I put this in AIBU for traffic. I am furious and I know what I’m feeling is reasonable. Trump has convinced/bullied whatever Romania into releasing the bastards and has allowed them to fly to America. They are on their way to Florida. No doubt to be wined and dined at bloody Maralago. They will now have a luxury life and continue to be able to abuse and exploit women and girls and also corrupt the minds of boys and young men. 😡

Trumps just said he doesn't know anything about it.

RafaistheKingofClay · 27/02/2025 18:37

He also seems to have said that Starmer is a special man and I’m fairly certain that wasn’t what he’s was saying a few weeks ago when Musk was kicking off about the grooming gang inquiries.

RafaistheKingofClay · 27/02/2025 18:39

And denied that he said that Zelensky was a dictator.

So we probably know how seriously to take his claim that he knew nothing about it.

NewMarmiteJar · 27/02/2025 18:40

Watching the BBCs live news I don't know what's real anymore.

er, yes we can. When the crimes are serious enough. When they’re a flight risk for example. Or if they’re a danger to the public.
or if they are in a position to intimidate witnesses … all of which they are Sex trafficking, abuse, rape …

Allegedly.

Wildflowers99 · 27/02/2025 18:55

If this doesn’t show the cultural differences between the USA and the UK, I don’t know what does. I feel like people are often fooled into thinking we’re very similar because they speak English and the States feels familiar from being on TV. But our mindsets feel worlds apart, and despite the language barriers, right now this has cemented my feeling that our natural home is with the EU countries.

We desperately need to get back in the EU and reconnect so we are not forced to suck up to this monstrosity. I so wish Starmer would just make a unilateral decision to do it and fuck the Brexit referendum. It was near on 10 years ago and all it’s done is make us weaker and more isolated.

Of course you can - have you never heard of remand or internment? They weren't even 'locked up', they were on bail but had their passports seized as they were a flight risk.

Incorrect. They were imprisoned in Romania for 3 months. Then placed under house arrest after that. Authorities have now lifted the travel restrictions.

LaceApplique · 27/02/2025 19:00

wholettheturnipsburn · 27/02/2025 15:57

Do you not recognise the legitimacy of the Romanian legal process?

It is the Romanian authorities who have lifted the travel restrictions. Do you?

LaceApplique · 27/02/2025 19:02

StrikeAlways · 27/02/2025 17:05

They were not locked up. They had their passports held whilst the case came to court because they were a flight risk. Do you really have a problem with that given that they were charged with multiple rapes, trafficking of children and money laundering?

What are you on about? They were imprisoned for 3 months and put under house arrest after that.

The governor of my beloved home state of Florida said a few hours ago that they are not welcome in Florida, and that the state will be looking to see if any crimes were committed in Florida so they can be tried under state law. The penalty for sex trafficking is 30 years and the penalty for rape of a minor (aggravated sexual battery) is life without the possibility of parole.

Let's hope they effed up in Florida, because my state will get them if they did.

That would be excellent, but wouldn’t Trump gave a way of crushing it?

At the outset, but they have not been locked up for some time. They were simply prevented from leaving the country. Do you really think splitting hairs over this is in any way important?

Yes I do. I wouldn't call it splitting hairs, when you said they had done no jail time but they have. I'd say spending months in prison, then further months under house arrest is pretty significant if the person has not been convicted of a crime.

'but they have not been locked up for some time.' Well why should they be? They haven't been found guilty.

I'm sorry but I think a lot of people let their judgment get clouded by their opinions of the people involved. I think they are a pair of arseholes as much as the next woman, I just don't think it is right to punish/penalise someone until they have been found guilty (with a few exceptions)

Notonthestairs · 27/02/2025 19:34

"In a video explaining why he moved to Romania, he said "probably 40% of the reason" he moved was because it would be easier to evade rape charges."

Maybe if they'd stayed in the UK they could have cleared that up.

Yes they are a pair of twats, but they have not been found guilty. We can't have a situation where the authorities can lock people up for an indefinite period of time or impose strict rules upon their life without being convicted. It would be a slippery slope indeed!

They fled before their trial. They have escaped justice, that's different from not being found guilty

FFS what? Am I making too much sense.

You are entitled to feel pissed off about them flying to Florida, that doesn't mean they should be prevented from doing so as they haven't been found guilty... yet.

Babybaby2025 · 27/02/2025 20:34

Im fairly clued up I've been following the case quite closely. I'll correct some incorrect statements.

They werent being "held indefinitely: in romania, their case was huge, involves multiple victims accross different countries, involves 4 perpetrators (tates and 2 ladies who were the violent enforcement in the trafficking operation, also involves other crimes such as money laundering inciting violence, rape and influencing statements.

During the initial investigation, a further pool of victims were uncovered. Which includes trafficking victims, trafficking minors and andrew has evidence of anally raping a minor.

So there are two criminal investigations on going, and at the conclusion of the investigation they should go to trial.

Reasons it is taking so long.

  1. It's just a long process, even in uk and America a trafficking/organised crime case can take several years to conclude.
  2. Their case is MASSIVE.
  3. tates can afford the very best legal team, and they have done every delaying / postponing tactic possible to avoid trial.

Alongside this, the tates also have an expedition arrest warrant to the UK who are trial ready for criminal proceedings in the UK, for rape and trafficking. The agreement was that romania concludes their trial/sentencing then the uk will have them.

It was rumoured a couple of weeks ago, members of MAGA crew attempted to encourage romsnian prosecutors to ease travel restrictions. A possible theory for this is many are likely members of tates war room, a network where men discuss strategies of pyschological manipulation, isolating women, and coercing women into sex work. Discussing tests to see how susceptible women/girls are to manipulation, e.g agreeing to brand them with their names, getting then to do pointless favours. For example Candace owens husband is a member.

Alternatively, it could just be that tates views on beating/raping women allign with their views.

Romania released a statement saying that their request to leave was to tend to a family matter, and they must return end of March, however I don't think romania will have much luck enforcing that.

Florida has just reported theyll instigate their own investigation today.

They are prolific liars, and unfortunately people don't fact check they just take their word for it.

At present, it's obvious they are attempting to flee justice, and have used bribes/corruption in their favour.

In addition to the 3 pending criminal charges, there's a civil case in the UK for rape and abuse, and a civil case in florida.

The Florida case is particularly insidious, the lady is the first victim who managed to escape. The tates tried to sue her for false allegations, and named her, they said she lead an ex to kill himself and had accused several men of trafficking. Non of which was true, the reality of the story is she was a vulnerable young lady (orphan from a third world country) and when she was a minor she was raped by older men (aged 30-50), one of which was jailed. Tates lawyers displayed the men who engaged in relationships with her as a minor as the victims, and her, a child, as a "romance scammer". The woman and her parents had to go into hiding as she received threats. Tates did this as a display of what happens if you attempt to speak out against them.

They are very evil men, please don't write them off as not a big deal. These men have a large following of young men/boys.

Its scary.

The evidence is abundant they are traffickers, teachers of trafficking, rapists, abusers and peadophiles. They are just very good at spinning the media narrative that all of their legal drama is because they are "controversial".

If they successfully manage to evade justice in romania and uk, it's a travesty.

Sorry for long post. (And likely poorly written as its done on my phone)

Babybaby2025 · 27/02/2025 20:42

LaceApplique · 27/02/2025 20:07

The didn't flee. The Romanian authorities lifted their travel restrictions.

We will see, its only meant to be a temporary lift to deal with family matters, then to return to romania to continue with the legal proceedings. Let's see if they actually do that.

There is also a lot of evidence to support this temporary lift was due to corruption/bribery. Which I'd also describe as "fleeing".
