Woman 19 dies in dog attack in Bristol

Apologies if there’s already a thread on this, but how many more lives have to be taken in these horrific attacks before the Government admit that the current measures are failing. It surely has come to the point now that all XL Bullies should be euthanised.

Exactly. And just like we got the bully XL from America, now you’re starting to see more of the furry gunslingers. It’s totally out of control.

What an idiot to leave a loaded gun lying about where a dog can tread on it..
Darwin Award.

Although the gun was left on the side by the woman he was having sex with.

Maybe it was her who shot him and he blamed the dog.. we will never know.

Poor old dogs get blamed for everything - farting, eating homework….shooting their owners

This thread is funny.

I do think the posters who are saying “ban ALL dogs” are actually trying to wind the rest of us up, it’s such a ridiculous suggestion. I’m just imagining having a load of daschund’s running around and someone shouting “lock your doors! They’re vicious!” 😂😂

I truly would be beyond delighted if dogs disappeared from the face of the planet. I have been in countries where pet dogs aren't a thing, and I wish I'd had the foresight to emigrate. Maybe I will still, once my children are out of school years. At that stage, dog worship wasn't the lunacy here in the UK like it is now. There is a dog in our neighbourhood who howls every night at around 11pm, keeping me awake, for about half an hour. I can't tell where it is coming from, as it's a crowded block of houses and flats. There's a dog a few doors down who yaps shrilly every time someone walks past. There are many dogs in my area who make a racket either very early in the morning, or before bedtime. Then there's all the shit on the pavements, or hanging in bags on trees. Then there's the risk of getting bitten, or worse, mauled to death. They also stink, and I have cut off friendships because I won't entertain going to someone's home, because of the smell, and the lack of hygiene.
So yeah, I genuinely would be thrilled if a virus wiped them all out.

dashunds are horrible vicious things.
There's no need for them and yes, I'd happily wipe them off the face of the earth along with all other non useful dogs ( and I'm not talking emotional support bs)

Snowmanscarf · 13/03/2025 13:33

Passed a daschund on my walk this morning with a ‘in training’ banner attached to the lead, and the owners were brilliant and were training it not to bark, so well done young couple. Other daschunds are vicious little thugs.

"During the night of March 10 this year, in an apartment on Kommunistichesky Avenue, a pet dachshund bit a baby girl born in 2025 while she was sleeping in her crib. Her mother later found the child's lifeless body with multiple bite wounds," officials with the Investigative Committee said.
The baby was born on February 10, 2025, into a well-off family. As soon as the infant was brought home, the dachshund began showing aggression and jealousy toward the child.
To prevent incidents, the girl's parents decided to keep the dog tied up indoors. However, on the night of March 10, 2025, the father took the dog out for a walk and forgot to tie it up before bed. The dachshund killed the infant.
The one-month-old babygirl died of asphyxiation. The dog first pinned down and suffocated the baby before biting her.

Details

The dachshund, also known as the wiener dog or sausage dog, badger dog and doxie, is a short-legged, long-bodied, hound-type dog breed. The dog may be smooth-haired, wire-haired, or long-haired, with varied coloration. The dachshund was bred to scent, chase, and flush out badgers and other burrow-dwelling animals. The miniature dachshund was bred to hunt small animals such as rabbits. The dachshund was ranked 9th in registrations with the American Kennel Club in 2022.

A dachshund that police said dragged a 6-week-old baby from his playpen and mauled him was put to death yesterday, St. Mary's County animal control officials said, ending a 10-day effort by the breed's admirers to save the tiny dog.

The 4-year-old male miniature dachshund died at 9:38 a.m., quickly succumbing to a lethal dose of sodium pentobarbital at the Tri-County Animal Shelter in Hughesville, in Charles County, said Dave Wagner, the facility's assistant supervisor. "It was less than two minutes before his heart completely stopped," he said.
The death was requested by the parents of Andrew Tyler Meyers, whose mother found him being attacked on the floor by the family's dachshund Dec. 15, Maryland State Police said. The boy suffered severe injuries to his feet, legs and head, and at one point upon reaching Children's Hospital in Washington, he stopped breathing and had to be resuscitated, police said.

A coroner has urged dog owners to be vigilant to the possibility that their pets can turn violent out of jealousy after hearing that a four-month-old was attacked and killed by a dog who pulled the infant from her basket.
Cork City Coroner Philip Comyn said the death of Mia O’Connell following the incident at her family’s home on St Mochua’s Terrace in Clashmore, Co Waterford on the night of June 6th, 2021 was a terrible tragedy.
Mr Comyn returned a verdict of misadventure as he believed there had been a missed opportunity to prevent the incident. He said it was clear that the Dachshund-Terrier cross named Red had previously tried to snap at Mia when she first arrived into the home.

The inquest heard Mia O’Connell was found on the floor beside overturned Moses basket and bloodied Dachshund-Terrier cross

What a waste of human life, for what? Dogs. Awful awful awful. Yet people worship them, devote their lives by them. I wish so much they would all disappear.

I disagree with this.

Imagine if, over night, the government banned people from keeping dogs as pets.

What would the many people who make a living based on dog ownership now do? The professional trainers, dog paraphernalia manufacturers etc? Pet shops would have a sharp decline in sales and have to lay off staff. Ditto vets. I’m sure there are plenty of other examples.

And then, what would we do with puppies that had gone through training as service dogs but, for whatever reason, didn’t made the ‘cut’ - they can’t be adopted out if pet dogs were no longer allowed so would we euthanise them?

Not to mention the world would just be a much sadder place

What would the many people who make a living based on dog ownership now do? The professional trainers, dog paraphernalia manufacturers etc?

Presumably they have transferrable skills. They would get proper jobs doing something useful.

A few years ago, I met a dog that was a cross between a sausage dog and a lab. It was literally a sausage dog with a lab's head. It looked very strange! Even the owner said so 😄

Exactly. And we said the same of all jobs that have now become defunct. Like slave traders, or bear-baiters, or lamplighters, or bowling alley pin setters - should we have stuck to the old ways just so they could keep their jobs? No - we have progressed. In the same way, I do think we will progress from dog nuttery, but sadly it is a way off yet. Same as people viewed smoking in the seventies as something they'd never ban. Now it's banned in public buildings, which is a start.

If dogs were not already established as a pet, and someone suggest a dog as a pet, people would think they were mad.

Exactly!

hey! Would you like a slobbery stinky beast in your home, anus out, dragging around on your flooring and soft furnishings? Would you like to pay several hundred £ a month for the privilege? Would you like your house to smell of dog? Would you like slobber on your walls/soft furnishings? Would you like to be bitten? Potentially mauled to death? Lose a limb, sometimes? Would you like to pick up poo in a plastic bag? Would you like to be restricted in your comings and goings?
I truly think dog people are brainwashed.

YeOldeGreyhound · 13/03/2025 17:38

FFS, if you don't like dogs, then don't have one. They bring joy to their owners and can enrich their lives. There is no need to call people who have dogs brainwashed. No need at all.

My DD was bitten by a dachshund last year. It’s an aggressive little thing. That said, I’m not worrying that it will kill someone.

Not sure how you'd replace a guide dog

I am sure the scientists will develop ways. Heck, if we hadn't wasted so much money on guide dogs up to now, we'd probably have a better solution. Same for sniffer dogs. I am sure robots can replace them all.
