I remember Anthea Turner punting flakes at her wedding. Carol Vorderman was always quick to front a financial product. Just seen Carole Malone on my timeline oiling on about weight loss jabs.

Any others spring to mind?

grifters film

Heather Mills - shameless woman
Bianca Jagger - who actually said on marriage to Mick, “I’m going to be famous
without doing anything”
Meghan Markle
Royal Family, especially the superfluous Wales’s, saintly simpering Catherine, infamous Andrew and his lumpen daughters
Sarah Ferguson! she could give masterclasses in the art!
Captain Tom‘s daughter and by association, son in law
Jack Monroe, truculent, tiresome charlatan
James Middleton - no visible means of support but lives very well

NZversusLondon · 21/02/2025 09:10

Oh and the hideous Knee Deep In life on Instagram - made one funny story albeit copying someone else and now grifts shamelessly with unfunny puerile gags. Revolting

@Viviennemary The blogs about her yachting days certainly made for interesting reading, before Google wiped them all.

You're just making stuff up now.

She was married once before.
She has two children. No, she did not have one before Harry. No, she never had a hysterectomy. Yes, Archie and Lily are real and belong to her.

He is not a grifter. You don't win repeated gold medals by grifting. He was also a trafficked child and a slave. He pulled himself out of a hideous childhood, worked his arse off to achieve what he did.

I would agree. If you don't like him, fine, but he's certainly no grifter!

whatonearthisgoingonnow · 20/02/2025 17:38

I think Boris Johnson is actually incredibly smart. I don't like him, and he's certainly the master of free handouts, but he certainly isn't a man of little intelligence.

Edited

He can't be that smart, given that he couldn't keep his party loyal for even one term in office.

Convolvulus · 21/02/2025 09:17

Nadine Dorries.

There’s loads on instagram. That mamas still got it woman, Vicki pattinson sponsored by Greggs…

Yes was going to say Vicki Pattison who had her actual registry office wedding and after party sponsored by Greggs.

I like her but I was looking at the whole spectacle thinking, this is your wedding for goodness sake, why not keep it private and personal and not cheapen it with Greggs sausage rolls?

MichaelandKirk · 21/02/2025 09:20

Not sure I agree with Trump. At least he has run large companies unlike the Labour Cabinet. Yes to Markle. A complete disgrace and I dont know why anyone gives her the time of day!

And yes of course to Cpt Tom's daughter. I remember her at Wimbledon waving and smiling and thought there is something not quite right here. I honestly think having watched her Piers Morgan interview with her slimy husband that she doesnt really think she has done anything wrong. I thought that Morgan did very well with her as he clearly had a soft spot for her Dad.

@Icanttakethisanymore More justified in being spent on a couple with a long term commitment to each other, rather than a twice divorced con artist, with questionable yachting connections to Jeffrey Epstein and Prince Andrew, who was also residing with another boyfriend at the time she ensnared a gullible prince? Yes.

She was divorced once because she was married once. There is ZERO proof of yachting, it was made up by pathetic people online.

Stop believing everything you read on Facebook or crappy sites.

80smonster · 21/02/2025 09:44

Harry and Meghan are the ultimate grifters.
Their grifting life began over a row about security for half of this grifting duo. Spotify has named them grifters, staff have accused them of bullying, let’s see what Netflix has to say about them. I’m waiting with baited breath to see what they pull out of their arses.

BustingBaoBun · 21/02/2025 09:44

Convolvulus · 21/02/2025 09:17

Nadine Dorries.

God yes, she went off into the jungle leaving her constituents high and dry then said she would resign immediately but hung on for her salary for months. Total grifter who got her daughters in on the act paying them as secretaries. She's as thick as mince too... whilst Secretary of State for Culture she said on TV that Channel 4 needs defunding from public money, stupid woman.

One of my DCs as a joke gave me a book she wrote at Christmas (part of our joke present ritual !) so she writes twaddle too.

Tony Hudgell’s parents. There’s something really not right there. Let the poor boy have some autonomy FFS and stop rolling him out as part of your PR campaign. They have no right to take his anonymity away from him after all he’s been through.

these awful people. poor lad being exploited.

DancingFerret · 21/02/2025 09:46

ElsaLion · 20/02/2025 17:29

Probably Meghan Markle, considering how much she seemingly conned the RF and public. Honestly, a £32 million wedding for a twice divorced actress! Personally I didn't have a good feeling about her from the start, and have since been validated.

I knew she was bad news from the moment I read her comment - "I feel like the luckiest girl alive", (girl?!😳🙄) before Harry officially acknowledged the relationship and she was heavily hinting about it at every opportunity.

Finallydoingit24 · 21/02/2025 09:48

Social media is full of grifters. At least Carole Malone has a career as a journalist spanning decades, plus she has taken the weight loss drugs and benefited from them. Why shouldn’t she advertise them? What about Holly and Davina trying to convince us that they use shitty garnier box dye on their hair?

ThatSchoolOfficeLady · 21/02/2025 09:53

Greediest and most high stakes, Trump and Musk.

Lovethegreydays · 21/02/2025 10:03

SirRaymondClench · 21/02/2025 06:52

Sir Mo Farrah. That man will sell his name to promote literally anything.

You're totally wrong there, Mo Farah is the absolute definition of a grafter not a grifter!

Maybe I don’t know the full background but they adopted an abused baby, are raisinf a disabled child with lots of special needs and are raising money for charity plus advocating for law change. What’s so awful about them?

My point is the term originated in the US, and has not been in common vernacular in the UK which is evidenced by the amount of people mis-understanding it on this thread.

We would use the term hustler, swindler or con-artists as evidenced by the UK programme "Hustlers"

I have hheard the term grifter before and each time it was used by a British person. Maybe it's you who are not that clued up.

I very much doubt the Royal Family would have been happy with anything less than a £32M wedding.

She's been divorced once.

Finallydoingit24 · 21/02/2025 10:34

Not a fan of Meghan but why shouldn’t she be allowed an expensive wedding (which literally all the royal brides have had) because she’s been divorced? Is that because you believe she’s damaged goods and should get something lesser?

Discombobble · 21/02/2025 10:36

WOW! What a bitchfest! Apparently grifter = someone who has more than you and doesn’t deserve it/Daily Mail does not approve of

Queratin · 21/02/2025 10:37

Karen Matthews, Shannon’s mum.

wholettheturnipsburn · 21/02/2025 10:40

Farage is the personification of grift. It's embarrassing how many people he has conned.
