AIBU to get angry about Pizza Express...

...pizzas with holes cut out and salad put in the middle? Why?! Why the fuck not just order a smaller pizza and get a side salad?!! Who get's the bits they cut out? Is there a secret menu? Are the 'holes' what prince andrew eats when he goes?
For something that doesn't concern me as I'd never order one it does make me quite unreasonably angry. In fact my dander levels have been drastically elevated since I saw the menu on Thursday.

My new suggestion is they do the pizzas as shown in the picture but with the outer 3 inches removed.

Yes!! I always eat the middle first, you know, with the topping?! Then the crust only if I have space. It’d make much more sense just to sell the smaller pizza with a side salad. Don’t know why people are flaming you OP. It’s just a shit, faddy way of doing calorie counting.

I told my Italian colleague about it once when we went for pizza (different chain) and she thought it was so strange - something only Brits could dream up 😆

The middle of a pizza is the best part, usually, though admittedly the last time I had a pizza express pizza it was raw. I have also never forgiven them for taking my go to pizza off their menu. RIP giandiniera ( spelling) . Their garlic bread isn’t as good as it used to be either.

You find carrying a box home and then later opening said box and eating the food within a faff? How do you cope with day to day activities?

Do you perhaps have the “skill level” to comprehend that, for many people, a meal out is the beginning of a night out? Or that not everyone goes everywhere by car? I don’t want to go around bars carrying half a pizza, or to take it on the Tube or in a cab.

How do you cope with normal day to day conversation when you’re this rude for no reason?

They’ve been doing this for at least 15 years! Why has this only come to your attention now? Also, the length of time that they have had these items on their menu suggests they’re pretty popular.

At no point have I said that I don’t understand the concept of taking leftovers home. Neither have I suggested it’s on a par with climbing Kilimanjaro or splitting the atom in terms of difficulty level.

However, OP seems to think ordering a full pizza and only eating half of it is a better idea that ordering a dish that actually equates to half a pizza. To me, it IS a faff to order something you don’t actually want and take half of it home when you could just order the pizza and salad option the OP objects to so much. As I’ve already pointed out, not everyone will be going straight home from somewhere like Pizza Express. It’s a start of the night/quick bite before the cinema or theatre type place for many. I for one wouldn’t want to be carrying a pizza box about all night when I could just eat the one that comes with no middle.

Eurgh , I don't like the middle bit of a pizza ( or a sandwich ) so the outer edge with salad ( love rocket ) and their dressing is delicious .

I had one of these probably 15 years ago .

We stopped going the Pizza Express because we went to the local one , had a meal , took bloody ages to get served then get our food . The place was empty apart from us (4) and another table (of 5)

They wouldn't accept our money off voucher because "Oh you should've told us this when you came in" .
Maybe they have a different even slower ) menu if you have a promotional voucher

I order these when I go
Why?
Because they don't do small enough pizzas I can finish
I'm calorie conscious because I'm maintaining my weight so I still get a treat/eat out with others without the guilt!
I enjoy salad with my pizza , I don't want to order it seperately, cost extra
I don't want to order a normal pizza and not finish it (wasteful)
I don't want to bring the rest home, it'll just go in the bin - I don't want pizza for lunch and dinner or 2 days in a row

They've been on the menu for years so I'm sure if they were that shit and pointless they'd be taken of the menu by now. There obviously popular enough to warrant a space on the menu for so long

What is odd is the Leggera menu (pizzas with salad hole) has been around since the noughties. Has this only started bothering OP today?

I ordered that exact pizza in Woking Pizza Express. I'm not sure what I was expecting g, but I was slightly pissed off with it. The acoustics in the restaurant were awful and I had to suffer two mums loudly braying to the point where my own family couldn't hear each other converse, which may have added to my displeasure with the pizza.

I like them! Just the right size for me.
