To ask how to best handle this car blocking my drive?

I live near to a football stadium and the team are currently playing. Somebody has parked right across my drive and blocked me in. I assume they have gone the match.

You need a residents pass to park round here and it doesn't look like they have one. Looks like I'm trapped until they come back.

What's best to do? Can I report them to the council? Leave a note? Confront them upon their return. Or is all of that pointless?

I wanted to go to the supermarket which will likely be closed by the time they're back.

Really hope it gets towed.

Someone who so blatantly parks across someone's drive isnt going to care about notes, or even confrontation when they get back to their car...they need to be inconvenienced themselves.

Assuming it's a Wolves fan, he'll be having a bad day anyway, so go for it!

Signed, a fan of another Midlands team.

Aye, he might be leaving early. 😆

How about the old Banana I The Tailpipe? Before the tow truck comes... Then when they trail to the depot it won't start!!
Dd's car broke down in an unsafe place. Despite having recovery via get insurance the police came and towed it anyway.. Cost dd best part of 400 quid to get it back.
And the depot will probably be shut today for collections!!

Although you’re totally doing the right thing, I’d be a bit nervous about repercussions to you or your property when they get back and find it towed. Will you be on your own when the match finishes?

I will be home alone but I've messaged the street what's app group and all the neighbours are invested now and curtain twitching so if anything happened the whole close would be out haha.

Hmm interesting. It is actually Anfield. Although now I want them to get towed 😂

Oh I was looking forward to hearing the announcement by George Sephton.

It usually goes something like would the owner of the car reg xxxx please move it immediately it's causing an obstruction.

It sends a message to the other fans about parking too but there always some entitled idiot thinks rules don't apply to them.

Seen it at Ewood Park, Ashton Gate and the Memorial Ground.

Our street WhatsApp would LOVE this on a Sunday!

I bloody love a live parking thread. Hopefully all your neighbours will come out and cheer as it gets towed 😁

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 16/02/2025 15:04

Shamelessly marking for updates! Proud of you OP for actually doing something rather than nothing at all apart from hand wringing 😀

Kago2790 · 16/02/2025 15:04

It's a dropped kerb right?

murasaki · 16/02/2025 15:05

It's one of the few parking threads where no one has demanded a diagram, as it's blindingly obvious who is in the wrong!

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 16/02/2025 15:06

Ooo I love a live parking thread! Please keep us updated OP

I've known of tow trucks so try that 111 and say to police you've heard of towing

Don't think an out of hours doctor is going to tow the car away.

Kingoftheroad · 16/02/2025 15:07

Put dog shite on their handles

TidyDancer · 16/02/2025 15:07

Ooh I always miss the parking threads when they're live! Well done OP, hope it gets towed!

I am so invested.

BitOutOfPractice · 16/02/2025 15:09

@Parkingdrama00 Id like to apologise on behalf of all Wolves fans if it’s one of ours.

We are getting well beaten anyway so I imagine his day is going to get even worse if he gets towed.

eta I am more interested in this than the match now!

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 16/02/2025 15:10

Love a parking thread especially on a Sunday afternoon when I've got nothing else to do but check in to see if it gets towed before they return

dapsnotplimsolls · 16/02/2025 15:11

Have you contacted the stadium yet?

CaptBirdsEar · 16/02/2025 15:11

Hopefully you'll capture the tow of your ring camera, and subsequent gnashing of teeth when the owner returns to no car.

RitaFromTheRanch · 16/02/2025 15:11

Hurry up with the tow truck! That'll teach them

Oh yes. Set up a camera if not 😁 just for our amusement.
