To ask my pharmacist to use my actual title on my medicine

decided to edit this a bit for clarity - I'm a Ms, my pharmacist keeps writing Miss on the labels (as part of a wider pattern of annoying behaviour). Will I look mad if I say please call me Ms on my labels?

(The prescriptions all say Ms)

It sort of is - the premise of this section of the forum is whether the OP is being unreasonable and literally invites others' opinions!

And yet no one who said OP is being unreasonable has given their full opinion - stated it's pretentious or not the place to correct a title etc but not said said why

I can read date and time stamps.

You’re wrong.

As a fellow Ms I'd suggest you get a grip. It's a simple error, not a deliberate insult. Do you have any idea the amount of pressure pharmacy staff work under?

Eh? When did the OP claim that it was a deliberate insult?! Yes, it's a 'simple
error'... so why shouldn't a simple polite correction suffice? Honestly, I despair at some of these aggressive responses!

What pressure are they under that correcting an error they have made such a big deal?

I cannot imagine becoming so worked up over someone using the wrong title for me.
The attitude towards your prescription is a bit of an issue because they are not you or the Dr who prescribed it and so should provide without their negative opinions. Have an issue with that (maybe) but the title.... My mind is boggling. Just mention that it's wrong and can we kindly get it updated so it's correct? No need for a song and dance 🤗

I was too late to vote but I would have said she was being unreasonable and have posted a response to the op.
But now I'm thinking maybe she wasn't because it's something that means a lot to her.... Just because it doesn't meant that much to me.... Is that good enough reason to say she is BU.

I wouldn't get worked up over it though.

Dont you just love neurodiverse brains in the morning??

I'm confused... isn't this EXACTLY what the OP was asking if she should do? How is what you've suggested getting 'worked up'?

couldabutdidnt · 27/02/2025 05:22

I find ‘worked up’ a bit dismissive as a term. I’d definitely get ‘worked up’ over something like this. Not because I’m precious about my title but because I think women should be equal to men in all areas. I think the rule should be: would a man get ‘worked up’ over this? If a man would prefer not to be defined in terms of their marital status, then we’d find that understandable.

That said, I wouldn’t assume anything about the pharmacist. What’s that quote about assuming incompetence before malevolence. And it’s probably not even incompetence. Many people just haven’t given marital titles much thought.
