To ask how to best handle this car blocking my drive?

Parkingdrama00 · 16/02/2025 14:07

I live near to a football stadium and the team are currently playing. Somebody has parked right across my drive and blocked me in. I assume they have gone the match.

You need a residents pass to park round here and it doesn't look like they have one. Looks like I'm trapped until they come back.

What's best to do? Can I report them to the council? Leave a note? Confront them upon their return. Or is all of that pointless?

I wanted to go to the supermarket which will likely be closed by the time they're back.

I would go out to show you needed to get your car out. I wouldn't be hanging about at home. Aske neighbours to check on your house and mention ailing mother if asked by cheeky fecker

bittertwisted · 16/02/2025 16:41

Having paid that £20 parking charge at anfield on many occasions, they are so arrogant to try and avoid it, I'm now very invested in this thread 😂😂

I think when there are big events going on, there is usually a tow truck around for exactly this purpose.

I’m in Merseyside and they really are hot on this sort of thing on match days. I’ve seen some ludicrous parking in my time, and a fair amount of towing !!

butterpuffed · 16/02/2025 16:27

Of course OP doesn't mean that . She said in the opening post that she wanted to go to the supermarket . Unless , of course , the supermarket is in her garden and she can't get access to it . 😉

I know the OP doesn't mean that! fgs. The OP's post was clear as day, it wasn't the OP I was replying to but the 'what else does blocking my driveway mean'.

'Blocking the driveway' doesn't clarify the situation, as that commenter intended - because its not the 'blocking' that is significant as far as the police are concerned, its the 'in' part that is!

itsgettingweird · 16/02/2025 16:41

It's threads like these where I live the read OP posts only and I can catch up quick.

Then go back and read the funny and brilliant comments from everyone!

I use to live near Fratton Park so I've been routing for you!

I'd get a group of neighbours to play dumb if anyone does come around. "What do you mean your cars been towed from here? Surely you didn't park over someone's drive to go to the match?"

TequilaNights · 16/02/2025 16:42

One of the most satisfying posts I've read in a long time 😊
Will be keeping en eye for an update now haha

travelforthesoul · 16/02/2025 16:42

I know someone who has a tow truck company and for large events they are tasked to be on standby for situations like this. CF's everywhere!

NovemberMorn · 16/02/2025 16:42

Odd how an illegally parked car getting towed is so fascinating to witness.
I was in a restaurant and some nob had parked outside on double yellows, we saw him swagger away with an air of self entitlement.
Unfortunately for him, so did a traffic warden, and soon his prestige car was being lifted up.
The whole restaurant was more interested in watching through the big glass window, than they were in their food.

Very entertaining.

Cattenberg · 16/02/2025 16:42

I wonder how much it will cost the driver to get it back? I hope it’s significantly more than the £20 cost of using the car park, or the silly bastard won’t learn anything.

PuppyMonkey · 16/02/2025 16:39

OP have you no food in the house because you didn’t get out to do the shopping?

*worries

I was just going for some bits for lunch for work in the week so I'll be fine. Considering opening that bottle of red that's left from Christmas though 😂

ThatsNotMyTeen · 16/02/2025 16:42

Bahahaha! Well done OP. What a shame you now won’t get anything else done today as you’ll need to be waiting at the window to see twatface come back and be bamboozled at what happened to his car

Why? She doesn’t need to. The police aren’t going to check she went out, and it doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter if OP never planned to leave her house again; that car would still be towed. She doesn’t need to go anywhere if she doesn’t want to. For all the driver knows, she left and came back.

Rosscameasdoody · 16/02/2025 16:43

discdiscsnap · 16/02/2025 16:38

I'd want to be out the house when they come back!! Good luck

I wouldn’t admit to anything if they knock. I’d smile sweetly and say ‘gosh was that what all that noise was !!’.

Do it OP - you can toast him from your window with it 😈

Well done for getting it sorted OP, great result but...half the street out watching a car being towed away? Heck it must be a slow day for a lot of people.

My neighbours would totally be watching if that was posted in the WhatsApp group. The children would love to see it

But maybe our lives are all dull compared to yours 😁

AhwimbowayAhwimboway · 16/02/2025 16:44

Love this. Good on you @Parkingdrama00

And the point is that he shouldn’t have parked in front of a dropped kerb. The parking fine and fees to recover his car will be a constant reminder of that !!

And the stunt the CF has pulled is going to cost them a lot more than £20 - good! 😂

Half the street was curtain twitching the other week when I had a blazing row with my neighbour over blocking my car in Blush

The police came out about it

In the south it can be £250+ for the removal, £25+ per day storage and the price of the PCN (Council removal). Don't know how much the police cost.

Turbo4 · 16/02/2025 16:45

I’m pretty sure you can only collect towed vehicles between Monday and Fridays as well. Usually 9am onwards. So no car for them tonight. 😉

Ickity · 16/02/2025 16:45

Love it! Good work OP. I hope it costs them £120 to get it back!
