To ask how to best handle this car blocking my drive?

Parkingdrama00 · 16/02/2025 14:07

I live near to a football stadium and the team are currently playing. Somebody has parked right across my drive and blocked me in. I assume they have gone the match.

You need a residents pass to park round here and it doesn't look like they have one. Looks like I'm trapped until they come back.

What's best to do? Can I report them to the council? Leave a note? Confront them upon their return. Or is all of that pointless?

I wanted to go to the supermarket which will likely be closed by the time they're back.

Sailawaygirl · 16/02/2025 15:58

Maybe the tow truck iscround the corner and timing it perfectly

skyana · 16/02/2025 15:59

Hate when ppl do this, surely they could've found another road with actual parking

Whatthebarnacles · 16/02/2025 15:59

Come on - update us! This was as tense as the game itself hahaha

bloodredfeaturewall · 16/02/2025 16:00

hope it's solved by now, but when we lived close to a stadium parking control was part of the license agreement with the football club.

they were patrolling the nearby streets before and after the game and easy to be flagged down at the local cafe if neighbours had issues.

LaBarruci · 16/02/2025 16:00

There's still at least 15 minutes of grace, since presuming the driver hasn't left early, they have to make their way out of their seat row past the throng, get themselves out of the stadium and then along to the car.

TENSsion · 16/02/2025 16:00

Just caught up and am now embarrassingly invested. I hope there’s an update soon.

I'm just thinking if you got back to the empty space where your car was, how would you know it had been towed as oppposed to nicked or forgotten where you parked 🤔

Because you call the police to say my car has been stolen and they ask for the registration then tell you it has been impounded.

Mischance · 16/02/2025 16:01

Might not be at the match of course.

CookiePookie · 16/02/2025 16:02

OP, if you go straight out shopping we will forgive you, but aghhhhhh the suspense!

murasaki · 16/02/2025 16:02

When I last went to Anfield, albeit 20 years ago, we found a legit parking space about 20 mins walk away. In stereotype manner, which made us laugh, some kids offered to look after it for a tenner. We declined, and it was fine when we got back to it. And the pub we stopped in was lovely and gave us free sandwiches as we'd come a long way. We never would have parked over someone's dropped kerb.

Parkingdrama00 · 16/02/2025 16:03

Oh sweet Jesus there's a tow truck coming round the corner. Let me go out and then I'll update

Yaaas come on!

AngelicKaty · 16/02/2025 16:04

When DH and I were first married we lived near Pompey's ground and had to time our shopping trips when they were playing at home. If we timed it wrong, we'd have to pop into my sister's for a cuppa while waiting for the match to end and our road to clear. However, we didn't have drives (rows of Victorian terraces) so this is another level of CF. I'm hoping that just as the driver is strolling down the road they see the tow truck drive past with their car on the back. Well done OP, if this comes off you've achieved the ultimate revenge! 😂

Get a neighbour to block them right in so they can't leave without knocking on your door then give them a piece of your mind.

Was a quid when I first went. God I feel old.

Hopefully it's been removed and OP has been able to get on with what they were meant to be doing

Hate selfish idiots, there's just no need for it.

ExitPursuedByABare · 16/02/2025 16:05

I once blocked someone in who had parked in my private works parking space, fully anticipating that they would come to find me to ask to be let out. I was outraged when I returned to the car park to find they had bounced my car out of the way.

duckydoo234 · 16/02/2025 16:05

God, at what point is it "towed", meaning if it's half way onto the truck and the driver returns, what happens then?

Sunnydiary · 16/02/2025 16:06
