Would you judge this in someone’s house?

I’m currently re-decorating parts of my house. I’ve come across a website that sells prints for the walls and I’ve found some I really like;

This house is full of love, laughter, and a little bit of what the fuck.

Pardon the mess, I decided not to give a shit today.

If you’re happy and you know it, it’s your meds!

As you can probably tell, our house is already a little bit eccentric with its decor… but would you judge someone for having prints like that on the wall with children living in the house or am I just overthinking it? 😅

Nope. They aren't to my taste but not much is! If you like them, go ahead.

I would think it is very chavvy and really meh. But i dont have to live there it s your house.

Same.

catgirl1976 · 01/03/2025 18:33

I wouldn’t judge the swearing but I think it’s a bit twee like all the live laugh love shite so I’d judge you for that

Mumoftwochildrenand6furkids · 01/03/2025 18:35

Not my thing but no Id never judge an friend or family member for having them up, Your walls your choice.😀

Wow, I didn’t expect so many responses!

I’m not ‘trying’ to be eccentric at all, I just have very different tastes! For example, I have quite a lot of tapestries on the walls in the house and on the ceilings, quite unique patterns too - mushrooms with eyes etc - because I like them and they make my house feel like a home to me.

I also have quite unique prints in my house already - my dog dressed up in military uniform, old paintings of Victorian people wearing balloon hats - again, because I like them.

We are a household where we say what we think and don’t really hold back, so it doesn’t bother me having swear prints on the walls. In terms of other children, no other children come into the house so that’s not an issue. I’m not “being mean to people with mental health issues” either as I have plenty of them myself and quite like the tongue in cheek aspect of quotes like that.

You don't sound like your worry too much what people think so why are you asking people's opinions on the internet?

Kindyeah · 01/03/2025 18:42

They’re not eccentric at all. They’re common. Same as ‘this house does Disney’ and the rest. I wouldn’t judge you for kids seeing them but would judge your taste. It’s so twee.

Tunnocksmallow · 01/03/2025 18:50

OP, last time I checked it was up to you what you had in your own home, and you don’t need anybody else’s permission to have what YOU like in there. If your friends are judging you for what you decorate your house with, are they really friends?
Not everyone is going to have the same tastes, and that’s OK.

Honestly, the way some people judge others on here, you’d think that they lived in the equivalent of the Palace of Versailles or some such.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learnt not to give a flying fig about what people think of my home, it mine and my family’s place of safety and comfort, and if they don’t like it, then they don’t need to visit do they. Be happy and confident in your decisions.

kattaduck · 01/03/2025 18:57

I mean you are clearly one of those "look at me aren't I crazy types of people" and your decor reflects that. If I just got to know you I would be a little bit wary because I don't really gel with these kinds of people. Would be the same if you decorated your house in football memorabilia or british flags. Probably not my kind of person.
I just wonder why you"ll ask opinions the true eccentric people I know don't care. And don't call themselves eccentric either. That's something like stylish, that other people ascribe to you.

Bobbinette · 01/03/2025 19:09

Don’t get me wrong I love quirky stuff but personally I dislike swearing in front of children, especially when other kids might be around too. It shows a lack of respect towards them. These all sound really naff. Have you nothing nicer to spend your money on?

savethatkitty · 01/03/2025 19:16

Heavens to Betsy. The people who judge you are the ones who need meds, pronto. If it suits your personality, go for it! Don't live for others.

JMSA · 01/03/2025 19:18

Well, it wouldn't be for me!

bettydavieseyes · 01/03/2025 19:19

I'd find it amusing but I wouldn't want swear words on my wall with kids in the house. I wouldn't judge you though, especially if you're a good mum. I would just think you're quirky. I also have tapestries and a sort of bohemian look in my house.

JustMeAndTheFish · 01/03/2025 19:27

You do you OP. You don’t need anyone’s approval 😁

DuchessofSuffolk · 01/03/2025 19:30

I would want to be your friend and would invite you to mine for wine 😂😂

MaggieMistletoe · 01/03/2025 19:34

I can't think of anything more cheap and tacky personally but you should do what makes you happy in your own home.

DiduAye · 01/03/2025 19:34

If you like them have them it's naff all to do with anyone else!

ttcat37 · 01/03/2025 19:37

I’d probably assume the owners are the kind of people that say ‘cockwomble’ and ‘twat waffle’ because they think it’s original and hilarious

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 01/03/2025 19:38

Man alive i hate those pseudo twee swear words.

supersop60 · 01/03/2025 19:50

I don't think I'd judge you, but I know I'd get very bored of reading the same thing over and over again. I don't like writing on clothes either.

ClassicalQueen · 01/03/2025 19:52

I think it's quite tacky, I'd silently judge you.

Horses7 · 01/03/2025 19:57

Yikes - just nooooo! There’s lots of really nice artwork around but hey live, laugh, love!

carchi · 01/03/2025 20:27

The thing is that while the quotes are mildly amusing the first time you see them the joke would soon wear off being read every day.

TheMauveBeaker · 01/03/2025 21:02

Yeah, I’d judge. But I can’t stand what I consider naff signs. No doubt everyone’s decor gets judged to a degree though.

PorridgeEater · 01/03/2025 21:29

If you want your child to learn to swear this would be one way to encourage it.
Since you ask, yes I would judge.

Eccentric? Sounds more like some crap from Poundland you'd find in a council flat 😂
