To think these drawings are pretty great for their ages. What do you think the ages of the kids are?

Lighthearted thread. 🙂

Went to watch Dogman movie with my 2 kids. I was asleep through most of it to be honest but the kids found it funny. When they came back home they started doing some drawings based on the film. I think they are pretty great for their ages but then again I am hopeless when it comes to any form of art !

What age do you think my DC are based on these?

My kids were in the womb when drawing at that standard.

RadStag · 13/02/2025 19:38

Weirdly the colouring in of the cat at the top, doesn't match the stroke style/ability of the line drawing

Yes I thought that.

I agree they're good too OP. Based on the lesser drawing skills of my own older children (they're definitely not artists) I'd say 7-8 for the one on the left and 11-13 for the one on the right.

goodkidsmaadhouse · 13/02/2025 19:38

My younger kids are 6 and 8 and I reckon they could do something similar so since you're very impressed I'm going to say 4 and 6!

Serriadh · 13/02/2025 19:39

About 6 and 8. I’d say older for the one on the left if they’d come up with the shadowing on the writing independently but that’s copied from the books/film.

Wow, such a shame you have a dullard... mine did a similar piece of work in my left ovary...

discdiscsnap · 13/02/2025 19:40

I would genuinely guess 6 and 9.

Yes this is why I think they're maybe not that old - the pictures and writing are quite easy to copy from the books. I'm rubbish at art but even I can whip up a pretty decent dog man and cat kid!

Dramatic · 13/02/2025 19:41

I'd go for about 6 and 8, maybe 9

movinghouse12 · 13/02/2025 19:41

My DD is 4.5 and she is a long way off from the photo on the left. She loves drawing too. I'd say maybe 7 for the one on the left? Or a super eager and advanced 6YO? No idea about the other.

Is that it ?

Well my Tarquin and Esmerelda managed to paint an exact replica of the Mona Lisa AND swim round their daddys nutsack at the same time. 😏

I'm also guessing this, although mine drew different kinds of pictures so hard to guess!

FoxtonFoxton · 13/02/2025 19:42

How sweet, they are really good!
Every child has different talents and it's always difficult to say how old the children involved are. It doesn't matter really as long as they've had a lovely time drawing!
DD was always a very natural talent at art from an early age while DS had no interest or discernable talent at it. Meanwhile he could read amazingly at two years old while DD really struggled throughout primary.

MyVIsForVendetta · 13/02/2025 19:42

23 weeks

I work in a Year 3 class with7/8 year olds.
The right picture looks like our best artists work so 7/8.
The left picture I’d say is a really good Year 1 child so 5/6.
Also it looks like the picture was copied from something rather than an original idea so that makes it easier.

EnRouteElsewhere · 13/02/2025 19:43

4.5 and 7

Oh well, they did have an advantage for the swimming I suppose.

Aforementioned child isn't even the artist of the family. If you care to look, my uterus has a wonderful version of the Cistene Chapel Ceiling from the arty one she did as the egg travelled out of the tubes.... Please don't scream when you see it.

Pertner · 13/02/2025 19:45

7 and 9

Goldenbear · 13/02/2025 19:45

6 and 10 for the right picture.

FallenRaingel · 13/02/2025 19:46

5 (maybe young 6) and 8 or young 9.
