Would you judge this in someone’s house?

I’m currently re-decorating parts of my house. I’ve come across a website that sells prints for the walls and I’ve found some I really like;

This house is full of love, laughter, and a little bit of what the fuck.

Pardon the mess, I decided not to give a shit today.

If you’re happy and you know it, it’s your meds!

As you can probably tell, our house is already a little bit eccentric with its decor… but would you judge someone for having prints like that on the wall with children living in the house or am I just overthinking it? 😅

Yes, I definitely would. Awful

Noodles1234 · 28/02/2025 19:11

Honestly yes. I’d think they were naff and tacky and if I had young children with me I wouldn’t stop but I also wouldn’t be overly fussed them being over seeing this.

i do however have a friend who has a small something along these lines and I was a little shocked. Just not me.

LoztWorld · 28/02/2025 19:16

The thing about these kinds of signs is they’re associated with being basic/bland/dull/a “hun” and so forth.

So if you’re specifically looking for eccentric decor, as you say, this is the very opposite.

If that doesn’t bother you, go wild. Not to my tastes but everyone is different.

PacificAtlantic · 28/02/2025 19:18

It’s all personal taste. Prints with words don’t seem to age that well and I find them a bit cringe worthy. They seem to be the home decor equivalent of disposable fashion.
That being said the ones you have mentioned are better than most.

Doingmybestbut · 28/02/2025 19:35

I don’t think that’s someone I would be friends with personally, but it takes all sorts as they say. Probably some people would love it.

tattoonewbie · 28/02/2025 20:04

I'd say it's ok to describe it like that verbally but on a print? No. Sorry

Differentstarts · 28/02/2025 20:21

What in the live, laugh, love are you thinking.

LazyArsedMagician · 28/02/2025 22:14

I don't like them but I wouldn't say anything.

charabang · 28/02/2025 22:42

I wouldn't judge. I'm a firm believer in decorating to please yourself and not an audience. If these prints have taken your fancy...buy em!

Superhansrantowindsor · 28/02/2025 22:47

Just weird.
surely you’d get sick of seeing the same words everyday?
Buy a painting instead.

L0309 · 28/02/2025 22:58

I would think, “this is my kind of person” 😀

God…

Harry12345 · 01/03/2025 00:21

I wouldn’t judge, I’ve been brought up not to judge people for the decor of their homes and what they look like. I have friends with all different weird and wacky styles and more glamorous ones with classier homes, I wouldn’t judge any of them as it’s very superficial to do that

LittleBigHead · 01/03/2025 07:33

Naff and common

Smallsalt · 01/03/2025 07:46

Too busy cringing to judge

UnhappyAndYouKnowIt · 01/03/2025 07:48

I couldn't really give a shit what someone else has on their walls, short of a Nazi or Confederate flag.

And it all depends where and how big, etc.

I dated someone who had a poster in the guest bathroom that said "Holy Shitballs, you're awesome!" 🤷‍♀️

I don't know if that's better or worse than realising I have the same Frieda Khalo print as two of my coworkers.

LBFseBrom · 01/03/2025 07:54

I don't feel it is necessary to have statements actually written and displayed, that is rather childish and like graffiti. Could do without the F word, visiting children will pick it up and start using. Nothing wrong with the sentiments. That's my opinion. It's up to you what you do in your house anyway, I wouldn't judge you.

Headingtowardsdivorce · 01/03/2025 08:05

My first thought would probably be "hmm, not sure about these, bit naff", closely followed by a quiet admiration for you obviously not giving a shit about what anyone else thinks and decorating your house how you like.

Goldengirl123 · 01/03/2025 10:07

Very cheap and nasty

AllyCart · 01/03/2025 10:48

We are a household where we say what we think and don’t really hold back, so it doesn’t bother me having swear prints on the walls.

When I posted previously I nearly added, 'it smacks of someone who thinks "I always speak my mind" is a good quality, as they lack empathy and emotional intelligence'.

And there we are.

Thepeopleversuswork · 01/03/2025 10:54

@AllyCart

Yeah this. People with no filter are rarely good at building lasting relationships or navigating the basic diplomacy of life.

It's not a positive quality and certainly not one you really want to advertise by plastering it on the walls. Look at our Orange friend on the other side of the Atlantic. The people who will be charmed by this are unintelligent and reactionary.

I don't have a problem with swearing (appropriately and among adults) or some of the sentiments you have expressed but some things are best kept for between friends.

Susan7654 · 01/03/2025 17:50

Find something really funny, not trying to be funny

TheWorminLabyrinth · 01/03/2025 17:53

Wouldn't give two fucks about the "someone think of the children aspect".

If you were my friend and you asked my opinion, I'd say these are totally naff and "i'm a bit mad, me", take them down immediately.

If you were an acquaintance then I'd say nothing and my opinion wouldn't matter to you anyway because we would just be acquaintances!

In short, it's your gaff, do as you please.

BambinaCucina · 01/03/2025 18:04

I hate swearing at/around children, so it's a no from me.

I wouldn't have them without the swearing either, mind you. But you'd probably think my house is boring, so you do you.

Ilovecleaning · 01/03/2025 18:09

Tacky and just as tasteless as those ‘Dance In the Rain’ things. Displayed by people who are self-consciously trying to be ‘alternative’. Just yuck.
And definitely not with kids in the house.
