Would you judge this in someone’s house?

I’m currently re-decorating parts of my house. I’ve come across a website that sells prints for the walls and I’ve found some I really like;

This house is full of love, laughter, and a little bit of what the fuck.

Pardon the mess, I decided not to give a shit today.

If you’re happy and you know it, it’s your meds!

As you can probably tell, our house is already a little bit eccentric with its decor… but would you judge someone for having prints like that on the wall with children living in the house or am I just overthinking it? 😅

I don’t judge the swearing part at all no, but I will judge anyone - anyone with any sort of live/laugh/love. I will judge them very harshly as fundamentally basic. Not sorry.

Possible exceptions for genuinely comical and/or creative artwork prints - by actual artists. For example “Live, Laugh, Toaster Bath”

godmum56 · 28/02/2025 12:30

not with children around and its going to make a difficulty if you have visitors who bring children. Once the kids are grown up then if you still want them, crack on.

ManchesterLu · 28/02/2025 12:30

The tacky stuff.... that's up to you.

But the swearing, joking about mental health meds etc. I'd find it funny, but wouldn't have it in front of my kids, and it's unacceptable when their friends come round and see it etc.

Dancingatthepinkponyclub · 28/02/2025 12:31

They’re awful and embarrassing. 🙈

flyinghen · 28/02/2025 12:31

These are cringe and having swearing on the walls with kids is a no sorry. But it's your house not mine!

DalzielOrNoDalzielAndDontPascoe · 28/02/2025 12:31

I was thinking of bumper stickers too. The problem is that you can't know what situations may arise in future.

Imagine having just been responsible for a fatal crash and having a longstanding jokey bumper sticker warning people about how crazily you drive.

I've also seen a few of the 'having an adventure before dementia' ones and I always think how crass and almost certain to upset vulnerable sufferers and their loved ones they are, just for the sake of a not-very-witty joke. Dementia is a cruel, harrowing illness; it's not just 'being a bit dotty'.

@Rainbows678 go for it, life can be too serious, it's clearly tongue in cheek stuff!

Picklelily99 · 28/02/2025 12:33

I'd be judging you from now 'til next Sunday, even without kids in the house! *you did ask.

m00rfarm · 28/02/2025 12:33

I would judge you - but that would be my issue, not yours.

BatchCookBabe · 28/02/2025 12:33

Oh God they are horribly naff sorry @Rainbows678 😬 Don't do it!

DalzielOrNoDalzielAndDontPascoe · 28/02/2025 12:34

I suppose you could get away with the first one better - which is quite amusing - by just abbreviating it to WTF rather than using the actual word.

You could always tell the kids that it means 'warm tender feelings'!

holjam · 28/02/2025 12:36

I wouldn't judge you cos it's your house and you can do what you like....but those types of posters are so tacky and cheap.

YouOKHun · 28/02/2025 12:37

Each print is what Colin Hunt would attach to his wall.

Having worked for the Alzheimer's society in the past I have seen 100s of "witty" dementia jokes. They are tedious, insensitive and incredibly unfunny.

You'd never get away with stupid jokes about cancer

Colin Hunt's office trolley!!

Patterncarmen · 28/02/2025 12:43

If they make you happy, go ahead. Why live your life worrying about what other people think? Those who mind, don’t matter. Those who matter, don’t mind.

harlacem0507 · 28/02/2025 12:44

Not for me they sound quite tacky sorry!

GlacialLook · 28/02/2025 12:44

SofaSpuds · 28/02/2025 12:25

I'd laugh, and appreciate your sense of individuality 😆
Wouldn't put them up in my (boring grey, MN would hate it) house.

Are you being ironic, as they're about as generic as they come?

Neurotoxic · 28/02/2025 12:46

Yeah no offence but it's about as basic and tasteless as it gets as far as home decor goes

ThreeTescoBags · 28/02/2025 12:46

I reckon on the cringe scale it's up the top there with photos from a 'boudoir' photo shoot displayed in your living room and professional family portraits where you're all wearing matching pyjamas.

But, hey, the world would never do if we were all the same

wholettheturnipsburn · 28/02/2025 12:47

Sorry OP

Not something I'd want but not sure how judgey I would
be if you were my friend

HornyHornersPinger · 28/02/2025 12:47

I wouldn't have sweary prints around with young children, kinda implies that swearing is acceptable in general life.
Although, I do have a mat by my front door that says "FFS! WHAT DO YOU WANT NOW?!" but I told 5yo DD the FFS stands for "For five seconds!!" - which I say a lot... 😂

Shoezembagsforever · 28/02/2025 12:49

No way would I have those prints in my home - it's like buying yourself a personality.

howaboutchocolate · 28/02/2025 12:49

The swearing wouldn't bother me so I wouldn't judge that.
I'd still judge though, they are really cringeworthy. If you have to tell people you're so kooky and mad and chaotic and make it your "thing" then you're probably actually quite boring, honestly.

MintTwirl · 28/02/2025 12:49

I would probably chuckle to myself if I saw them. They are quite try hard. People who are genuinely a bit quirky/eccentric are that way without needing to try.
