Ainu to think Angela Rayners has been set up to fail on her 1.5m homes target ?
you can barely get planning permission through for a small extension in under 10 weeks let alone 1.5 m new homes
Every month that goes by the shortage compounds
I wonder if Kier has set her up to fail

Of course he has. She will be the fall guy. She’s a bit like Harris who was put in charge of the US border, when her handlers knew she had neither the intelligence, nor the political ability to get something like that done. Rayner is in same league.

Two Tier has his favourites. Rachel from accounts and Red Miliband. The former trashes the economy to give billions to the latter to piss up the wall. And the country just plunges deeper into oblivion.

Buckle up everyone. It’s gonna be a rough ride.

Can you explain how a programme of house building can crash an economy? https://lichfields.uk/blog/2018/august/13/the-economic-impact-of-house-building/

Rayner as deputy is simply a pick to appease what remains of the left in Labour, the idea she's a favourite of Starmer is laughable.

The Economic Impact of House Building

The Government has set out its stall for tackling the housing crisis, as emphasised most recently by the new revised National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) , which whilst covering all land use planning matters, was nevertheless firmly focused on boo...

Love ' angela from housing ' title 🤣

nam3c4ang3 · 09/02/2025 14:20

Im a conservative supporter and hate AR but even I think your title is stupid - if you want to make a point - try and be serious because you sound about 5.

mowmiaow · 09/02/2025 14:21

How misogynistic your post title is. Can't even be bothered to read the post when it comes from someone so obviously anti women.

edwinbear · 09/02/2025 14:22

bemoresloth · 09/02/2025 13:32

Has she?

I must have missed it, do you have the evidence to share?

JoyousGreyOrca · 09/02/2025 14:24

Angela from Housing is a misogynistic way to label a Cabinet Minister and Deputy Prime Minister. Or maybe you do not think someone from a working class background should be allowed to have her post? Instead she should be Angela doing an admin role in a Housing office?

Pickledpoppetpickle · 09/02/2025 14:24

JimHalpertsWife · 09/02/2025 12:20

Also, she isn't "Angela from Housing" - she's the deputy PM and calling her that nickname is quite misogynistic.

yep. You can like her politics or not but Angela Rayner is a woman to be admired. Started out as a very young, single parent who has somehow climbed the greasy pole of politics. She's bloody amazing not 'Angela from housing'.

godmum56 · 09/02/2025 14:25

Movinghouseatlast · 09/02/2025 13:10

Because it's diminishing her role and achievements. Because it's only women who are referred to in this way, so it's misogyny.

Two Jags? Bliar?

HellsBalls · 09/02/2025 14:27

The Grey Man? Paddy Pants down? Camoron?

edwinbear · 09/02/2025 14:28

Jeremy Hunt regularly had the first initial of his surname replaced with a ‘C’. Nobody was up in arms about that.

But he was one.
Angela Rayner is Deputy Prime Minister.

JoyousGreyOrca · 09/02/2025 14:30

We all know you think a working class woman should not be Deputy Prime Minister.

Tomorrowisanewday · 09/02/2025 14:30

As previous posters have said, planning permission is only part of the problem. I work in construction, and work on both private developments and developments for RSLs. Regardless of the sector that is being built (housing, commercial, healthcare, schools etc), we dont have the workforce to deliver. That has been happening for 10 years, but a combination of an aging workforce, not enough young people being attracted into the industry, and even our European colleagues going home (was happening before Brexit), this target is likely to be failed because of the labour shortage

anyoneforhockey · 09/02/2025 14:34

@JoyousGreyOrca Or maybe you do not think someone from a working class background should be allowed to have her post?

Being 'working class' isn't the issue. It's because she's as thick as mince and can't string a sentence together.

'50p Lee' Anderson is 'working class' yet is pretty smart and can put together a decent argument.

She is an intelligent woman.
What evidence do you have she is thick?

thestudio · 09/02/2025 14:35

Misogynist.

There is no point giving them actual evidence. If they truly believe that, at this stage, Reeves hasn't tanked the economy then they are just willfully ignorant and a few facts aren't going to change their mind

Its not unreasonable to expect someone with the right qualifications and experience to be in the role.

YABU to recycle a snarky little insult used to belittle one woman so that you can belittle another.

Damned right! Why belittle a woman in a very important job when the previous occupants and their friends didn’t do well enough to keep it?

shame on the op @billysboy

MarzipanAndFrenchFancies · 09/02/2025 14:40

Very misogynistic nickname op.

@edwinbear the pp response to this made me laugh

There's no point in pp caring now if names have been used all along

LivingLaVidaBabyShower · 09/02/2025 14:44

Whether she meets the target or not labour will fail at delivering against their actual objective.

Availability of housing isn’t the issue in the uk, Cost is.

increasing supply which we have already been doing for years has (for various reasons) not reduced the cost so this is a pointless exercise up there with their equally asinine 2030 net zero carbon electricity

Salacia · 09/02/2025 14:44

Between these thread titles and posters falling over themselves to explain away nazi salutes mumsnet is really becoming the pit of vipers it was always accused of being.

You and your silly nicknames sound very childish. Did you think they sounded clever/amusing?
