AIBU to get angry about Pizza Express...

...pizzas with holes cut out and salad put in the middle? Why?! Why the fuck not just order a smaller pizza and get a side salad?!! Who get's the bits they cut out? Is there a secret menu? Are the 'holes' what prince andrew eats when he goes?
For something that doesn't concern me as I'd never order one it does make me quite unreasonably angry. In fact my dander levels have been drastically elevated since I saw the menu on Thursday.

(Although it does look like the chef enjoyed making it VERY much!😮)

Why is it sad? I hate feeling overly full and stuffed and sluggish. It ruins the afternoon for me. If bought a whole one I would waste some.

Domino’s do, their personal pizza is 7 inches. I always get one if having a takeaway.

Noooo! I like this option because the crust is crispy and the edge round the hole is also crispy. Best bit for me!

Why would you be angry about a dish that is aimed to help people not overeat/keep their calories down?

I would imagine that anyone invited to a meal there who wants to enjoy the company of their colleagues/friends/family would be greatly relieved they don't have a full size pizza out in front of them that they may feel obliged to eat all of it.

Just order a half pizza and take it home in a box after. I would do that but I can’t help but eat the whole thing. Agree about the Fiorentina issue though. Design flaw. so YANBU

I might get one those later today when we go to Pizza express with friends! DS2 won't finish his kids meal, so half a pizza/salad thing plus half of DS2s meal is more than enough for lunch for me.

I always feel a bit bad when I can't finish a full pizza.

At our pizza express you can just ask for any pizza on any base regardless of how it's presented on the menu and they seem happy enough to oblige- I assume you can do that at any branch.

You know what used to be a normal amount of pizza to eat as a meal when I was a kid in the 2000s? ONE LARGE SLICE.

That was considered normal portion size, it was considered unthinkable for a person to eat one entire pizza by themselves. It was a sharing food. I lived in Italy too for a while and we used to share pizzas between friends.

Then I migrated to the UK and initially thought people were joking when they said we’ll order one pizza per person.

Now I’m a ‘full pizza just for me’ person. But it goes to show what an obesogenic environment we live in where people get shamed for not eating a full pizza all by themselves.

Nope........not for me! If I am having salad to accompany another dish I don't want it anywhere near hot food.......nothing worse than limp greens!!!😡

This is my pizza of choice, as I don’t want to order a whole pizza. It suits many customers, hence it’s been on the menu for years.

Pizza express = the worst and most overpriced pizza in existence. Of course they cut holes out of it to charge you more then chuck the rest in the bin (or cut smaller holes into the small circles for Prince Andrew to play with)

I tried one years ago and found it disappointing.

Personally I prefer to save calories by only eating the best bits of the pizza and cutting off the crust plus leaving other bits if I’m full.

Only compromise is: no salad 😢

🤣 I used to have one of these when going to Pizza Express.
Because I can never eat a whole pizza , they don’t do small pizzas and nobody else wanted to share a pizza with me .
I do like bit of salad 🥗 too with pizza so that suited me fine .
I like to leave room for a coffee and mini dessert thingy as well if it’s lunchtime.
If it’s evening then I’d have a starter or share a starter so that’s enough for me .
I assume they make a “ normal “ pizza , cut out the hole in middle and reshape the spare dough bits into another pizza 😆

You can only have half a pizza if you are with someone who would share it with you.

You could buy a whole pizza and take half of it home to eat later.

You do appear unreasonably angry and upset about this. Is something else bothering you or do you normally get upset about things that don’t impact you

I think it’s a great idea, reduces cals, looks lovely and they are tasty, I don’t understand your feelings of anger and decision we shouldn’t be able to order such a thing and must have a small pizza and a side salad instead.

I’m honestly not sad at all 😆 but I am small with only so much room in my stomach for pizza 🍕 I do however, have a 2nd stomach for a little gelato or dessert / coffee 😉

The other pizzas are around 1100 calories at least! The salad filled pizzas are a normal portion size. Do people really not understand why that’s a good thing to offer? Has nobody ever had a weight problem?

I rather agree. It would be better if the salad was replacing the crust.
