To think Trump might be the right Leader for right now?

Theemeperorsnewclothes · 12/02/2025 23:25

I am so confused why I am starting to think that Trump might be a good thing right now. I do think he is making the right moves to end conflict right now, which of course can only be a good thing for the poor people suffering in war zones but I’m so conflicted. I was trying to search for why I felt this way and what past war and future war situations might mean with Trump at the helm. Below are notes to myself. I know you educated, worldly wise mums will absolutely be able to educate on what I am missing. I am genuinely interested to hear your perspectives.

Why do wars start?
War is caused by many different things, including competition over land, religious conflicts, and nationalism. Imperialism, racism, and slavery have also been causes of armed conflict.
Why do wars end?
Realistically, wars usually end when one side wins or the parties experience significant war weariness. Thus, World War I was only a temporary end-of-war because there was no clear-cut victory.
We need to put an end to why wars start, not why wars end. Too much devastation and destruction and loss of life when a war starts. In this case, like the war in Gaza there has been no clear “winner” there has been constant and significant “war weariness” but some other country/political party/religious group steps in. However, there is still never a “clear-cut victory”
Tackle the issues that START wars and not STOP wars in the first place. A true leader will make their priority tackling all the issues that start wars. Trump needs to prove himself in this approach.
That said, we are in a very volatile world and ENDING wars is the first priority. Trump appears to have that in his sights. I say this as far left viewer of the world, as opposed to the right take on the world, as it is today.
I don’t care if you are left or right or somewhere in between. War must end now and we must have a leader who can figure out how to stop it happening again. The end. The Leader who can STOP wars happening in the first place, is the one who can save humanity. Right now, we need the wars to end, and like it or not, that is the position we find ourselves in, and that’s why, I currently think it might be Trump.

Anyone have any idea who is the leader who can STOP wars happening in the first place? I’m thinking they would need to be free from corruption and probably not an egotistical, power hungry male.

End of my rant 😁.

@Theemeperorsnewclothes If you seriously believe that Trump is creating ‘peace talks’ when he talks to Netanyahu about wiping Palestinians out of Gaza and arranging talks with with Russia about about ‘peace’ in Ukraine that involves giving Russia Ukrainian land and demanding 50% of Ukraine’s minerals for America, you are in desperate need of education. 🙄

Theemeperorsnewclothes · 19/02/2025 22:31

I am shocked at the developments from Trump to distance himself from the UK. When I started this post, I thought he was somewhat of a loose cannon, divisive, but potentially someone who was going to ‘pull rank’ with all the problematic nations. His curve ball of leaving the UK and Ukraine to side with Russia is truly terrifying, particularly if you have family members of conscription age. The UK have ridiculously weak leaders to deal with the hell that is coming our way. Never in my lifetime did I think I’d be worrying about my children serving in a world war.

You say you don't support Trump - who are you trying to fool?

You call it 'brave'. Everyone with a moral compass calls it 'amorality', 'narcissism', 'cruelty', and 'recklessness'.

Why are you personally attacking me for having a different perspective? It is offensive to you for someone to use their critical thinking skills?

Do you not think the ending of any war where people’s lives are lost, whether that be soldiers or civilians, whether it be the Ukraine or in Gaza, is a good thing?

Do you want your sons going to war for Starmer?

Biden (or whoever was pulling his strings) didn’t make much progress did he?

I don’t buy, even Trump, making a public statement like that about Zelensky, without some deal going on in the background.

Trump is a lot of things but he’s not an idiot.

What? What a bonkers response, “name calling and bullying?” “Civil debate?” You’ve wasted my energy and time replying to an utter troll.

I am just going to highlight this response in the thread… I “am desperate need of education” every time you personally attack someone and try to shut their correspondence down you do a disservice to open communication. Stop personally attacking posters to try and get your point across. Mumsnet has this ethos of supporting this troll approach. It’s not productive and it’s pretty pathetic that they’ve not tackled it thus far.

Some of these are posters are quoting the horse shit straight from the Putin/Trump/MAGA playback and not worthy of debate.

Bring facts to the table rather than fiction and I'll play the game.

Actually Trump may well be an Idiot. He inherited his millions from his father, then managed to go bankrupt twice. If you seriously believe that Trump is creating ending wars when he talks to Netanyahu about wiping Palestinians out of Gaza and arranging talks with with Russia about about ‘peace’ in Ukraine that excludes Ukrainian representatives, or any Europeans, involves giving Russia Ukrainian land and demanding 50% of Ukraine’s minerals for America, you are in desperate need of education

Fawful · 19/02/2025 22:45

To coincide with the "peace talks", Russia is now attempting to shift opinion in Europe about Ukraine, (which it had realised was a mostly pointless exercise up until now - unlike in Africa) by shit posting its very recognisable takes on social media. We can look forward to more trolling.

I’m not attacking you, I am stating an opinion, that the views you put forward here strongly suggest you lack education. Have you failed to notice how many posters share my opinion. The points you make in your posts are obtuse. The only one you have shown any incite in is the one where Trump got your attention by saying something that made you worry that your own children could end up fighting in a war.

And again you are personally attacking individuals on a thread rather than entering into fair and productive debate. You jumped on the chance to put me down, gain support from the others who love to see a comment putting an individual down to boost their own sense of inadequacy. Quite sad really.

In your post, that I quoted.

The Palestinian people, overwhelmingly, do not want to be forced out of the Gaza strip, the systematic and forced removal of them would be the dictionary definition of ethnic cleansing, and you are cheering it on ("Go Trump").

In what way are you not supporting ethnic cleansing?

Well you’d think the threat of being removed would focus their elected government’s minds on surrendering, and allowing a government who wants peace with Israel to take over then wouldn’t you? They should have considered that before starting a war in the name of their people.

Maybe releasing ALL the living and dead bodies of Israeli hostages immediately, or even by January 20th, would have been a start? Not dragging it out by releasing a few a week so they can regroup and rearm.

Do you support Hamas continuing to govern Gaza then?

Can you think of a better way to force them to give themselves up?

If you want to view handing total victory to the bad guys across every conceivable part of society and geopolitics, Trump is absolutely your man. He doesn't give a shit about war or not war, he just wants to win. It's why he installed musk.
Musk talks to the Indian government in the oval office about their resistance to SpaceX and fairly blatantly pressuring them to take his business with the threat of the entire machinery of the US government behind him. Just think about that. He's certainly not doing that because he loves India.

Don't understand how you can say you're left wing tbh.

Trump is a lot of things but he’s not an idiot.

Well... on the one hand, he managed to become president of the United States and build a loyal following of crazy cultists, which isn't that easy, so he's clearly pretty talented.

On the other hand, he often behaves idiotically (says the first things that comes into his head and who cares about the consequences). E.g. the time he suggested drinking bleach as a cure for COVID and some people tried it,

But also, his interests are mostly not aligned with those of the nation, or the world. He's corrupt and he has some fixed ideas (e.g. tariffs are great, alliances are bad, deals are always zero sum, so l-called friends are probably out to get you so you should get them first when they are not expecting it).

So even when he is behaving rationally we may not like the outcome.

That's a long and deflective way of saying "Yes, I support ethnic cleansing" but well done for (sort of) owning it, I guess.

correction history will show who is correct in their views or not, just because some think the obvious is the truth does not make it the truth, history will show what will be then its upto those who thought x to either concede they were wrong or the other side to say they were right or even both sides have their points both partly proven correct or wrong etc
