To ask how to best handle this car blocking my drive?

Parkingdrama00 · 16/02/2025 14:07

I live near to a football stadium and the team are currently playing. Somebody has parked right across my drive and blocked me in. I assume they have gone the match.

You need a residents pass to park round here and it doesn't look like they have one. Looks like I'm trapped until they come back.

What's best to do? Can I report them to the council? Leave a note? Confront them upon their return. Or is all of that pointless?

I wanted to go to the supermarket which will likely be closed by the time they're back.

OP have the police actually been to ticket the car ? I’m sure someone will be along to correct me if I’m wrong, but if it’s on a public road I think the police have to issue a ticket before it can be towed. Sorry to be a killjoy everyone !!

No that's not correct. It's two separate processes. The police can remove it as the car is blocking the OP in.

If it were the council that had attended then the CEO will issue the PCN just before removing the vehicle. It's all done pretty much at the same time. The police thing is criminal, the council is civil law.

one of my fave parking threads was the live one with the road closed for resurfacing and lots of parked cars getting towed. Lots of pics on that one from a mumsnetter who lived on the road. Happy days.

Idiot deserves all he gets. Hope he arrives just in time to see it driving off round the corner.

So many people assuming a ‘he’.

Could be a ‘she’.

That was an excellent 'live' thread.

I remember that one - but the OP made it obvious where she lived and I remember "wandering" down said street on Google Maps.

I remember that one.

The OP tried to warn the women who parked the car but they told her to fuck off. So she did.

I concur, it's this or the ironing, I want a happy ending.

Could mean 'I am on the road and cannot access my drive'.

Legally, being unable to get off your drive onto the road is a problem that can be dealt with. However being unable to get ON your driveway from the road is not.

Of course OP doesn't mean that . She said in the opening post that she wanted to go to the supermarket . Unless , of course , the supermarket is in her garden and she can't get access to it . 😉

Another of my faves was the 4 thread drama where a bloke had parked on OPs property and gone off bike riding with his kids, so OP shut and locked the gate, and her brother led the bloke a merry dance. I think the car ended up being there overnight or something?

ChancesAreLow · 16/02/2025 16:28

Thanks for that, felt sure someone would know for sure. Back to the action……….!!

Oh god, wasn't it very close to a huge forest or something? There were photos and lots of details.

Tolkienista · 16/02/2025 16:28

I'm fully Invested in this post.
We've all had someone blocking our driveway it's absolutely infuriating.

That was a great thread. Often I think these kinds of threads aren't real but the OP posted photos of the cars getting towed, it was hilarious.

Duckfeather · 16/02/2025 16:29

If anyone has links to the threads previously mentioned to kill time while we await an update that would be amazing!

Was that the one where OP lived on a farm ?

Parkingdrama00 · 16/02/2025 16:30

They've bloody took it! I actually can't believe that has just happened. No sign of the driver as of yet but if anybody knocks I won't be answering.

Half the street was out watching, tow fellas took it no bother. Said they do it a fair bit round here on match and concert days.

They played really we though, I was rooting for them.
