I remember Anthea Turner punting flakes at her wedding. Carol Vorderman was always quick to front a financial product. Just seen Carole Malone on my timeline oiling on about weight loss jabs.

Any others spring to mind?

Brooklyn Beckham
Meghan Markle
Prince Harry
Callum Best - showing my age there

lucindalucinsa · 21/02/2025 18:30

And Captain Tom and his unbearable daughter.

Buffs · 21/02/2025 18:32

Prince Andrew living in his mansion, driving luxury cars and riding his thoroughbred horses. Oh and don’t even get me started on Harry and Meghan.

Areolaborealis · 21/02/2025 07:10

Jamie Oliver! After all the fuss he made about processed food he starts peddling his own ready meals.

Hard agree. I once paid £18 for 5 pieces of ravioli at one of his restaurants

JandamiHash · 21/02/2025 18:34

SchoolDilemma17 · 21/02/2025 08:21

And his Italian restaurant was massively overpriced with tiny portions.

And bland in taste

The man's face is on virtually every product in B&M. He seems to stand by a LOT of products for a quick buck. From protein powder to pasta shapes to cat food..He apparently stands by it all!

The question is: who is the biggest grifter I've ever seen.

Mo Farrah is my answer. Therefore it isn't wrong.

Edited

Sorry but you're wrong. Mo Farah worked extraordinarily hard all his life to get where he has, that's the whole point. You wouldn't know who he was otherwise.

Captain Tom's daughter on the other hand.....

Surely you can see the difference between the two even if he annoys you for advertising cat food? Athletes careers are notoriously short so they need to go on and earn money in other ways.

Judi Dench cashing in on her Moneypenny role in the Bond films.

Those adverts damn near make my toes snap off in sheer embarrassment.

I always felt a bit sorry for her over this. She sold her wedding photo rights to one of the glossy mags. They took one pic of her and the groom taking a bite of a new style of flake and then the magazine gave one away for free that month.

I’ve seen alot worse but she’s never escaped it

feel the need to add im not a fan of hers but this always felt a bit mean

Edited

I didn’t get it either. Every half wit who poses for Hello magazine for their wedding is doing exactly the same thing

Also those Snow Flake bars were extremely tasty and should never have been discounted

JandamiHash · 21/02/2025 18:41

Adamante · 21/02/2025 13:25

This properly made me laugh 😆

Something I could never have admitted I thought, even to myself, until I saw your post.

A few of us cast doubt on MN at the time and were called every name under the sun. I have no idea why people infantilise old people especially old men

anon666 · 21/02/2025 18:42

Too many for words. Donald Trump. Nigel Farage. Boris Johnson. Andrew tate. Russell Brand. That anti-vaxxer guy - Wakefield.

They are all working various forms of scam, based on sone kind of 'attack is the best form of defence' denial of crimes.

Fizbosshoes · 21/02/2025 18:43

Captain Tom's "duet" with Michael.Ball was absolute toot. He's basically just talking rather than singing.
Just promote the charity, there's no need to add extra gimmicks- although maybe it was Michael Balls awful idea....?

Yes exactly. Taking up sponsorship is not grifting! And I admire people more who are sponsors of affordable goods than billionaires who tout £300 t shirts

I hadn’t heard of this, and just searched for it on my music app. I lasted 5 seconds before my ears were begging me to turn it off

Catcooper25uk · 21/02/2025 18:47

"Just us hardys" on tik tok pair of them scamming ppl for money dragging their sick daughter out for gifts and money when he doesn't even have custody of her anymore she is now living with her mum and grandmother who don't put her on any social media because she can't consent. Darren hardy and his missus who is not the biological mum begging on tik tok lives when they've used the people's money for diamond rings loads of expensive abroad holidays none of it has gone on that poor little girl the pair of them make me sick especially as my daughter has the same condition and I wouldn't dream of exploiting her like that.

I don't really think I can beat Captain Tom's daughter and I'm not quite sure if this character is a grifter exactly in the correct sense of the term but he's certainly very slippery. More slippery than a bar of slippy soap on an ice rink type slippery.

Russell Brand.

He's a born again Christian now, y'know.

Does he think no one else knows that Christian’s especially those in formal church positions, also rape and abuse?

MayaKovskaya · 20/02/2025 20:43

Ah. The son? What does he do? I have to admit I'm not really aware of him.

She means Mike , Zaras husband I assume with the reference to his podcast. Again someone not understanding what a grifter is. Trading on royal connections perhaps, and he is mentioning his mum in law surely, not his fault she is Princess Anne!

ImWearingPantaloons · 21/02/2025 18:49

Is the Jessica Taylor mentioned the one with the PhD who bangs on about trauma etc??

My two pence worth is Taylor Winterstein and her 'retreats' / MLM shampoo

Yes, he seems like a decent sort. As you say, not a "grifter".

How is him advertising stuff a con? that's a grifter. You can say I don't like that he sells anything and everything but the brands wouldn't hire him if it didn't sell the stuff. Being paid to do a job that exists is not a grift.

Homework for all on this thread, watch Hustle, sure it must be on BBC iPlayer.

That mate of Johnson who accepted a contract for £2m to source PPE for covid. He didn't even supply it. His newly formed 'company' based at his 3 bed terrace simply googled Chinese PPE manufacturers and passed the contact info on, even though their product was entirely unsuitable.

Never paid it back either once exposed.

They're all absolute and total amateurs compared to the Royals.
