To ask how to best handle this car blocking my drive?

I live near to a football stadium and the team are currently playing. Somebody has parked right across my drive and blocked me in. I assume they have gone the match.

You need a residents pass to park round here and it doesn't look like they have one. Looks like I'm trapped until they come back.

What's best to do? Can I report them to the council? Leave a note? Confront them upon their return. Or is all of that pointless?

I wanted to go to the supermarket which will likely be closed by the time they're back.

I don’t think it’s a good idea to get into any sort of discussion with the owner. Especially if you’re on your own and he’s a Wolves fan as he’s likely not gonna be in the best mood to begin with.

I wouldn't do this. I'd just hide until they'd gone

I think I'd have a drink too - partly for Dutch courage and partly so you could say you had no plans to take your car out anyway so it wasn't you who reported it.

If he comes to the door and you answer it, just say "It's illegal to block a dropped kerb, someone must have called it in" with a little shrug and shut the door.

He doesn't need to know the someone was you 😎

I'm just imagining a woman on this thread, living near Anfield, cheering on OP, only to shortly get a call from her DH/DP asking to be picked up because his car's been towed. I'd say "Oh, it was you was it?" and then let him walk home! 😂

I've always wondered how you find out your car has been towed. I mean you'd return to where you thought you parked it, probably spend a few minutes deciding if it was actually where you parked it and then you do what? Do you start knocking on doors or is there a number that you'd phone to report it lost? I really don't know what the steps would be and I've always wondered as you can't come back to a note stuck on the ground or to the nearest lamppost.

Wouldn't your first thought be that it had been stolen and call the police? That's what I did anyway when I found my car wasn't there when I got back to where I'd parked it

Obviously it wasn't in front of someones drive

I'd just say "yeah, it's a known problem, so on match days the parking enforcement staff always do this"

OP have the police actually been to ticket the car ? I’m sure someone will be along to correct me if I’m wrong, but if it’s on a public road I think the police have to issue a ticket before it can be towed. Sorry to be a killjoy everyone !!

Hope they got towed cos no one should block a car in a drive, that is so out of order.

And also hope and you’ve been able to get to and around the shops before they close at 5pm.
