To ask how to best handle this car blocking my drive?

I live near to a football stadium and the team are currently playing. Somebody has parked right across my drive and blocked me in. I assume they have gone the match.

You need a residents pass to park round here and it doesn't look like they have one. Looks like I'm trapped until they come back.

What's best to do? Can I report them to the council? Leave a note? Confront them upon their return. Or is all of that pointless?

I wanted to go to the supermarket which will likely be closed by the time they're back.

Shamelessly following.

And the stunt the CF has pulled is going to cost them a lot more than £20 - good! 😂

Yup it'll cost hundreds! The tow truck and extra police costs for inpounding it.

They deserve it!

What else do you think "this car is blocking my drive" means?! Confused

It could mean OP was unable to get on to her driveway

It is not illegal to block an empty driveway. It is an important distinction.

Odd how an illegally parked car getting towed is so fascinating to witness.
I was in a restaurant and some nob had parked outside on double yellows, we saw him swagger away with an air of self entitlement.
Unfortunately for him, so did a traffic warden, and soon his prestige car was being lifted up.
The whole restaurant was more interested in watching through the big glass window, than they were in their food.

Very entertaining.

I believe it's called "Schadenfreude". 😂

cgk · 16/02/2025 16:47

Extraordinarily selfish of this person to parks straight across your drive. Well deserved towing.

She said someone had “blocked her in.” She was blocked in. Not out. Quite simple to understand really.

I think when there are big events going on, there is usually a tow truck around for exactly this purpose.

They probably spend the entire afternoon towing cars!!!

Somebody has parked right across my drive and blocked me in

She literally said in the first sentence of her first post "blocked me in"

DisforDarkChocolate · 16/02/2025 16:48

Facebook, with pictures.

Insta and/or X with pictures and tagging the football team.

Slight smearing of something unpleasant on the driver's handle.

A civil enforcement officer will issue a penalty to a vehicle parked over a dropped kerb regardless of whether or not a car is in the drive.

Unsure of the police regulations

My old car had a tracker on it and by now the tracker company would be ringing me to tell me that the car was on the move. You may see a couple of middle aged men jogging up your road soon if it has a tracker.

TinyMouseTheatre · 16/02/2025 16:49

So glad they took it away. They utterly deserved that to happen!

Normally people would have more sympathy, but when someone is getting their just deserts....yep, exactly that.

I was just going for some bits for lunch for work in the week so I'll be fine. Considering opening that bottle of red that's left from Christmas though 😂

I think u deserve a takeaway delivery after all of this!!!

Lougle · 16/02/2025 16:50

Oh dear. I wonder if they were running late and thought they'd take a chance. They're going to find out the hard way that it's better to be late.

ChancesAreLow · 16/02/2025 16:50

Just realised that I'm assuming the driver is male - we don't know, do we?

crumbsonmyface · 16/02/2025 16:50

Turbo4 · 16/02/2025 16:45

I’m pretty sure you can only collect towed vehicles between Monday and Fridays as well. Usually 9am onwards. So no car for them tonight. 😉

I think you're right! Excellent plot twist 😂

Allthenameshavegone1972 · 16/02/2025 16:51

Hooray! I've been overly invested in this & rooting for you. We need to fight back against these cheeky, entitled twats!
