xl bully what's your point in the post??? Its muzzled not running loose. Did you just get a but excited about seeing one or something?

InWithThePlums · 01/03/2025 09:50

Classic Mumsnet Grin

Baconking · 01/03/2025 09:51

So what if it was? It had a muzzle on, as is the legal requirement for being out in public

LaineyCee · 01/03/2025 09:52

Are you Brooklyn Beckham? You have a similar photographic style.

Even if the dog is an XL Bully, they are muzzled, as they’re legally required to be in public.

Your fear seems to be about the muzzle. This is a common reaction, but it’s a real shame as the fear that the dog will be judged for not wearing a muzzle is one of the reasons they’re not more common.

In other countries, all dogs must wear muzzles on public transport. I think it would be great if we made the effort to normalise their use here. A dog in a muzzle doesn’t mean the dog is aggressive anymore than a cyclist must be lacking in proficiency because they’re wearing a helmet. It’s just a sensible precaution.

thehorsesareallidiots · 01/03/2025 09:52

Someone managed to get a muzzle on Moo Deng?

Purplebunnie · 01/03/2025 10:03

Looks like a chocolate lab, notorious for being overweight

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 01/03/2025 10:05

Gosh, I think I've just seen one too! 😱

Don't be daft, it's obviously Shergar. Or possibly his ghost.

Turmerictolly · 01/03/2025 10:14

🤣

Cucy · 01/03/2025 10:16

What a ridiculous attitude.

What area do you live in where they don’t have muzzled dogs?

You must live in an area where responsible owners are rare.

The only reason you don’t see dogs with muzzles on very often is because if they’re distressed then they’re usually taken out at quiet times or they’re walked without a muzzle but kept away from other dogs.

If it’s an XL bully then it’s the law.

I’m not sure what your complaint is.

You’ve seen a dog that has a responsible owner, regardless of what breed it is or reason for the muzzle.

Why did you start the thread?

Schnauzersaremyheros · 01/03/2025 10:17

Even if that dog is an XL Bully, what's your problem and why have you taken a (rubbish) photo of him/her? 🤔

The owner is clearly complying with the law by ensuring that their dog is wearing a muzzle.

SnakesandKnives · 01/03/2025 10:17

genius thread - some of comments are absolutely brilliant, thank you all!

it is another ‘how the fuck do some people manage to exist in day to day life’ thread tho

Apollo365 · 01/03/2025 10:23

I’ve checked back to the pic again just for another giggle
