Ainu to think Angela Rayners has been set up to fail on her 1.5m homes target ?
you can barely get planning permission through for a small extension in under 10 weeks let alone 1.5 m new homes
Every month that goes by the shortage compounds
I wonder if Kier has set her up to fail

Well that's cheered me up Chard! It's not looking good is it!

Sorry!

It’s all coming up roses isn’t it?

You forgot Musk, Trump and Brexit. Don't forget to blame them for the budget too

How could I, all those bots everywhere!

TheNuthatch · 10/02/2025 10:33

According to Sky, Reeves has called the heads of the top banks to an urgent meeting on Wednesday. She wants to discuss growth!
WTAF! Why didn't she do this BEFORE the budget?

ClassicBBQ · 10/02/2025 10:33

Money obviously talks. We needed permission to remove a very small garden wall and it took months of meetings, neighbour support, architect drawings, flood reports, environmental reports...all for a wall that measured 50cm x 2m! I couldn't understand how anyone managed to get through planning considering we had to do all that for something so minor that didn't affect anything at all. Then I realised that we didn't have a fat brown envelope to hand over.

But also she blatantly hasn't got any ideas herself

Panicking. What use is that now

'Fixing the foundations' another load of nonsense.

Car crash to recession more like

ThatsNotMyTeen · 10/02/2025 10:34

YABVU to call the deputy Prime Minister “Angela from housing”

marshmallowmix · 10/02/2025 10:35

TheNuthatch · 10/02/2025 10:02

Agreed. Starmer is ruthless and will protect himself at any cost. Despite being First Lord of the Treasury, he will try and distance himself from Reeves when the time comes to save his own skin. I notice he's abroad a lot when there is bad news on the economy.

He has been abroad more than he has been in the UK since he came in to power... he cannot cope and is out of his depth...

On the private jets he + Labour criticised the Tories for using

LostittoBostik · 10/02/2025 10:37

@EasternStandard Of course she did before... this is just one they're announcing to make something to put on the 24 hour news cycle.

This is incidentally why I think politics needs to stop pandering to the demand for news content. People read way too much into what they do announced (eg "why are they only doing this now?" When the real question is "why are they talking about this particular meeting publicly, and stayed silent about all the others?")

LostittoBostik · 10/02/2025 10:38

@nearlylovemyusername Why do you think Labour is neutral to Putin? I can't see how you've drawn that conclusion.

@LostittoBostik did you read the FT post? Do you see what the issue is with the job market?

Parsley1234 · 10/02/2025 10:40

@ThatsNotMyTeen she’s VVU taking the job she’s out of her depth

LostittoBostik · 10/02/2025 10:40

@nearlylovemyusername yes sorry I did somehow misread your earlier posts - I thought you'd said you were a Labour-Reform switcher. Apologies. I just have confused your thread of replies with another poster

LostittoBostik · 10/02/2025 10:41

@EasternStandard Yes, but that doesn't answer my point.... she obvs had meetings with the banks before the budget

TheNuthatch · 10/02/2025 10:41

Listening to Chris Mason on R4 this morning, tonight's news will show film of migrants being rounded up in nail salons etc.
It seems Starmer has gone all Trumpian.

Oh my...

That'll work for them (not). They are looking at the polls after all

LostittoBostik · 10/02/2025 10:44

Parsley1234 · 10/02/2025 09:55

@LostittoBostik they have completely trashed the economy their unbelievably short sighted policies have killed any green shoots which we had when Sunak was out. Their uncosted un realistic policies are ideological and damaging to every single one in this country. Mad Ed is going for broke he shouldn’t even be in charge of a petrol pump let alone the money Reeves gave him last week Rayner pull up the ladder behind you Phillipson chippy Reeves put her deapth cooper sane Starmer well what can I say a total tool (makers son) who went to a fee paying school by luck !

You're entitled to your view that the economy is in a worse place because of labour policies. I personally disagree.

The rest of your post is just a string of classist personal insults. It's depressing. Why not engage with the substance of the debate instead of using these weird nicknames? I know the left does this too. I hate it on both sides. It's so demeaning of our democracy.

marshmallowmix · 10/02/2025 10:44

twistyizzy · 10/02/2025 09:55

I mean those of us fighting against VAT on education had a good idea as we had experience of trying to engage with Phillipson during the election. Hence why I didn't vote Labour for first time in my life, I also now will never vote for them again after this lot!

yep @twistyizzy she is another level of useless...I've a family member in the sector trying to engage with this last year and consensus was that they hoped someone with common sense would step in to the room and stop it ....it is madness and driven by ideology...hell bent on destroying stuff - businesses, schools, farms....let's hope they can't somehow do another 4 years it is the lunatics running the asylum at the moment...

LostittoBostik · 10/02/2025 10:46

@marshmallowmix But we have a massive job to reclaim our place in the world after Brexit. If he didn't get involved in overseas diplomacy the economy would be in an even worse place and there would be so much bitching about him hiding in Downing Street letting our previous world leader status slip away. There's no right answer for him in terms of perception. Situation would be the same for any Tory leader. Or LD. Or Reform.

I mean pretty much every economic commentator agrees that Labour are screwing the economy so it's not just the opinion of a few posters on MN.

MrsSkylerWhite · 10/02/2025 10:47

Grow up.

Parsley1234 · 10/02/2025 10:47

@LostittoBostik which part of the economy is better please ? I’m very keen to know
