To think Trump might be the right Leader for right now?

Theemeperorsnewclothes · 12/02/2025 23:25

I am so confused why I am starting to think that Trump might be a good thing right now. I do think he is making the right moves to end conflict right now, which of course can only be a good thing for the poor people suffering in war zones but I’m so conflicted. I was trying to search for why I felt this way and what past war and future war situations might mean with Trump at the helm. Below are notes to myself. I know you educated, worldly wise mums will absolutely be able to educate on what I am missing. I am genuinely interested to hear your perspectives.

Why do wars start?
War is caused by many different things, including competition over land, religious conflicts, and nationalism. Imperialism, racism, and slavery have also been causes of armed conflict.
Why do wars end?
Realistically, wars usually end when one side wins or the parties experience significant war weariness. Thus, World War I was only a temporary end-of-war because there was no clear-cut victory.
We need to put an end to why wars start, not why wars end. Too much devastation and destruction and loss of life when a war starts. In this case, like the war in Gaza there has been no clear “winner” there has been constant and significant “war weariness” but some other country/political party/religious group steps in. However, there is still never a “clear-cut victory”
Tackle the issues that START wars and not STOP wars in the first place. A true leader will make their priority tackling all the issues that start wars. Trump needs to prove himself in this approach.
That said, we are in a very volatile world and ENDING wars is the first priority. Trump appears to have that in his sights. I say this as far left viewer of the world, as opposed to the right take on the world, as it is today.
I don’t care if you are left or right or somewhere in between. War must end now and we must have a leader who can figure out how to stop it happening again. The end. The Leader who can STOP wars happening in the first place, is the one who can save humanity. Right now, we need the wars to end, and like it or not, that is the position we find ourselves in, and that’s why, I currently think it might be Trump.

Anyone have any idea who is the leader who can STOP wars happening in the first place? I’m thinking they would need to be free from corruption and probably not an egotistical, power hungry male.

End of my rant 😁.

He’s a dangerous dictator .. he reminds me of the Martians from Mars Attacks when he’s ranting on

He is another Hitler as far as I’m concerned and I find it quite terrifying .. have you read Project 25 ?

It's because of the media you're reading. Try reading other sources.

I'm a Dem voting (British) American and I'm a bit bored of the whole he's a Nazi nonsense as that's just fueling the Trump hyperbole. I am also VERY over my very wealthy, liberal, middle aged, supposedly deeply educated, white female friends sharing very obvious misinformation, while they wring their hands and worry about their rights. Their complete inability to recognize their privilege in what they post is astounding.

That said, I But I do think that Trump is an absolute disaster for this country. I hope I'm proven wrong, I really do. But all Im seeing is a bunch of billionaires running us all, full steam, into a recession and a potential human rights nightmare and the only people who will benefit are the billionaires. It's no wonder so many of them looked so happy at the inauguration.

I very much agree with you.

@Theemeperorsnewclothes basically as it shows in threads on here as an example, people get angry to easy, then they try to argue about whos more right rather than proper debates, then in the context of the world one country or group attacks another group or country and then it goes from there, one side does x and another side does x until they either use nukes or one side gets defeated.

i recommend watching the film equilibrium with Christian bale in it

H112 · 13/02/2025 00:28

Above all, he is a racist.

He is homophobic and transphobic and has put the lgbt community in even more danger than they already were.

but I am keen to understand others thoughts.

Hopefully you are getting the message loud and clear

Theemeperorsnewclothes · 13/02/2025 00:29

You are so right. Thank you for the recommendation. I haven’t seen that film.

I'm pretty sure Trump is not trying to end the Ukraine/Russian war out of the goodness of his own heart. He will be gaining something from this for sure!

Yes, Trump wants Ukraine's rare earth minerals worth 500 billion.

In addition, Ukraine is going to lose its mineral rich land in the east to Russia. They are going to lose so much. There wont be any NATO membership for them.

Nevermind91 · 13/02/2025 00:31

Trump is an utter disaster for humanity.
Ukraine is being left no choice but to surrender land to Russia. You can put money on Russia taking more before the year is out.
That, in turn, is massive green light for China to head into Taiwan.
And as for Gaza, it is about to get a whole lot worse. What's left of their bonkers administration won't just stand by and let Trump dictate what happens next.

From the perspective this side of the pond. With either Countries politicians, the only people they will serve are themselves and their mates. Doesn't matter if right, left, up or down.

Unfortunately we have no choice. We have to, and we need to look at ways to make it work for us, the UK in a positive way. Calling him a cunt is not going to achieve that.

I didn't but he is

There is no way to make Trump's presidency 'work for us'

FML, it isn't just about stopping wars. Look at everything else he is doing. He has literally just suggested displaying 2 million fucking people from Gaza. Every day he does something that disturbs me more.
Also, even if the war in Ukraine ends it doesn't necessarily mean an end to a lot of the suffering.

RafaistheKingofClay · 13/02/2025 00:37

The military might of Russia? It’s 3 years into a 3day war against what should have been a much weaker opponent. The only reason that we started pumping vast amounts of arms into Ukraine was because it unexpectedly didn’t collapse immediately and it looked winnable.

Had we actually given them enough support and unlimited use of the weapons Russia may have lost by now.

RafaistheKingofClay sure that all the Ukrainians in the east are going to be wild about suddenly finding themselves living in Russia. Especially after the sacrifices they’ve already made.....

A lot of Ukrainians were Russian....and happily existing in Ukraine

Nope. They are Ukrainian. Not Russian.

Why on earth would you be referencing other posts to say I’m “stirring up trouble”? It’s really easy, don’t get involved in my posts. Don’t attack me on posts?! Maybe don’t engage in my posts? Thanks.

I don't really think there was ever any other outcome with Ukraine.

And increasingly I suspect that there is no possible outcome in the Middle East that includes Palestine and Israel.

People can not like these things, but that doesn't really tell us they are untrue. It sometimes seems to me that people are willing to forgo an workable solution, including in Ukraine, because it makes them feel better to wait for an ideal, impossible, solution. But that doesn't actually serve the Ukrainians.

Edited

Unless you are Ukrainian you cannot decide what's better for them.
