To ask how to best handle this car blocking my drive?

Parkingdrama00 · 16/02/2025 14:07

I live near to a football stadium and the team are currently playing. Somebody has parked right across my drive and blocked me in. I assume they have gone the match.

You need a residents pass to park round here and it doesn't look like they have one. Looks like I'm trapped until they come back.

What's best to do? Can I report them to the council? Leave a note? Confront them upon their return. Or is all of that pointless?

I wanted to go to the supermarket which will likely be closed by the time they're back.

I obviously need more excitement in my life because I am just refreshing this and hoping for drama

welshwanderwoman · 16/02/2025 16:13

I don’t know what it is about a parking thread but ooh I am excited 😂

Me too.

And I doubt it's just us! 😃

Out of interest, if the owner gets back and the car has gone, how do they know how to get it back or where it's gone? Do they pin a note to the empty tarmac? 😂

The driver has to call the police or Trace. You provide your vehicle details and the area that it was parked in and they will locate it for you. As a vehicle is removed, it is logged. It is then logged as it is checked into the car pound. It could also be relocated to another road / parking bay and would also be logged and photographed.

LaBarruci · 16/02/2025 16:13

They may have gone to the pub, of course, or just to hang out for post-match gossip.

My day has been so boring, I'm finding this thrilling! 🤣🤣

I know. I love a good parking thread and this one has it all - football, shit parking, will the tow truck beat the dickhead to his car !!

So if the car is towed before the owners get there is the OP going to go out and let them know where it's gone? (And ask them why the fuck they thought blocking her in was a good idea)

I don't think that's a good idea, she owes him no explanation.

Blarn · 16/02/2025 16:14

Shamelessly placemarking!

I agree. It'll only end in a fight.

Let it tow, let it tow, let it tow!

😂Excellent.

Mymanyellow · 16/02/2025 16:15

Idiot deserves all he gets. Hope he arrives just in time to see it driving off round the corner.

LookItsMeAgain · 16/02/2025 16:15

I've always wondered how you find out your car has been towed. I mean you'd return to where you thought you parked it, probably spend a few minutes deciding if it was actually where you parked it and then you do what? Do you start knocking on doors or is there a number that you'd phone to report it lost? I really don't know what the steps would be and I've always wondered as you can't come back to a note stuck on the ground or to the nearest lamppost.

dapsnotplimsolls · 16/02/2025 16:15

I hope he turns up to an empty space and all the neighbours on their doorsteps. Preferably with pitchforks ...

Sunnydiary · 16/02/2025 16:15

In OPs shoes I would pretend to be out.

Or just say you haven’t seen anything, are they sure this is where they left it?

Not a chance I'd be doing that. If the silly prick knocked on my door, I'd ignore him too.

Oh sweet Jesus there's a tow truck coming round the corner. Let me go out and then I'll update

This has totally made my Sunday!!

"You'll never walk alone"🎶 Or "he'll be walking home"?

Me too - I want Team Tow Truck to win! 😂

I’m a wolves fan. We just lost. So I’m counting this as a win for me personally now 😂

You call TRACE.

McGregor33 · 16/02/2025 16:16

If the driver knocks and asks if you know what happened to his car, don’t say you called them if your home alone. Just say the street is regularly patrolled and it was towed x

DazedDragon · 16/02/2025 16:16

This is more exciting than live football score updates!

Hopefully it's now being towed! The question is... will the CF get back in time just to pay the tow truck or will they be too late and also have to pay storage!?!?

Treeleaf11 · 16/02/2025 16:17

I wouldn't answer the door

Tutorpuzzle · 16/02/2025 16:17

This is almost as good as the stolen hairdryer thread!!

HelpMeGetThrough · 16/02/2025 16:17

Let it tow, let it tow, let it tow!

Or in the style of Trump...

Tow Baby Tow!!!!

ChompandaGrazia · 16/02/2025 16:17

I would take a huge amount of pleasure in watching the owner getting shitty. And if they knocked on the door I would deny all knowledge of having even noticed a car.
