I'd love a utility room. It would be great to have my Lakeland heated airer hidden away from view.

I'd also love a bidet. My bathroom, alas, simply isn't big enough. I'm British, but it does surprise me a bit that they've never really taken off in this country. I'd love to have a freshen up down below, just whenever.

Anyway, what about you?

A hall wide enough for a coat cupboard.

Ooh yeah! I'd like a big sliding door cupboard (maybe mirrored?) to shove a load of shit behind put our outdoor things in the length of my hallway

More garden

Change my dining room to a kitchen with a living area leading onto wraparound patio doors iyswim

Dressing room with storage

Library

Study/personal room for me

Downstairs loo

Ooh and, controversial, but a hot tub (that wouldn't overlooked) and a little outdoor shower space for after

freespirit333 · 21/02/2025 19:42

A laundry room (a posh utility!) and a bigger garden.

Throughthebluebells · 21/02/2025 19:43

If we are dreaming then top of my list would be a lovely warm indoor pool (with a jet so I can keep swimming for as long as I want without turning), a cosy library/study for all my books, etc. and a boot room for taking off boots and coats so I stop bringing the mud into the house.

JBJ · 21/02/2025 19:44

More storage! Turned my under stairs cupboard into a toilet a few years back, so lost that bit of storage, and the loft, although boarded out with windows and power etc, is currently accessed via a pull down ladder which I just can't managed (disabled). So a huge, insulated shed/summerhouse or garage (or proper stairs up to the loft) to put my camping stuff and other crap in would be amazing, but also too many £££ at the minute.

A downstairs wet room as I sometimes have several days of not being able to manage the stairs. I've had a handheld bidet spray fitted to the downstairs loo, but an actual shower would really help.

WhatTheFuckIsThisNow · 21/02/2025 19:47

A garden.

A shower.

Shetlands · 21/02/2025 19:56

A boot room with a dog-washing sink and a large table for flower arranging.

An art studio.

An indoor pool & mini gym.

Staff quarters - maybe a couple of cottages in the grounds.

A Hermes blanket. I have nothing Hermes or remotely designer and it's a terrible idea as would get ruined and it's insanely overpriced and I can't afford it. But I want one so badly 😂

In terms of extending, I would like a gift wrapping room 😂 (never going to happen) ~ more realistically I want a nicer shed with decent storage.

I would like a gift wrapping room.

I seem to remember reading in the 1990s that Aaron Spelling had one of these, back when Tori Spelling was famous. At the time it was considered the height of decadence and so on that basis alone I agree!

Retirementsoon · 21/02/2025 19:58

A swimming lake.

InvisibilityCloakActivated · 21/02/2025 19:59

Dishwasher
Tumble dryer
Downstairs loo
Wooden floors
Underfloor heating
New windows

A swimming lake.

Lovely - makes me think of Colin Firth in a wet shirt!

Wisheverydaywasfriday · 21/02/2025 20:01

A walk in pantry, with glass jars and wicker baskets all neatly arranged.

IButtleSir · 21/02/2025 20:02

A library.

Thank you for the alternative bidet suggestions, to those who've posted about them.
Please could you advise if they require plumbing in.

The kind we have connect to the sink water source, so do need to be plumbed into that (just had a look at ours, looks pretty much like connected up a washing machine). Connecting to the sink water is especially good if you have a mixer tap as then you can get the water temperature just right - no cold spray to the bum!

Purplebunnie · 21/02/2025 20:04

A craft room, a bigger utility room, I trip over the cats beds and as the washing machine door doesn't open flat it's all a bit tight also a couple of acres. Also maybe not a bidet but that shower attachment thing that you use to clean your nether regions. Not sure what it's called but I'd like one

watersoul · 21/02/2025 20:04

A chef.

Sinkintotheswamp · 21/02/2025 20:05

Driveway and garage
Ensuite
Cosy small TV room for DD's sensory needs.
South facing garden

Basically, a whole new house.

SquashedSquid · 21/02/2025 20:09

I'd give anything for a wheelchair accessible kitchen. I can get in there, but I can't reach the surfaces, sink or cupboards. I miss baking SO much. I'd also love room for a dining table.

If we're talking really extravagant, a good sized shed in the garden that's also accessible, so I can expand my small business.

LillyPJ · 21/02/2025 20:11

A conservatory full of tropical plants, an art studio/music room, a boot room with a big sink and a view of mountains and meadows.

lifeonmars100 · 21/02/2025 20:12

Double glazing and a new damp proof course. I am a boomer and therefore sitting Smaug like on vast wealth but still cannot afford what many MNs would consider essentials. My damp proof course is old and damp is wrecking the lower walls downstairs in my home and there is nothing I can do about it.

NewNeolithic · 21/02/2025 20:12

A hexagonal turret.

Bottom floor: gym
Middle foor: sauna
Top floor: art studio

lifeonmars100 · 21/02/2025 20:19

can we get rid of things too? if so I want my horrible neighbours to vanish overnight and the decaying mess that is their house to be sold at a cheap rate to a young family who would look after it

thequeenoftarts · 21/02/2025 20:20

A hot tub, a proper walk in fancy shower set up with seats etc, not the step into the bath one I have. A pool, a catio, a holiday home overseas anywhere warm with a hot waiter to serve me anything my heart desires. May as well dream here as in bed lol

YourHappyJadeEagle · 21/02/2025 20:20

A garden room. With a log burner for winter and lots of glass for the summer. And a greenhouse twice the size of the one I have.
