Ainu to think Angela Rayners has been set up to fail on her 1.5m homes target ?
you can barely get planning permission through for a small extension in under 10 weeks let alone 1.5 m new homes
Every month that goes by the shortage compounds
I wonder if Kier has set her up to fail

MN has never been pro labour

Seriously?* *

EasternStandard · 09/02/2025 20:39

@bemoresloth of course it has but it's more mixed now which I can understand some won't like

As for Reform it's taken Labour policies to really get their support going. I thought that might happen so no surprises so far.

Yeh I must have mis-read all of those pro-Labour Tory bashing posts during the election. Or the 1000s of "Tory bot" comments every time someone criticised any Labour policy. Those have significantly declined now as the car crash of a Labour government unfolds

bemoresloth · 09/02/2025 20:43

Yes really but maybe that is your own bias showing Smile

More Conservative voters have turned to Reform than Labour. Maybe something the Conservative Party should address?

Yep and each time Labour fuck up/lie/come across as arrogant and out of touch (so basically every day) they drive more people to Reform.

Yes I was, and it was like Tory whack a mole.
Do you honestly think MN was balanced then?

They think Labour aren't screwing up the economy so yeh they probably do!

EasternStandard · 09/02/2025 20:50

@bemoresloth they've done so due to Labour policies. Look at the uptick since the GE

There's a while to go so we'll see what happens

twistyizzy · 09/02/2025 20:52

bemoresloth · 09/02/2025 18:53

Not a crashed economy though as has been claimed

Again, by the metrics that Labour claim Truss crashed the economy by, Labour have exceeded those metrics.
It was Labour who brought in the "crashed the economy" phrase, they should hold themselves to the same standards and criteria that they held Truss to. They demanded she resign when the gilts weren't as bad as they have been under Reeves.

Probably more united against the Tories, but after 14 years and the Johnson /Truss debacle that wasn't really a surprise, was it now? More GTTO than pro Labour

Have you got those metrics handy?

Are you saying that Truss didn't crash the economy? She send Starmer a letter didn't she?

For the millionth time I am saying Labour claimed she crashed the economy and demanded her resignation. They then did exactly the same thing!
The data is out there for anyone to see and indeed i gave you several links on an earlier post.
So basically it is 1 rule for Labour and another for anyone else?
They should hold themselves to the same standard as they hold other people.
Reeves called for Truss to resign ergo Reeves should resign cos she did exactly the same thing to gilts/bonds

I disagree, but even if that was true, are you now surprised that the sentiment may now have changed to Get Labour Out?

Truss did send a cease and desist letter because Starmer's threshold for 'crashed the economy' had been matched by Reeves. Either they both crashed it, or neither did.

More than 3 years to go. Let's give them more than 8 months to undo the 14 year of damage Smile

Maybe worry more about the direction the Conservatives are going.

Why would I worry about the direction of the conservatives? They're not in power so not affecting anyone's daily life. My government is Labour.
As for 14 years of damage to correct, this government have unbelievably made things worse. Three more years of Labour wrecking the economy! No wonder voters are turning to reform.

nearlylovemyusername · 09/02/2025 21:09

In the run up to election with all hysteria of GTTO I said that vote for Labour in Jul 24 will mean Reform at least in coalition in 2029. So far it's looking very likely

Don't you want an effective oppostion party?

And people turning to Reform should really pay more attention to their policies

Yes you were spot on. Reform also came second to Labour in 89 seats, and that was before the shit show commenced.

What are you even doing on this site, bloke? With your nasty little misogynist insults and your lecturing tone? Go and bore some men in a pub somewhere.

I'd prefer an effective government but that's obviously asking too much!

Sherbs12 · 09/02/2025 21:15

There definitely has been a shift on here recently - there was a clearly American OP pretending to be a ‘Brit’ outraged by immigration, another pro-Reform OP who was praising the BNP’s Nick Griffin and posters rushing to demand why the AfD were being described as far-right, in the last few weeks.

Quite telling that a few posters are solely blaming the Labour Party / government for the rise in right-wing populism and opportunists like Farage and co. No consideration that the Tories moved their narratives further and further right to pander to / desperately cling onto potential Reform voters. They rode in on the coat-tails of Brexit - thanks to Cameron and Johnson. The rhetoric of Jenrick and Braverman now is increasingly abhorrent (and show impressive levels of amnesia and a total lack of responsibility). Or how about Reform having to finally take some accountability for the way they conduct politics / run their business? Or the role of the media (e.g GB News) and social media (X, in particular) to keep spreading misinformation, and bias, and this rolling news cycle of bandwagons for politicians to jump on.

Labour have lost voters in traditional Labour areas, they have made unpopular decisions, they have had ministers who deserve to be sacked, some of their policies have been very divisive - let’s not be under any illusion that they are perfect. No government ever has been or will be. However, they came to government under extremely difficult conditions and are, for the most part, working hard to rectify a lot of the disasters (e.g. NHS waiting lists), debt (corrupt COVID contracts, for one ) and delayed decisions(Waspi, Windrush, Chagos, blood scandal, Post Office) that the Tories failed on.
