To ask who is the biggest grifter you've seen?

I remember Anthea Turner punting flakes at her wedding. Carol Vorderman was always quick to front a financial product. Just seen Carole Malone on my timeline oiling on about weight loss jabs.

Any others spring to mind?

He is not a grifter. You don't win repeated gold medals by grifting. He was also a trafficked child and a slave. He pulled himself out of a hideous childhood, worked his arse off to achieve what he did.

Exactly! Anyway, someone who has won those medals at the Olympics can get all the deals they want, in my book. And surely it is sensible for him to look at other ways of earning money now his former sporting career is over.

What does punting flakes mean? Genuinely no idea

PerfectforStealth · 21/02/2025 10:49

Liz Truss. I saw her in London recently, getting out of her police protection Range Rover. With another Range Rover right behind. All paid for by us as the tax payer. For someone who was PM for 50 days. We will pay for this for the rest of her life.

Dotjones · 21/02/2025 10:52

Toss up between Hannah Ingram-Moore and those scumbags who used their charity sausage roll Xmas singles to sell their tat.

Rachel Reeves is quickly working her way towards trumping both of them to be fair.

I agree. It's people like this who are the real scroungers.

Anthea Turner used her wedding as a Cadbury's Flake promotion.

You may not like her politics or her policy decisions. It does not make her "a grifter".

Knew that all former PMs get £115k p.a. for life but was not aware that they got a lifetime of security too.

We've had two MPs killed by nutters in the last decade or so; I don't want to see another. So many expressing hate for Truss simply encourages and emboldens the nutter to come forward.

Stopped following them all due to their daily 'brand deals' and promo of freebies including a new kitchen, holidays fashion, skin care, random high end stuff etc

We share the same list

I agree. They have to have protection, and that's the deal.

Not a fan of Meghan but why shouldn’t she be allowed an expensive wedding (which literally all the royal brides have had) because she’s been divorced? Is that because you believe she’s damaged goods and should get something lesser?

I am also definitely not a Meghan fan but I agree on this. Royal weddings are a key selling point for the RF and for British image, tourism and culture abroad.

Billions watched the wedding and the beautiful images of Windsor Castle and Windsor in the sun. It’s basically advertising for the Uk. One ad in the super bowl costs $40M so this was a relatively cheap marketing opportunity.

I always felt a bit sorry for her over this. She sold her wedding photo rights to one of the glossy mags. They took one pic of her and the groom taking a bite of a new style of flake and then the magazine gave one away for free that month.

I’ve seen alot worse but she’s never escaped it

feel the need to add im not a fan of hers but this always felt a bit mean

Edited

yeah it was mean. It was the magazine that did it and they knew how it would look and so many celebs sell their wedding to OK. I think it was because the public disliked her anyway because she’d had an affair with a married man.

Spot on. Lots of haters of the RF but the whole world has heard of them, few know who even the head of state of Ireland or Germany is. RF are low cost publicity for the UK and Meghan's wedding was a part of that.

MayaKovskaya · 21/02/2025 12:57

I think Meghan and Harry had a lovely wedding, I really enjoyed it. The chapel looked gorgeous and she looked beautiful. I loved the music (well done Charles), and the carriage ride. Yes, it cost ££millions, but it was great for the UK.
What I didn't like was Meghan saying later to Oprah that the big show was just for "the masses" and they really got married 3 days earlier in their "back yard" ( sic).
If they didn't want that kind of wedding ,they should just have had a quiet, small do.
