Mad neighbour..

At the back of my house, not attached to but in a little block, there are 11 garages, 6 on one side, and 5 on the other.

On the side of 6, i have the use (because i rent the pair) of 2 garages, next to each other. One of the garages has no garage opposite it. Between the 2 sets of garages, there is space for a car to be parked outside (perpendicular to the garage) on either side, and for a car to drive between.
I have fiat 500, ( tiny car) that I park right up to my garage. The garage opposite has had the garage door blocked up and the family access it as storage from their garden, the ones next to me are owned by my neighbour who uses them for storage and doesn't need access. Essentially, me parking there blocks no one.
Man along the road recently got a van from work, he has started parking outside his garage ( this blocks the garage to the side of him but is not impacting me, no issue)
I have parked my car, and am away for the half term.
This morning I get a call from my neighbour to tell me that van man is looking for me as I have blocked him in.
Only, I haven't.

His mate from work has left his van in front of the neighbours van, outside someone else's garage and gone somewhere on a training course. And taken the key to the van with him.
This means that as he has parked badly, neighbour now cant get his van out.
He wants my number from neighbour, or neighbour to pass on the message to me that I have to come home to move my car so he can get out.

As his mate is at work, he cant? / wont be able to move it till some later point.

Apparently I (according to the rant he gave my neighbour) 'stupid fuckin women drivers, she cant fucking park' have caused him to lose a days pay...

Ive had a look at the footage from my dash as I was a bit confused...My car was parked there Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday, neighbour comes and goes merrily. He comes home Thursday, his mate turns up later, and then the neighbour realises this morning that he is stuck...

How the hell does he think this is my issue????
Im not back till Sunday. Neighbour technically 'could' go in and get my spare key. AIBU to think, fuck it, this stupid woman driver will let you figure it out yourself?

You could always ring the company they both work for and make a complaint or at least ask if they’ll give a spare key to van man so he’ll leave you alone. Possibly a bit more direct than the funny, cheeky responses you’ve given so far but seriously…

The problem for him is that he cant see the block from his house, so I can leave and come back and he wont know. I want to just turn the car and put it back, just to wind him up

PERFECTION 😚

KateShugakIsALegend · 24/02/2025 19:01

I would complain to the company.

You have been verbally abused when someone else is at fault.

SlimeSuspect · 24/02/2025 19:14

@WooleyMunky I love this comment so much!

“The van twat needs to be contacting the other van twat.”

Lovemeapickledgherkin · 24/02/2025 19:52

Not the point of the thread, but wondering why you are parking on the street rather than in one of your 2 garages? Especially as you are away on holiday?
I’ll probably get blasted for this but genuinely curious.

Introducingme · 24/02/2025 19:56

@Lovemeapickledgherkin OP explained her car is a two door and the garage was built in the 70s so to small to fit the car.

Eze · 24/02/2025 20:27

Definitely ring the company and tell them the spare van is blocking everyone in because mad neighbour will be round every night banging on your door telling you to move until the other bloke comes back from his holidays.

He’ll have told work it’s your fault he’s blocked in too. I’d get a lot of satisfaction changing that narrative. Twat.

She's already explained why..........

Edited

TBH, im shocked that a company with a fleet havent got some form of video software / dash cam, so they can see the position of the vans.

I think you need to get another neighbour to take a photo of the badly parked van and post it on the local bad parking Facebook page and take the company that owns it.

Also id not be moving until van twat apologises if that's possible... Might need to rent another car for that.

AuntieLemonade · 24/02/2025 21:19

This is SUBLIME 👌

Please turn the car around on the sly and leave dash cam running. We’ll do a go fund me if it kills your battery. After a week of it being “broken down” obvs…

Fraaances · 24/02/2025 21:20

I think OP needs to take photos of BOTH vans (and send security video evidence that her car was there first) and let the company know that one of their representatives was threatening a woman in her own home because they had played “Big Man” by offering someone else’s garage to a colleague and ended up getting himself stuck.

LunchtimeNaps · 24/02/2025 21:34

What a cheek he starts on you when he needs your help. I would have told him any favour you were going to do him sailed off down the river after his cuntish behaviour.

AnxiouslyAwaitingSpring · 24/02/2025 22:33

Please let me pay for your taxis so that you can leave it there for a few extra days! 🙏

MissHollysDolly · 24/02/2025 22:37

Is your car still there OP?

oldmoaner · 24/02/2025 22:44

If the van driver dosnt live there, why is van parked there? Ask your neighbour for number on side of van then ring the company and say the vans parked causing an obstruction and where it is. Withhold your number when you report it 😂🤣

allthemiddlechildrenoftheworld · 24/02/2025 22:59

@Notsomarryfloppins more to the point, why did the employee who abandoned his van, not just leave his van at his own house or even take it to his works yard?

Stars2theside · 25/02/2025 01:39

OP we need an update please!!

Surely she can just go to the van and read it?

OP I would definitely contact the company and let them know the situation. Your van-driving neighbour is a bully and a prick. Let his company deal with him.

Weezypopsy · 25/02/2025 08:29

Well done OP! Sounds like you handled it brilliantly!

Walkacrossthesand · 25/02/2025 08:43

Now, if it were a woman offering a parking place to a colleague, she'd have offered her own (doesn't block anyone) space, and come & go herself, parking where she could ie probably wouldn't have offered the parking as it's not hard to see it's tight there . Women, eh?! 😉

Ring the company and report an abandoned van!

Notsomarryfloppins · 25/02/2025 17:14

I went out, (in the car) from 8.30 till 11ish, got back....both vans still there.

I wasn't going to go and tell him, but he had opportunity to move his van.

Neighbour later went to his garage for something and van man was round there. Van man had a dig at me to neighbour, neighbour pointed out the fact I had moved the car, it was his own fault for being in the situation and that being rude about me wasn't helping himself. He apparently doubled down and was rude about me again. Neighbour has now called the company and made a complaint.

I don't know what he has said, but he's quite a 'proper' older gent, ( has been lovely to me since I moved here, offers help and is generally lovely) and he doesn't like people being rude or using foul language
