Would you judge this in someone’s house?

I’m currently re-decorating parts of my house. I’ve come across a website that sells prints for the walls and I’ve found some I really like;

This house is full of love, laughter, and a little bit of what the fuck.

Pardon the mess, I decided not to give a shit today.

If you’re happy and you know it, it’s your meds!

As you can probably tell, our house is already a little bit eccentric with its decor… but would you judge someone for having prints like that on the wall with children living in the house or am I just overthinking it? 😅

Its words, to me, hurt my ears. So if you had those without curse words, no problem

but curse words with kids about, yeah, I’d judge you.

I didn’t say that, you’ve clearly misunderstood the whole conversation. I said it’s not odd to not have other children in the house because my child’s autism and doesn’t like being around other children - nothing to do with the quotes or prints.

Everyone in real life completely understood this. Some posters are genuinely stupid and cannot help it.

I don’t like little framed slogans. But I prefer my friends to not be the same as me so I wouldn’t judge.

LBFseBrom · 01/03/2025 21:59

Well said, MyNDfamily.

This is a made up post.

Blacksheepcat · 01/03/2025 22:05

That’s not eccentric, that’s just tacky. Sorry

Eccentric? Sounds more like some crap from Poundland you'd find in a council flat 😂

Because people with a mortgage would never set foot in Poundland would they? Get over yourself! Do you know how judgy your comment is, and now the laughing emoji doesn’t make it any better.

You do know that your Farrow and Ball paint is the "crap from Poundland" of the middle classes yes? To the point where if you tell people that your house is painted in "Elephant Dick Smeg" gives them contact embarrassment about how try hard you are.

I dont have a mortgage and go into Poundland often. But then picking up stuff from there is how I ended up without the mortgage I used to have......

Julimia · 01/03/2025 22:15

Apart barometer the use of the f word you're overthinking it!

Not a big fan of the ‘live love laugh’ vibe. It I’d personally create a gallery wall of the most inappropriate ones I could find 🤣

personally I have this in my toilet room, and yes my kids see it too 🤯

HarrietsweetHarriet · 01/03/2025 22:54

How about lovely art prints instead? Or screen printed posters such as those sold by Tinsmiths?

Daftypants · 01/03/2025 22:57

They’re a bit naff , I don’t judge the swearing 🤬 but that’s because I don’t have kids in the house any longer .
House of adults here .
We don’t have things like that up on our walls here .
We have prints or limited run prints / Lino cut prints of things we see when out and about / on holiday etc collected over years .

AtomHeartMotherOfGod · 01/03/2025 23:05

I probably would TBH. Sorry.

ForeverDelayedEpiphany · 01/03/2025 23:10

I'd not judge you, no. They aren't appropriate for home with young children, but it's your home, so I think if you had some without swear words on, they might be better.

In my bedroom, there's a poster with a slogan saying "Shine bright like a diamond" to remind me to have some self-love. My self esteem has been at rock bottom for a decade, after a head injury and post concussion syndrome before being injured by psychotropic drugs that gave me a permanent neurological involuntary movement disorder.

If my slogan poster to help me not to feel such despair is on my wall, I couldn't give a crap what others think. You do you, too OP. 💖

Heyheyitsanotherday · 01/03/2025 23:21

Everyone’s different op. And if you and your family like it then go for it. 🙂But to answer your question, yes. I do judge a little. My friend did an elf of the shelf idea which was funny but spelt the word “shit” and I thought she looked a bit of a scrubber (bearing in mind I love a swear- in an appropriate place)

TheseCalmSeas · 01/03/2025 23:40

Yes, it’s outdated and a bit naff

I recently got into painting my own canvases & recommend it

Caerulea · 01/03/2025 23:56

OP - I hope you buy these and as you hang them smile to yourself about all the obnoxious, middle class, snobby arseholes on MN who couldn't bear to be your friends IRL cos you had some naughty swears on your wall! My gosh, won't someone think of the children?!!

Enjoy your your prints :)

WillimNot · 02/03/2025 00:45

I like the if you're happy and you know it it's your meds.

In my pub, we have daft signs, to the point some of our customers have given us some for a wall, it's become a competition to see who can find the naffest one, as my DH thinks they're shite.

Someone else printed one which says this pub runs on sarcasm and inappropriate jokes which I love.

Naff or not it's your home.

Pippyls67 · 02/03/2025 00:52

Not ok with kids in the house. Especially if they have friends visiting. Unless they are very late teens that is.

AuntieLemonade · 02/03/2025 01:14

OP: Am I odd to want this decor on my walls?
MN: Yes you are
OP: No I’m not….

Why ask?

RamsestheDamned · 02/03/2025 01:20

When I lived with my parents as a teen, a potential house sale was turned down because when they came for another viewing they saw my ouija board displayed in my bedroom. It now lives in front of my tv in my living room. When DD was a toddler she used to sound out letters on it now and then. To this day, it's never been anything but a decoration. Nothing paranormal has ever happened as a result of having it. People pearl clutch where they feel like it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Stickystickysticky · 02/03/2025 01:27

I don't like slogan type prints apart from this one , that for some reason really tickled me.
I definitely wouldn't put ones up that you are contemplating Op.

Would you judge this in someone’s house?
Mervyco · 02/03/2025 04:04

Go for it. Your friends and family know who you are. Strangers come into the house, and they go, so what does their opinion matter. As for the kids, they will have a giggle at first/cover their mouth in horror/ roll their eyes and say OH MUM!!!! and forget it in a day or so.
And when you are fed up with them, get something else, Like a print of the Green Lady, or a Butler holding up an umbrella on the beach, and get the aprobation of many of the commentators above. 😴

Rottweilermummy · 02/03/2025 08:44

Depends on age of kids and how much you swear in the house, there are other equally good signs with same sort of message, without the swear words. I like quirky signs and may have the odd one up in my new house, but I still wouldn't have swear words on my walls even with no kids, and I do swear quite a bit lol

happychops · 02/03/2025 09:15

It’s your home so please put whatever you want on your walls! If visitors don’t like them, that’s their issue not yours. I would never comment on or criticise anything in someone’s home - that is just rude.

Eccentric? Sounds more like some crap from Poundland you'd find in a council flat 😂

My late elderly aunt was moved to a small, new council house. The house next door had an expensive looking sign on their wall: Fookem Hall.
I couldn’t believe my eyes. And I couldn’t believe that someone would spend time and money on a sign like that!🤣
