Delivery man using toilet

I admit I am a bit of a clean freak at best of times. Can’t bear people wearing shoes inside etc. But really don’t like workmen, etc using my bathroom.

A delivery driver arrived earlier with some kitchen appliances, just delivering, not installing. He asked to use the bathroom and I immediately wanted to say no, as I HATE strangers in my bathroom. But didn’t feel I could refuse.

So he was in bathroom for a minute or so and went on his way. I went in to clean the toilet as I always would, and not only had he used it, but he left a big black pubic hair on the toilet seat 🤮🤮 Absolutely revolting.

Have spent 5 minutes deep cleaning and disinfecting toilet and have put the hand towel in wash because I’m so disgusted.

AIBU to refuse access to my bathroom in future? Or am I over-reacting?

i will have builders in for 2 weeks shortly and obviously they will want to use the bathroom, which I’m not delighted about but can’t be helped. Means I’ll have to clean the toilet every day, but I can’t refuse them using it.

But random delivery men - would you refuse? And what would you say?

'Whenever I see someone browbeating women in this way to prioritise men's comfort over their own and ignore their instincts, I ask myself precisely what they stand to gain.'

Yes it is staggering that the op has been mocked throughout. Why are some women so keen to laugh at other's boundaries and also have no awareness regarding risk. Even in this day and age.

Her ‘instincts’ are only mentioned once she’s been told it’s unreasonable to be so upset by a hair. They aren’t mentioned in the OP.

cardibach · 20/02/2025 18:35

Yes. It said she wants to vomit about a hair and has to deep clean her bathroom because of it. There is nothing in it about whether he should have been in the house.

You're very determined to brow-beat OP into thinking she's neurotic and at fault here, aren't you?

There is more than a one-dimensional issue at stake here, as you'd know if you've read all her posts and update.

What precisely is your objective here? Do you know how you're coming across?

I’m not browbeating anyone. I giving my opinion on an opinion board.
My opinion is that being so scared of germs you can’t sit on your toilet if a friend has sat on it is a debilitating condition which she should seek help for in order to live a happier life.

I wonder how some of the posters on this thread manage to have sex. All that bodily contact, pubes and messy stuff. It must be hell

The OP's point wasn't about whether she should 'be nice' and let him in. It was about him leaving a pube (quelle horreur).

So what.

Let's allow women to have their own opinions and judgements regarding what they think is acceptable in their own home.

Nor is the pissing on the seat!

It got worse as the post went on….

Yes, I've seen you on these threads before. Always the ones telling women to be kind and that they must pander to men, I note.

What with the delivery man? Blimey Grin. I'd say no to that too.

What's this then?

Not obligatory lol

She still hasn’t said he did that. It’s just in a hypothetical which includes other possibilities. In reality she found a hair after he’d been there. That’s all. Might not even be a pube. Or his.

ArtTheClown · 20/02/2025 18:40

No, you can't refuse. He's doing his job and people are entitled to use the loo while at work.

This is mad. This is a random delivery driver who had already basically forced his way into the OPs home when she was expecting a doorstep delivery.

No, no delivery driver has the right to use my toilet and I wouldn't let anyone making a delivery cross my threshold, they'd have to actually shove me out of the way.
I really don't care how they deal with their toileting issues, it is not my problem to solve.

"Can't refuse" 😂Fuck me, MN really does deliver.

OwlInTheOak · 20/02/2025 18:40

In future just say sorry my partners in the shower/bath. They don't know whether you have multiple toilets or not.

SerafinasGoose · 20/02/2025 18:41

Dotto · 20/02/2025 18:40

What's this then?

It's one massive case of cognitive dissonance, is what is is.

cardibach · 20/02/2025 18:42

Dotto · 20/02/2025 18:40

What's this then?

It’s asking whether a delivery person should be allowed to use the loo. As I said. It mentions ‘kitchen appliances’ which suggests eg a washing machine which would mean the delivery person/people would have to come in. It’s much, much later she says it was small boxes.

ArtTheClown · 20/02/2025 18:42

@Fountofwisdom in future just plant yourself very squarly in the doorway when you get deliveries, so that no-one can just waltz in like that.

I'd hate it. We're strictly shoes-off and I'd find it beyond rude on that front, as well as quite threatening, and that's before the manky bastard used my toilet facilities.

Janiie · 20/02/2025 18:42

Staggering isn't it.

Altogether now 'just say no!'. Go piss elsewhere Mr Strange Man on my doorstep trying to get into my home.

Salad666 · 20/02/2025 18:43

I HATE people using my bathroom. I also feel like I can't say no, I also clean after they're gone. Did you do your door handle? Because I often don't hear hand washing plus I don't trust people to wash hands adequately.

And no, I don't use public toilets if I can help it. I hold it until I am at home, don't even use my parents toilet.

So how do you feel about friends and family, visiting by invitation, using your loo? Cos OP can’t then use it herself until it’s disinfected.

Glitchymn1 · 20/02/2025 18:44

Sorry someone is in there. Sorry flush is on the blink awaiting plumber.

Ain’t nobody using my toilet! 😂

This thread's loopier than most, and in this day and age that's saying something. It's pottier than the 'answer the door or don't answer the door in your own home' threads, and they currently hold gold batshittery standard amid very stiff competition.

Sad to see that new depths have been plumbed (pun not intended) and the MN bar is now at the bottom of the Mariana Trench.

LillyPJ · 20/02/2025 18:45

Imagine having their job! They don't have access to a toilet. And I'm sure he didn't deliberately leave a hair behind. Be nice and have empathy for others.

I guessing they’re not having sex with a random delivery man. Most of us know the person we’re having sex with.

Her boundaries, stop judging her. We are all different and that is fine.

However, not wanting strange men using your loo is certainly a good thing imo.

Women are allowed their boundaries and we are allowed to say no to pushy men who can't plan their loo breaks effectively. They aren't 5yrs old.
