Mad neighbour..

At the back of my house, not attached to but in a little block, there are 11 garages, 6 on one side, and 5 on the other.

On the side of 6, i have the use (because i rent the pair) of 2 garages, next to each other. One of the garages has no garage opposite it. Between the 2 sets of garages, there is space for a car to be parked outside (perpendicular to the garage) on either side, and for a car to drive between.
I have fiat 500, ( tiny car) that I park right up to my garage. The garage opposite has had the garage door blocked up and the family access it as storage from their garden, the ones next to me are owned by my neighbour who uses them for storage and doesn't need access. Essentially, me parking there blocks no one.
Man along the road recently got a van from work, he has started parking outside his garage ( this blocks the garage to the side of him but is not impacting me, no issue)
I have parked my car, and am away for the half term.
This morning I get a call from my neighbour to tell me that van man is looking for me as I have blocked him in.
Only, I haven't.

His mate from work has left his van in front of the neighbours van, outside someone else's garage and gone somewhere on a training course. And taken the key to the van with him.
This means that as he has parked badly, neighbour now cant get his van out.
He wants my number from neighbour, or neighbour to pass on the message to me that I have to come home to move my car so he can get out.

As his mate is at work, he cant? / wont be able to move it till some later point.

Apparently I (according to the rant he gave my neighbour) 'stupid fuckin women drivers, she cant fucking park' have caused him to lose a days pay...

Ive had a look at the footage from my dash as I was a bit confused...My car was parked there Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday, neighbour comes and goes merrily. He comes home Thursday, his mate turns up later, and then the neighbour realises this morning that he is stuck...

How the hell does he think this is my issue????
Im not back till Sunday. Neighbour technically 'could' go in and get my spare key. AIBU to think, fuck it, this stupid woman driver will let you figure it out yourself?

Abso- bloody- lutely, not your problem at all! Well done.
Van man is a total and utter mysogynistic pr*ck.
Can't wait for an update next week, where you tell van man his van mate is "the stupid fkg woman that doesn't even know how to park" 😂😂😂
Love the way these men with arrested development direct their ire at the wrong person!

Gingerkittykat · 24/02/2025 12:23

Why do none of you actually park inside your garages instead of outside them?

LittleRedYarny · 24/02/2025 12:54

Any update OP?

@Gingerkittykat if it’s like the garage I have in a bloc, they were built in the 70s for 70s sized cars - modern cars are just too big for them.

I used to rent one just like that, bloody hell they are small. A Ford Focus would fit no problem but a Ford Focus estate? No chance, too bloody long. And a normal SUV is too tall also. These garages were built low and slim.

Fraaances · 24/02/2025 13:14

I’d suggest that the owners of the garage being blocked by missing van man get it towed if it’s obstructing the road.

The garages are tiny. My car fits in it, but as it's a 3 door the doors are heavy and long so getting in and out is hard. Anything bigger isn't fitting

He knocked last night, said I had blocked him in and made him lose a day's pay.
I went to the block with him so he could show me.
I pretended to be confused as his work van was right there at thr front...then I noticed the 2nd van behind and questioned how he got it in there...he then had to admit the infront van was a colleague, I asked why he couldn't move it. Apparently he isn't on a course, he's left it there to go on holiday.
I said I wasn't able to move mine as I'd been drinking, he offered to move it for me. I declined, insurance issues, and said that I wasn't parked badly, the other van was.
He did try to pressure me into it, but I'm not easily moved. I told him my car would move at some point today.
I also suggested he called his boss / company / owner etc to ask for the spare key to be delivered.

He got a bit mardy, and after the few vinos, so did I.
He then told me I was being one of those pathetic women..so I laughed and said that it was a shock that a man who can't get to work because of his own stupidly thinks I'm the pathetic one.
The car is still there.

Incredible 😂
I’m just mainly sad for your neighbour who wasn’t able to witness this first hand 🤣

toomuchfaff · 24/02/2025 15:50

hahaha omg I'm so happy at your update. I love the playing dumb about the van! The mate has gone on holiday.. there's your issue fella!

Noshowlomo · 24/02/2025 15:51

I love everything about your update 🤌🏼

I love how he chooses to take out his anger at a blameless woman instead of the male colleague who's caused the problem. 🙄

CanOfMangoTango · 24/02/2025 16:00

Beautiful 😍

chefs kiss 🤌

I'm only sorry your nice neighbour wasn't there to witness it

ValerieDoonican · 24/02/2025 16:06

Oh DEAR 😅

whatonearthisgoingonnow · 24/02/2025 16:18

It's a shame we don't know where you live so you could agree to move it just as one of us arrives to park inconveniently in the way in a different spot. We could take it in turns, Mr Bean style.

Can the owner of the garage the colleague has parked in front of get the colleague's van towed? That might help too ;)

LittleGreenDragons · 24/02/2025 16:18

Bloody hell... he's doubling down isn't he?! The fool 😂

OP for president! 🙌

frazzledbutcalm · 24/02/2025 16:22

I definitely would not be moving your car at all this week 😆😆 Even if I had to get a taxi or walk, I’d do that 😉
I went through hell for over a year due to a parking issue that was actually not a parking issue. Men can be wankers at times.

LittleRedYarny · 24/02/2025 16:27

You beauty OP! That was quality!

allthemiddlechildrenoftheworld · 24/02/2025 16:51

@Notsomarryfloppins keep a glass with wine in it at the door and have it in your hand everytime you answer the door for the rest of the week! really piss him off!

PeanutsForever · 24/02/2025 17:03

I probably would have agreed to move it (yesterday - not, obviously, whiel you were away), but while pointing out that you're helping im because his mate has parked so badly.

People are such fuckwits (not you - him!). I had a neighbour park over my driveway. I asked him t move. He told me there was plenty of space fo rme to get out. I told him that it was my driveway and he was blocking it. He calle me a stupid cow who couldn't drive.

The problem for him is that he cant see the block from his house, so I can leave and come back and he wont know. I want to just turn the car and put it back, just to wind him up
