Ainu to think Angela Rayners has been set up to fail on her 1.5m homes target ?
you can barely get planning permission through for a small extension in under 10 weeks let alone 1.5 m new homes
Every month that goes by the shortage compounds
I wonder if Kier has set her up to fail

People seem to forget it was Tony Blair who originally wanted to privatise the NHS and it's still suffering as a result.

Of course they do.

It was Labour who introduced university tuition fees too.

Jossjt · 09/02/2025 13:35

bemoresloth · 09/02/2025 13:26

How much of that was caused by Liz Truss crashing the economy?

None. All the economic indicators were back their previous state 6 weeks after Truss left. The Tories got booted out for their 14 year record.

Rachel from accounts has created her own shitshow, all on her own talents.

It’s embarrassing to try to defend this. You really should steer clear.

SoundOfTheUnderground1 · 09/02/2025 13:36

I've waited years to see competent hardworking women in power. You can stick your name calling where the sun doesn't shone. Your internalized misogyny is embarrassing.

Yes

I have no words

Clafoutie · 09/02/2025 12:30

Agree completely. Do people think these names are funny?

Why is she exempt when "30p Lee" isn't! Two tier again. Just describes this shower perfectly.
Just look at the front bench, not a business person among them. Amateurs the lot !
Have they even had a proper job?

aspidernamedfluffy · 09/02/2025 13:40

What is it with the childish name calling? First it was "Rachel from accounts", now "Angela from housing". By all means object to what is being said but at least make your argument without sounding like "Billy from y3".

No words and no evidence?

Has she?

I must have missed it, do you have the evidence to share?

Oh come on. Even the Labour government thinks this.

Jossjt · 09/02/2025 13:43

bemoresloth · 09/02/2025 13:41

Someone needs to help this poster with how the economy works.

I just can’t be bothered.

bemoresloth · 09/02/2025 13:41

No words and no evidence?

More a case of too much evidence!

By every measure they accused Truss of, Reeves has hit. We are heading towards a recession, increase in NI has resulted in companies freezing recruitment or laying people off. Look at BoE forecasts, CBI statements etc. Reeves is a disaster.

I didn't read you post as I find the title misogynistic. I did notice though that you can't spell Keir.

Mumsgirls · 09/02/2025 13:46

jossjt You fell for it. Trump was able to say that Harris had failed on the border , when she had no power or money to anything and Biden was a lame duck who could do very little. Luckily Rainer is doing what is in the manifesto, so the whole gov has collective responsibility. Because they have a large majority Labour will be able to overcome the barriers to building. At least give them a fair go before you slate them. Only referring to housing, where they seem to be trying to keep promises. We shall see.

Ah that old chestnut.

Harris was atrocious because of everything but her own failures.

Rayner will no doubt try the same trick, except that the whole cabinet is a car crash so whole thing is crumbling.

downtick · 09/02/2025 13:55

You're referring to Angela Rayner, the "Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom" A member of the Labour leadership team? Someone who's been stating that Labour will build 1.5M new homes by the end of this parliament since before the Election.

Labour and Angela knew this target is unrealistic and unachievable.

Goes into the bucket of "Things we'll say to get elected"

MichaelandKirk · 09/02/2025 13:55

How on earth does Reeves think that by increasing NI for employers this will somehow grow the economy is beyond me. I work for a developer. The industry are keeping well clear of getting on the Angie bandwagon. Why would a developer want to build houses for Rayner? For the good of their conscious?

This is already on course to end in disaster. Heard Rayner on the news this morning. It’s never a good look to be caught saying your boss couldn’t run a bath….

Can someone name a Cabinet Minister who has ever run a successful company?

You still be waiting along time, Ryner certainly is not a competent hardworking women in power. 😂

Doloresparton · 09/02/2025 13:20

And yet as is often pointed out by the Boomer haters on here, these £1million homes were inexpensive to buy compared to now.
Therefore older people owning these homes may well be living on a very small income and couldn't afford these taxes.

I think its very worrying that anyone wants to manipulate taxes to prevent the elderly from having a free choice over remaining in a home they've bought and paid for.
It's not up to the elderly to bear the brunt of successive government's lack of care or foresight regarding housing.

If they have a massive asset they can borrow against it, if the tax laws get changed.
Equity release.

Most politicians these days are career politicians who have no idea how the world and business works

Your title is sexist. And his name is spelled "Keir". Quite easy to remember.

Have you?
120 female mp's in 1997, that's 28 years ago.
That was a lot in the day.
It's more than doubled now.

Margaret Beckett
Harriet Harman
Tessa Jowell
Yvette Cooper
Mo Mowlam
Rosie Winterton
Anne Clywd
Hilary Armstrong

And before them
Barbara Castle
Betty Boothroyd
Shirley Williams
Virginia Bottomley
Gillian Shepherd
Margaret Thatcher

Not enough, j know.
However as early as 1929 we had a female minister of labour and in 1945 a female minister for education.

Development has already ruined my village, but I’m sure we can cram a few more disgusting rabbit hutches in. My local woods have been hacked down to make way for a new estate, and a second massive estate has been built at the other end of the village. Now we’ve been told the fields in the centre of the village are going to be built on as well. And will that be enough?! Haha…no, silly, of course it won’t. The main road into town going to have 500 new homes built along it. That road is choked with traffic NOW, so god knows what will happen when an extra 500 cars are added.

I don’t know why we don’t just concrete over the whole of central and southern England and be done with it. I was a fool for working all my life. I thought if I worked hard and saved my money I could have a little house with a scrap of garden and some peace and quiet. I don’t ask for much, just some peace and space and natural beauty. But my reward for working hard and obeying the law is to watch the countryside around me disappear. Sooner or later the field next to me will be built on as well. Looking back, I wish I’d gone into social housing and played the benefit system. I know people like Rayner hate my guts. She hates peoples like me, and so do most lefties. Deep down, it delights them to imagine all us horrible middle-class NIMBYs having our lives ruined.

Not sure she's been set up but may well do the latter part of your thread

As for names this site is overrun with similar for non Labour which pp don't seem to object to and probably use

On the economy that's easily understood re the impact of the budget and policies on the private sector and growth
