Have to be honest since trump won i wasn't going anyway. But anyone cancelling or going elsewhere?
I have a big birthday this year, I would go to the garbage dump rather than support America,/musk in any way. I know therwmis at least half of America that doesn't.support this shxt and for them I am sorry but for the republicans too spineless and self interested to resist their dictator.trump...not one iota of sympathy for the rising prices loss of Medicaid or medicare.

YABU ..to cancel/Not go
YANBU...wouldn't touch it with a bargepole

Even if you ignore all the human rights aspects, you can’t ignore the safety issues. I am beyond anxious about flying there, and the endless job cuts are going to continue until someone figures out how to stop him. Definitely stay away from national parks as a start.

And I will continue to repeat myself about women’s health until I don’t have to. Please, please make sure you aren’t pregnant if you have any chance of needing care anywhere besides the few states where women’s’ health care still exists. Make sure your daughters will be okay too. This risk cannot be talked about enough.

I'd have no problem going to the states . I don't want politics influencing my travel plans . All this hysterical virtual signalling is ridiculous.

So politics in Afghanistan wouldn't put you off going there?

It isn't about ‘hysterical virtue signalling’, just people choosing by their own moral purpose, beliefs and in some cases safety.

Nope. Off to San Antonio in may(holiday)St augustine in July(work), Scottsdale and fort worth (both work) in September and SLC(holidsy) in December. Looking forward to all.

Gawd, your carbon footprint is giant sized!

Fuck off then, eh?

What you waiting for...?

The return of Truss, Johnson, Williamson, Braverman, the chancellor who made up his own amount of tax to pay, the one who watched porn in Number 10, the one who lay down on the benches of the HoC, Patel, ...need I go on?

Off you fuck.

How do you plan to fund everything when the top taxpayers leave? I pay more tax than 20 average households. Who will subsidise you then?

It’s not politics though. Not anymore.

They sacked the air traffic controllers so they don’t have enough people qualified to make sure your plane will land safely. Hence the massive increase in US plane crashes lately. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/musk-doge-air-traffic-controllers-b2706299.html

Want to visit one of the many beautiful national parks that are a staple tourist attraction in many states? You’d better not sprain your ankle, or get lost, or run into any wildlife - all the rangers have been laid off. Help isn’t coming. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/czx7kez4vx2o.amp

Thanks to the repeal of Roe v Wade, if you were to experience a gynaecological issue whilst on holiday in the US - an ectopic pregnancy or an incomplete miscarriage - in 24 states they are not legally allowed to offer you medical treatment until you actively start dying, and it may be too late. https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/amber-thurman-delayed-abortion-georgia/

Plan on eating during your holiday? Or maybe hiring a car to see the sights? Food and fuel prices are at record highs thanks to the spiralling budget. Your trip will cost you hundreds of dollars more than it would have last year. https://globalnews.ca/news/11052406/us-egg-prices-canada/amp/

These are all facts. I’ve included further information and sources so you can see it’s not scaremongering or virtue signalling, it’s already happened.

They won't leave. They say they will but they won't.

ElatedShark · 02/03/2025 09:22

Lol no won't be cancelling anything. They are not obliged to help Ukraine, England needs ro step up and help and get off America's teat

MadameCholetsDirtySecret · 02/03/2025 09:31

We planned our last trip to the USA for last year as I felt that trump would be back and I wouldn't visit whilst that individual was in charge.

It was a breathtaking trip to the Grand Canyon. Amazing hikes, fabulous weather and lovely people. Such a shame we won't be going again for a few years.

TizerorFizz · 02/03/2025 09:37

There are still park rangers. I’m nearly 70 so not pregnant. I would not go if I was! Flying into a Democrat state. Travelling by car (yes I can afford it) into a republican state. Americans are used to cheap everything. Brits are used to spending money!

namechangeGOT · 02/03/2025 09:37

Flying to the states on the 29th of this month as we do multiple times a year. No, I won't be cancelling, no I wouldn't even consider it. Same as I won't boycott any other American products/services or tech.

TizerorFizz · 02/03/2025 09:40

Petrol (as we know it) is $0.85 a litre. Here it’s £1.36 a litre. My maths is good enough to know where is cheapest.

Well that’s great for you personally. But people who ARE of childbearing age have every right to take that into account and it’s not “hysterical virtue signalling” to do so.

TizerorFizz · 02/03/2025 09:51

I would not go if I was pregnant. No brainer really. But plenty will still be going to Disney! Americans do not have our price levels, generally. Except in restaurants. For the first time ever we have several places we have booked with kitchens. That’s been the big change we have made. Plus we will keep quiet on our Trump views. Obviously.

Arrivals4lucky · 02/03/2025 10:02

And they’re completely free to choose not to come here because of how postal workers were treated, if that’s something that bothers them!
Just as others are now looking at a nation that was once envied and admired thinking ‘ Fucking hell, between the crime and the guns and the homophobia and the racism and the right wing nutters and the EXPENSE because everything is so expensive now and it’s all going to get worse?’why would you go? The US used to be somewhere aspirational to go to for many, but now? Not so much.

Petuniaspetal · 02/03/2025 10:11

Looks like Vance has had to cancel his trip to Vermont, not exactly a warm welcome. Now at an undisclosed location.

That's what you get when you're a Putin mouth piece. 😂

Many people in the US are appalled by Trump and did not vote for him.

I don't see any issues with visiting a Democratic state.

Arrivals4lucky · 02/03/2025 10:35

The rapist Tate brothers are in the USA too now, another reason to give it a wide berth…

They won't leave. They say they will but they won't.

They already are, analysis shows there was a net outflow of 10,800 high-net worth individuals from the UK in 2024

I heard when I was there that they do not like to come to the U.K. as they prefer France and Italy. Better food and weather and good looking people. I think they are pissed off about poor little Meghan.

zingally · 02/03/2025 11:24

We've booked a trip from New York to Boston for late September... Neither of us have been for well over a decade+. Not going to let an arsehole get in the way of a good time.

Absolutely, and not only do you risk very poor care as a woman, but you may even be charged with a criminal offence if you miscarry
