Would you judge this in someone’s house?

I’m currently re-decorating parts of my house. I’ve come across a website that sells prints for the walls and I’ve found some I really like;

This house is full of love, laughter, and a little bit of what the fuck.

Pardon the mess, I decided not to give a shit today.

If you’re happy and you know it, it’s your meds!

As you can probably tell, our house is already a little bit eccentric with its decor… but would you judge someone for having prints like that on the wall with children living in the house or am I just overthinking it? 😅

… and… I was once given a mug of tea in someone’s house which had the following words printed on it: Rearrange to make a well known saying OFF PISS.
Why? Just WHY? 😜

Butterfly292828 · 02/03/2025 12:24

Are they not a bit dated those placks with wording on them?
A big no from me, rude messages/ swearing, especially with kids in the house.

It sounds pathetic and awful. Sorry.

No I wouldn't judge, it's your house and your walls. Kids will hear worse in the school playground.

What’s the actual point of a toilet you can’t shit in?

Wee wee’s and guests lol

nah when we moved into this house we split it internally to make an annexe for mum. She ended up with the two downstairs full bathrooms, we had two bedrooms with en-suites.
was a right pain in the arris! So builder hubby magicked up a space for a downstairs loo in a corner of the hall. It’s been a lifesaver. Part of the renovation eventually gave us a full family bathroom too

I wouldn’t like it. If I were looking around your house to buy it, I think it would be a red flag. Too many swear words - off putting.

Haditwithallofthisrubbish1 · 03/03/2025 09:26

I would judge yes, hate swearing around kids....to put it on your wall is just...ugh

Now that is just silly. You get that the questionable framed wall 'art' doesn't stay when you buy the house, right? And that the tolerance of the vendors for swear words isn't going to have the remotest correlation to the house's suitability for your needs etc?

You got there before me @GlacialLook - what a ridiculous statement!!
A red flag 🚩for buying a house because you don't like someone's wall art 🤔
Seriously, some people are all about the drama.

I wouldn’t have a problem with the language (except for the last one which is pretty offensive to people who need to take antidepressants to function) but if a friend of mine had any quotations whatsoever on their walls I would have to seriously rethink our friendship! These prints are unspeakably naff and show no imagination or originality - in fact the exact opposite of “eccentric”. (Can you tell they are one of my pet hates lol?!)

Reallyneedsaholiday · 03/03/2025 14:28

I wouldn’t bat an eyelid tbh. I even know people who decorate their houses in purple sparkles, but if that’s their taste, it’s their business 🤷‍♀️
The only thing that worries me, is whether I feel “welcome” in your home.

Yes, but the OP asked whether I would judge her. The answer is ‘yes, I would’ and rather negatively too. I did say that if I were looking round the house to buy it, OP would presumably still be living there together with her ‘art’. Of course, it wouldn’t stop me buying the house if I liked it, but the wall art wouldn’t give me a particularly positive impression of the vendor. It doesn’t show a very upmarket taste, that’s all. In the grand scheme of things, I agree it’s not particularly important, but OP wanted a direct answer to her question.

“Upmarket taste”??? 😂😂😂😂

Not a big fan of the ‘live love laugh’ vibe. It I’d personally create a gallery wall of the most inappropriate ones I could find 🤣

personally I have this in my toilet room, and yes my kids see it too 🤯

I have a similar one in my bathroom.

Tunnocksmallow · 04/03/2025 13:54

I’m one for everyone has their own tastes, let people dod what makes them happy on their home. It’s their ‘happy space’

Every person on the planet is not going to like the same thing. If you don’t like it, don’t be an arsehole about what someone has in their home, it’s hurtful; your home is a reflection of you as a person, your personality. Nastily knocking that person’s choices, is almost akin to knocking them.

You can also tactfully acknowledge it’s not to your taste without being cruelly snobbish and bringing “wow, so council house” into it. That’s showing what kind of person you are, and it’s not nice. Some of the loveliest homes I’ve been in, for decoration (and for non judgmental vibes), have been social housing homes.

I like to see funny pictures, signs etc. it gives insight into the people who live there.

Notodrugs · 04/03/2025 19:26

I wouldn't care what anyone else thinks. Your house, your decor choices. Art is SO subjective and I would never judge. I'd probably take them down for photos if you're selling your house in future, but that goes for anything that could be controversial
