Ainu to think Angela Rayners has been set up to fail on her 1.5m homes target ?
you can barely get planning permission through for a small extension in under 10 weeks let alone 1.5 m new homes
Every month that goes by the shortage compounds
I wonder if Kier has set her up to fail

Schools pulling out of "free breakfast clubs" due to funding = 60p per child

https://schoolsweek.co.uk/we-cant-run-at-a-loss-heads-snub-flagship-breakfast-clubs/

So it will cost the school more money, and kibosh their existing early morning provisions. Have I read that correctly?

I used to help out at our dc's school at breakfast club. It was £2 per child but free for the kids in receipt of FSM. The only parents who used it were the fee paying ones who needed the childcare to get to work. It was never used by those who would have benefited from free meal.

That was a joke yesterday Starmer helicoptered out rather than face the farmers! Spineless doesn’t even come close. Utterly despise the current government…what a mess in such a short time! See Reeves under the cosh again more lying on her cv and expense irregularities …we’ve really scraped the bottom of useless with our current crew …I cannot imagine how as it will be if they do a full term it’s terrifying

marshmallowmix · 14/02/2025 19:12

Plus the llama drama we are a laughing stock …

TheNuthatch · 14/02/2025 20:34

@marshmallowmix
Gosh yes, all of that! It's a shit show with bells on. What a week it's been!

TheNuthatch · 14/02/2025 20:52

I see David Lammy has been let out of the FOffice for a bit. God he's embarrassing.

Parsley1234 · 14/02/2025 22:11

@TheNuthatch what a total tool where’s he been let out to ? He’s a total imbecile

Nato meeting. Photos of him having meetings with JD Vance. I feel embarrassed to be a Brit when I see Lammy on the world stage.

Parsley1234 · 14/02/2025 22:33

@TheNuthatch ohhhhhh 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️well that’s a mistake

BurntBroccoli · 15/02/2025 09:29

@Feckedupbundle

"Interestingly,there were a lot of tenant farmers on the coach with me to London on Monday. They will be hit too,as they explained. If their land owner's family have to sell land to pay the tax bill,are they going to sell the land that they themselves are farming,or the land that their tenant is farming? And that tenant will still get stung as when inheritance tax is calculated,they list everything,the land, buildings,equipment,vehicles,livestock,chemicals,tools,they even count the bales of hay and straw in the shed. "

Won't the tenancy just transfer to the next owner if it is an Agricultural Holdings Act, AHA tenancy? Unless there are very specific reasons for sale I.e the land is being redeveloped. In which case the tenant will be paid off.

YABU to recycle a snarky little insult used to belittle one woman so that you can belittle another.

Exactly. It’s pretty pathetic isn’t it. Maybe we should start talking about Kier from
admin.

Parsley1234 · 15/02/2025 10:39

The reason Rachel from accounts has stuck is because she’s completely incompetent she is also a liar. Her cv has no truth in it whatsoever

Well, that wouldn't be that far from truth. Was it his chief of staff who called Starmer HR Manager not a leader?

TheNuthatch · 15/02/2025 14:24

Maybe it should be Rach from Customer Services who buys handbags on her company credit card, and doesn't know what a decade is? That would be more accurate.
I usually hate silly names but in this case, it is thoroughly deserved. She's a liar.

Parsley1234 · 15/02/2025 16:56

@TheNuthatch ahhhh yes a liar and a cheat who is such a pre fabricator of the truth that we all can see and still Starmer stands beside her

You mean when he was DPP? You'd be hard pushed to find anyone who would have criticised his leadership then, seeing as he pretty much turned the CPS on its head with far-reaching improvements. His staff all spoke really highly of him, sorry to disappoint you. So no, Keir from admin would be about as inaccurate as Rachel from Accounts/ Angela from Housing is deeply misogynistic.

The Times reported that these comments were made in the early days of Starmer's leadership of the labour party. McSweeney was not referencing Starmers time as DPP, he was talking about his leadership skills, or lack of!

Unless you're suggesting that Labour Together were influencing the then DPP.

Clavinova · 15/02/2025 21:36

The Guardian have amended their figures - Schools Week have not;

Guardian - This article was amended on 20 January 2025. The closure of 847 schools from 2013 to 2023 is an average of 77 a year, not nearly 85 a year as an earlier version said.

Parsley1234 · 15/02/2025 19:04

@Whatafustercluck Jimmy saville

Maybe try reading some independent sources than listening to a lying, cheating disgrace of an ex Tory PM and the Daily Mail.

Whatafustercluck · 16/02/2025 09:15

@TheNuthatch I'm saying that someone with the leadership skills clearly apparent during his time as DPP is highly unlikely to suddenly become a terrible leader overnight. And if that was how he was genuinely (?) viewed in the early days of his leadership of the Labour Party, then all the more remarkable it is that he led the Labour Party to their biggest election victory in 25 years. Particularly when we know exactly how divided the internal politics of the Labour Party has always been about centrists being in charge and how resistant to change many in the party are.

McSweeney knows Starmer far better than you or I ever will, and his comments about Starmer being more like a HR manager were nothing to do with his time as DPP. No-one on this thread has mentioned that either so I'm not sure why you keep pivoting there.
Starmer's popularity has plummeted since he became PM so your high opinion of him isn't shared by many. If I was a Starmer fan I'd be devastated by his behaviour and the policies of the current government, not trying to find historical examples of good leadership.

1457bloom · 16/02/2025 10:43

Standing by Angela from Accounts is not a good move from Starmer. He needs to toughen up and let her go.
