I remember Anthea Turner punting flakes at her wedding. Carol Vorderman was always quick to front a financial product. Just seen Carole Malone on my timeline oiling on about weight loss jabs.

Any others spring to mind?

I remember an interviewer ages ago questioning Louise Redknapp on something she had done-can't remember what. She smiled, shrugged and said "Smile and bank it!"
I admire that attitude-many well known people only have a very short time in the public eye.

But I think many of the people on here aren't grifters. They are criminals and exploiters. Calling Paula Vennells a "grifter" is to utterly minimise her behaviour, for example.

Probably Meghan Markle, considering how much she seemingly conned the RF and public. Honestly, a £32 million wedding for a twice divorced actress! Personally I didn't have a good feeling about her from the start, and have since been validated.

She's not twice divorced!

chambawamba · 12/03/2025 07:03

Boris Johnson and Prince Andrew!

Both vile!

deeahgwitch · 12/03/2025 08:42

"She's not twice divorced."
Some say there was a marriage annulled before she married Trevor Engelson in 2011 @chambawamba

If it’s true it’s still just once divorced

deeahgwitch · 12/03/2025 08:44

True @JandamiHash

Meghan Markle. Hands down.

CurlewKate · 12/03/2025 09:42

If Meghan Markle is a grifter for having an expensive royal wedding, then surely so are Diana Spencer, Sarah Fergusson, Catherine Middleton, Sophie Whatever her name was, Mark Phillips, Tim Whatever his name is...

If I was going to call any members of the RF grifters it would be Zara Phillips and her husband. Still both doing very well out of connections and long ago sporting achievements.

I love royal weddings. I'm happy to give my fiver a year, or whatever it is, to fund a fantastic spectacle of music and pageantry like these.

I think Meghan is fairly criticised because she was a very demanding bridezilla (pushed for more/better things than she was generously offered) and because she notoriously rubbished the whole thing to a global audience, implying that it was just a meaningless spectacle for the peasantry. Silly cow! What a PR own-goal.

I did enjoy Meghan's wedding until I learned more about her...

Don Trumpleone and his whole family for stealing a whole country from right ùnder the noses of a population shouting "More, give us more". Quite an achievement.

Meghan Markle. Hands down.

Not this tedious old chestnut again. The media campaign against this woman is like nothing I've witnessed in my lifetime. You can be Putin, Trump, Lucy Letby or Ian Brady and receive less of a relentless, years-long media excoriation than Markle has.

And for what? She is small fry. Of no consequence. The barage against her is disproportionate to anything she's apparently done: and face it, idle gossip about someone else's private family squabbles is very much 'small stuff'. Who gives a rat's arse? 💤

The insidious 'Good Law' project that loses every case, but is funded generously by donations through riding on the back of a prevailing social wind, and the Chartered Psychologist who takes horrendous liberties with confidential client data, spreads dangerous misinformation under the mantle of 'expertise' and conveniently avoids the rigour of peer-reviewers (and circumvents strict ethics processes) by professing to publish 'open access' (which you can still do via a peer-reviewed process, incidentally) - now that's grifting.

Dangerous grifting involving vulnerable participants, at that.

CurlewKate · 12/03/2025 10:33

@CoffeeCantata I love a royal wedding too-they make me feel at least I'm getting my money's worth for once m-although I'd be happy never to see another one if the zrF were abolished.

No comment on the other royal grifters I mentioned?

The question was about the biggest grifter I’ve seen. She’s it.

Smiling here at the suggestion of Captain Tom himself. He was never in the Regular Army, being conscripted in 194 becoming an officer, which did happen, and receiving what they called battlefield promotions.
i do not believe he had the right to keep his rank for the next

She's a popular TV presenter. What are you for?

You do know this doesn't make you look clever, don't you?
