For me it's people.
Other than partner and kids , I have 2 family members, Mum and sister, and we live so far apart we rarely speak or meet up. We have nothing in common.
I have 3 friends I see every month or so.
I'm envious of people that come from big loving families.
I can go for days without speaking to anyone outside of my household. I used to be quite a sociable person. Now I have no confidence.
Loneliness sucks.

I'm close, I'd say meaningful friendships. I talk a lot at work (WFH mostly) and with other parents at DSs school/clubs etc ~ but only have a couple of friends who I rarely see who I can be open with/have a proper laugh/vent.

That being said, I have no time in my life to be a good friend anyway! It's definitely an area I acknowledge I've dropped the ball in to make space for parenting/work/caring.

Physical contact, both affectionate and sexual. Only get to see my fiance one overnight a week, so from mid dayish, overnight til early evening the next day. It's just not enough but not something we can change at the moment due to distance apart, him not being able to travel at all due to illness, and me not being able to drive for medical reasons so needing to get driven there by my dad, who as well as being my full time carer is my sisters too, so has to factor in days with her appointments, activities etc on when hes available.

More good books, more wins for my football club who I've supported since 1969, though they've only lost once this season (guess who I support 😁).

Apart from that, and more importantly I want/ need reassurance that the seemingly minor (indigestion/bloating) things my adult child has had for over 3 months, is nothing to worry about.

Money! Lots of it ideally but I’d settle for just a bit more.
Everything else in my life is really quite lovely, so I shouldn’t complain I suppose!

Time. I could fix all my other issues with time.

Time to shop for and prepare more fresh fruit and veg. More time for exercise. More time for sleep. More time for work so less stress. More time to help my kids with homework / uniform / fun things. More time to spend with my husband. More time to give the cat attention. More time to clean. More time to keep in touch with my family. More time to wash the car, go to the charity shop, volunteer, organise the filing, clear out the shed, paint the woodwork, deep clean the oven, remember to book dd an asthma review, generally be organised, think about nice outfits, polish my shoes. More time to delete the 8000 emails in my work inbox and god knows how many in my personal one. Why does life have to be so full up all the time.

I am lonely too. I live alone and work from home. I don’t see enough people and I don’t have a partner

Time alone. I'm lucky to have an amazing job and a close family. But there's not a moment just for me.

@FashionCrazy so many things on this thread!

Meaningful friendships definitely! I have tried so hard to make new friends but those friendships are still in their infancy, I miss having strong effortless friendships where I can be truly myself.

Time - oh to have time to do all the million jobs that need done in my house and garden! And still have time to do the nice things, hike up mountains and see friends and read and self care.

Redhairandhottubs · 07/02/2025 21:06

Time with my partner. We live half an hour apart, both have young adult DC, needy dogs and full on jobs so never seem to get enough time together.

Other than that, life is pretty good. I'm very lucky.
