To ask how to best handle this car blocking my drive?

Parkingdrama00 · 16/02/2025 14:07

I live near to a football stadium and the team are currently playing. Somebody has parked right across my drive and blocked me in. I assume they have gone the match.

You need a residents pass to park round here and it doesn't look like they have one. Looks like I'm trapped until they come back.

What's best to do? Can I report them to the council? Leave a note? Confront them upon their return. Or is all of that pointless?

I wanted to go to the supermarket which will likely be closed by the time they're back.

ill admit fastest ive seen a car get towed

Maybe they're on MN and are following the thread.

Parkingdrama00 · 16/02/2025 16:37

I do have a photo that I sent to my Mum and a couple of friends who were also invested 😂 but I've already said the exact area I live in so unfortunately I don't want to post a picture of my street.

I'm not going out though, going to wait and see what happens next haha.

Would love it if their car passes them on their walk back 😂

That would be so funny. It would take them a few minutes to compute it's their car 😂

When a car gets towed away like that, (hurrah, by the way!), do the owners get sent any kind of notification? How do they find their car eventually?!

🍿 🍿 🍿
Edited to say - I hope their team lost as well 👊

Definitely, and 🍹🍹🍹too. Along with a 🤪 to the driver !!

discdiscsnap · 16/02/2025 16:38

I'd want to be out the house when they come back!! Good luck

Whatthebarnacles · 16/02/2025 16:38

I'll be refreshing the active chats list waiting for the "DH has lost our car; AIBU to LTB" thread later 🙈🤣

Owmyelbow · 16/02/2025 16:39

Hopefully they tell all of their football supporter friends and a valuable parking lesson will be learned by all.

You call the police or TRACE.

Why no photo of the towing OP?

I asked earlier for a sneaky, non identifying photo too…

Perhaps the empty space and the back of the driver when he or she returns….

ChancesAreLow · 16/02/2025 16:39

I bet the driver is a CF in lots of other ways. The type of person who is happy to actually block someone in, is so selfish.

So glad it was rightfully towed!

FilthyforFirth · 16/02/2025 16:39

Oh excellent, can't wait for his reaction! (Hope you keep safe obvs)

PuppyMonkey · 16/02/2025 16:39

OP have you no food in the house because you didn’t get out to do the shopping?

*worries

I think when there are big events going on, there is usually a tow truck around for exactly this purpose.

Or an aibu- "saw an empty driveway and assumed the owners out for the day, was i unreasonable to park there?" 😂 dickheads

Hellohah · 16/02/2025 16:40

Having my car towed would really confuse the life out of me!

I am hoping you can describe in detail the head-scratching when the owner returns. I would never block a drive, but even if I had I don't know whether my car being towed would be the first thing that pops into my head when I returned to where I parked it and it wasn't there.

I'm hoping their reaction is pure comedy for you OP (I imagine mine would be haha)

I would think when they ring the police to report it stolen there’ll be something on the database to tell them it’s been towed and where to claim it. Someone upthread asked if they left a notification where it was parked. That’d be something wouldn’t it ? An envelope taped to the kerb perhaps !!

AngelicKaty · 16/02/2025 16:40

@Parkingdrama00 Absolute RESULT OP - well done! 👏 Got to finish my ironing but I'll be back shortly for the final episode "Owner returned to find his car gone ... da, da, daaaaaa!" 😂

What else do you think "this car is blocking my drive" means?! Confused

It could mean a lot of different things. Think about it and your not very smart question.

I wonder if they call the police to report it stolen, then the police tell them?

SweetBaklava · 16/02/2025 16:40

Wahooooo!!! What I wouldn't give to be a fly on the wall when the muppets returns to get their car...

IWillJustSayThis · 16/02/2025 16:40

I've seen people run after a tow truck including the great Kris Akabusi. He didn't catch the truck but seemed to accept that his car had gone.
