Would you judge this in someone’s house?

I’m currently re-decorating parts of my house. I’ve come across a website that sells prints for the walls and I’ve found some I really like;

This house is full of love, laughter, and a little bit of what the fuck.

Pardon the mess, I decided not to give a shit today.

If you’re happy and you know it, it’s your meds!

As you can probably tell, our house is already a little bit eccentric with its decor… but would you judge someone for having prints like that on the wall with children living in the house or am I just overthinking it? 😅

I have "Don't take life too seriously, nobody gets out alive anyway" up in my bedroom. I bought it when my marriage ended. It's the motto I go by and one my marriage almost took from me.

Put whatever you like up but I don't think those ones are particularly eccentric.

Farkinhell · 28/02/2025 17:03

I would (inwardly) judge these in someones home and if asked directly would say something like 'theyre not what I would choose but if you like them that's what's matters'

SackChute · 28/02/2025 17:06

You’ve asked, and I think the 352 replies pretty much say it all.
Yes, you will be judged.

AnnoyedAsAllHeck · 28/02/2025 17:15

I like those sayings that make you smile but since putting them on my wall might get my children more ready to put me into a care home, I reserve my private amusement with sayings to magnets.

I think the signs you shared are funny and if you want them in your house, go for it.

But then, I also find the signs on public light boards and "accidental" funny public signs funny. And sarcastic signs. That's just the direction my canoe paddles. 😉😇😎🙃😜

Topsy44 · 28/02/2025 17:18

Yes I would judge you and I wouldn’t be happy about my DD coming over to see your DC. If you had swearing on the walls with DC it would make me question your boundaries for other things.

EconomyClassRockstar · 28/02/2025 17:18

Op, it’s your house. Put whatever you damn well want on your own walls and don’t give a flying rats arse what anyone else thinks. That’s the joy of being an adult.

Hairyesterdaygonetoday · 28/02/2025 17:20

Why would you write fuck and shit on your own walls?

unlikelywitch · 28/02/2025 17:22

Eccentric might not be the right word to describe your house. Maybe colourful and kitsch would be more accurate!

I wouldn’t have quotes or slogans in my house but I certainly wouldn’t make a value judgement on someone who did. Having the word fuck scrolled across your walls is a different matter, though. Not appropriate when you have young kids.

Coralsunset · 28/02/2025 17:22

I would think you were incredibly “try hard” in terms of “look at me, I’m wacky I am” and feel rather sorry for you.

Picklepower · 28/02/2025 17:22

I would judge. Not because of the swearing just because it's tacky as fuck to have these 'quotes' up on your walls. Very 'live, laugh, love'.

They’re out dated already, that was about 5 years ago.

I've seen people with signs saying 'bath' above the bath and 'wash' above the sink but never 'poo' above the bog.

Seems woefully lacking to me.

Cry for help?

Especially if you write the latter using the same.

Dancygigglebox · 28/02/2025 17:29

there we are then

menopausalfart · 28/02/2025 17:29

My motto is buy what you love. You can't go wrong.
Don't buy stuff just because everyone else buys it. Those houses look soulless.

wrongthinker · 28/02/2025 17:33

All the middle-class MN bullies... saying the exact same things. You think the same, you decorate your houses the same, and you cannot help but leap in with scorn and derision whenever anyone presents you with a chance to feel superior.

Don't take it to heart, OP. Enjoy your house however you choose.

DalzielOrNoDalzielAndDontPascoe · 28/02/2025 17:34

I used to regularly walk past a house where they had chunky white wooden blocks on the window sill spelling out LOVE, with the relevant letter printed on all faces of its respective block.

Only problem is that they were obviously arranged with the benefit of the residents in mind, so to anybody passing by, it just looked they were villains by their own admission, but ones who were bad at spelling Grin

QOD · 28/02/2025 17:35

Someone bought me

live
laugh
love
don’t be a cunt

but I don’t have little kids and will eventually put it out in my bar when I can be arsed

Op asked if people would judge. Are only the people who would t judge allowed to respond?

Oh lord

i have a sign in the downstairs loo that says

‘please don’t poo in the downstairs loo’

(because it’s a macerater and it’s shit. Pardon the pun)

Bentoforthehorde · 28/02/2025 17:38

Well, this has been nice.

Get whatever you want for your walls OP.
You are the one looking at it and enjoying it.

One of our DC with Autism would be quite happy to never have an unrelated child in the house, so that isn't weird to me at all.

The OP asked for opinions on whether they would judge her.
People gave their opinions. That is not the definition of bullying.

CuteKoalas · 28/02/2025 17:40

I wouldn't judge.
