To think these drawings are pretty great for their ages. What do you think the ages of the kids are?

Lighthearted thread. 🙂

Went to watch Dogman movie with my 2 kids. I was asleep through most of it to be honest but the kids found it funny. When they came back home they started doing some drawings based on the film. I think they are pretty great for their ages but then again I am hopeless when it comes to any form of art !

What age do you think my DC are based on these?

I’d say about 5 and 8ish? My son is 13 and still couldn’t draw with that level of accuracy how but my girls were possibly drawing like this at those sorts of ages (of course it’s been years now so I’m possibly wrong 😂).
Either way, they’re great drawings and very clear what they are. TBH I’d definitely struggle to draw something as clear now!

I had a boy in my class a few years ago, he was about 7 at this point, he struggled with writing, numeracy levels were through the floor, found it hard to sit still and listen, generally found many aspects of school life really challenging but my goodness he could draw to an astonishing level. The attention to detail was remarkable. I often think of him when I see kids drawings!

I'm going for 6 and a precocious 8. Now it's time for you to come back and tell us the answer, OP!

EnglishGirlApproximately · 13/02/2025 19:56

No idea on the ages but just mentioning that Phoenix magazine do drawing tutorials around these and other characters on a fairly regular basis if you're kids like drawing.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 13/02/2025 20:12

I 'fink your 'aving a bit of a laugh' as they say on Eastenders Street.

I suspect that these were actually drawn by you and DP, although I'm not sure which was done by whom.

At a wild guess it is to prove some sort of point in a marital dispute...🤐

I’ll bite. My 8yo could have done the one on the right, quite easily but she loves drawing and is very creative (for balance her spelling is shit(

80smonster · 13/02/2025 20:18

6 & 8.

UbiquitousObjects · 13/02/2025 20:21

I think my nearly 8 year old would be in the middle of the two...but possibly a bit closer to the one on the left.

On that basis I'd say 7 and 9.

GroovyChick87 · 13/02/2025 20:22

First one 7, second one 9 but with a talent for art.

UbiquitousObjects · 13/02/2025 20:22

Is the twist going to be that the one on the right was the younger child? 😯

ItGhoul · 13/02/2025 20:24

I'm going with 6 and 9.

My kids were in the womb when drawing at that standard.

My eggs could do this.

Going on my family 38 and 60

DancingButterflies · 13/02/2025 20:30

Who cares how old they are. I’m just impressed your children are drawing and colouring in and not sat staring at a computer screen! Love the pics.

Duechristmas · 13/02/2025 20:31

4 & 8

AlbertCamusflage · 13/02/2025 20:38

Lovely pics, @Sweetsweetland , and whatever age your sons are you are right to be impressed and joyful.
I'm going to take a wild but sincere guess (based on no real knowledge at all, being an art numpty whose kids took little joy in drawing.)
Five and nine?
But even if they are older than that, the pics are great. I couldn't do the one on the right and I don't think my kids ever did any pics as accomplished as that.

I am an artist FWIW age has no relevance if your children have an interest then nurture it. Take them out with drawing sheets and crayons, get them to interpret their environment, explore what they express in that.

if you nurture this interest then it will always be of value to them. Take them to art galleries.

they may or may not be the next Van Gough or Leonardo Devinci. Or the greatest living artists of our time (Banksy for me)

By the way get yourself some art materials.

Art is for everyone.
