It's like a parallel universe - how did America come to this? So now he plans to ethnically cleanse Gaza we are told - to create the 'Riviera of the Middle East.' A golf course and hotels probably. The £2 million people can just go wherever. Wtf! AIBU to think America is imploding in on itself?

Have you read how Elon Musk has moved some of his (young) employees into Govt offices?

He's getting into their systems and replacing their code.

There is no knowing what he's accessing and what he's going to change

That's even more terrifying

Read Heather Cox Richardson on Facebook

Just been and looked at that Facebook post. 😳😮😫

He's not planning on giving them homes. They're all going to be dumped in Egypt and Jordan, apparently.

He’s temporarily relocating them to other countries whilst Gaza is being rebuilt. Not by himself or Americans, but with the assistance of other Arab countries, if he can get them onboard. As it is currently, Gaza is like a gigantic refugee camp - with a lot of homeless people. What do others think should be done here? Hamas should in theory be rebuilding, but we all know they won’t.

All of this nonsense about Greenland, Gaze etc is a distraction. It's designed to make us all look this way while he quietly destroys the US government in the background.

I don't think Greenland is a distraction although today's Gaza announcement might be

The US are going for a great big US raft, isolated

EarthSight · 05/02/2025 20:04

Loveumagenta · 05/02/2025 17:48

He’s fucking bananas and I don’t see how any of this is going to Make ordinary Americans any richer which is presumably why they voted for him. Though he is chucking people out of the country pretty sharpish which is pleasing a lot of MAGAs.

If he carries on he's going to seriously piss off the millions of voters who did vote for him. They wanted more focus on domestic issues, whereas Trump seems to be flailing about, one international land grab attempt after another currently.

EasternStandard · 05/02/2025 20:04

Posted by mistake..

They are going for defence, withdrawing troops and aid and maybe something to do with NATO

WhineAndWine1 · 05/02/2025 20:07

There is a great opinion piece in the NY times in faceted the released it on TikTok. It's all about how we shouldn't believe him when he comes out with this stuff, he's using this rapid firing because he doesn't have an actual plan and it would be more concerning if he went in quietly and took him time.

I probably haven't explained it every well but it's by Ezra Khan if anyone wants to take a look

WhineAndWine1 · 05/02/2025 20:08

So sorry for the typos!

MyFlightWasAwfulThanksForAsking · 05/02/2025 17:39

Exactly. The fuckwits voted for him knowing what he was like.

They share the twisted vision.
What dies "relocating the Palestinians" sound like, fgs.

It’s the Musk stuff that’s the most terrifying. He’s systematically working his way through all government departments and taking over. If I were American I’d be very scared about my banking details right now, I’m not entirely comfortable at this distance. That’s before you look at what’s happening with the FBI

Musk scares me far more than Trump and I find Trump pretty terrifying. That an unelected and clearly very right wing person has managed to buy their way right into the heart of government is profoundly worrying. Trump is old, clearly physically unfit and very probably in cognitive decline. There is a possibility he will not see out the full term of his presidency and in the meantime Musk is shoring up his power base in readiness for full control

I'm no political expert but I think what he does is:

Propose something completely outrageous, get everybody in a panic then negociate a climbdown. He's a New York real estate developer in origin. We're kind of living in an 1980's Sidney Sheldon novel with him.

I know that I'm commiting the cardinal sin of quoting myself but I just think that he sees things through the prism of real estate and construction.

That's why he's interested in North Carolina, Palestine, Los Angeles. Build baby build. That's not automatically a bad thing. Infrastructure is a problem. Who knows? I'm not an expert.

And he'll be coming here next. He's already interfering massively in European politics.

Hazeby · 05/02/2025 20:16

The US troops are going to be very busy. They’ve got to invade Panama, Greenland, Canada and Gaza all in the next four years. The overtime bill will be immense.

AcrossthePond55 · 05/02/2025 20:17

Mrsbloggz · 05/02/2025 19:23

I know that you are far far better placed than me to judge this, but I still think that Trump will make mincemeat of Musk.
As much as I abhor the man I think he's a much wilier old fox than Musk is.

Time will tell. If Trump's ego gets too bruised by all the posts about "President Musk" and "Vice President Trump" and saying that Musk is leading him around by the nose, you might be right. But I think Trump may find it harder to get rid of him than we think. Musk is wily too, and I think sneakily savvier than Trump, who has no subtlety himself. He only knows how to convince others to do his dirty work rather than subtly doing it himself. God only knows what dirt Musk may have dug up on Trump in his trolling through the Govt financial systems, which include the IRS database. And Musk knows that he's not eligible to be President so he needs a 'useful idiot' to carry out his commands. Plus sometimes it's better to be the power behind the throne than to sit the throne oneself. Easier to dodge the bullets.

One of the problems with dragging trash around on your coattails is that it can be awful hard to shake off.

YourHappyJadeEagle · 05/02/2025 20:18

If he wasn’t such a danger to the world I’d say he’s just like the worst attention seeking child you sometimes get in a class. Don’t care what attention they get, how negative it is, as long as they get attention. It’s almost like an addiction with Trump.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 05/02/2025 20:18

Seriouslynonono · 05/02/2025 19:55

True

Respectfully, that view is arrogant. I'm not trying to start anything with you, just trying to point out the people deserve a say. They claim that land. They don't want a landlord, nor an American demagogue as a saviour. iykwim

So since Trump was inaugurated he has at break neck speed
Sent troops to the border.
Stopped catch and release
Sent a clear message to illegal aliens and illegal criminals
Declared war on the drug gangs.
Negotiated an agreement with Mexico to at least attempt to stop the drugs crossing into usa.
Called out Trudeau for his lax attitude to illegal drugs and got a result in that canada will reinforce the border.
Set into law the Laken Reilly act.
Has started cost cutting in all govt depts. And calling outridiculous wastage of tax payers money . Sorry when have we heard those words here.
Wants people back to the office to increase productivity. ( I'm all for that )
The politicians are always at the trough . What have the dems really being doing with USAID
Seems a bit of money laundering going on
This is totally refreshing as a voter.
As for Gaza,
I mean why should trillions of dollars be thrown at gaza for it to obliterated again and again.i think we need to wait and see what happens. If the usa were in Gaza that's it hopefully peace. In actual fact I am enjoying a non career politician working the govt as a business and having respect for the American tax payers.he is America first and has never started any war in his last 4 years. He certainly does not want US deaths so let's wait and see.
If the same thing is done to " help" gaza again sure it will be back to square one in no time
What was instigated before does NOT work. Its a total-hi% hole .needs to be leveled is right Hamas are evil personified plus they
depend on the world defending gaza and you know what if clearing it stops senseless violence so be it

Anyone follow Riley Gaines??
She is delighted he has brought into law no men in women's sports. To me common sense is prevailing and DEI which was completely ridiculous is being replaced ny people getting jobs on merit. He is calling a halt on trans ideology

See crime rates down in NYC. Funny how goos America with real leadership and not a puppet is coming across.
He is refreshing . I must admit Gaza floored me but I hate Hamas so hey let's pull the rug from under their terrorist arses and see what happens.

Canada had already agreed to that in December. We didn’t add anything that wasn’t already set in motion.

Trump literally gained nothing other than inspiring a bunch of Canadians to be more patriotic.

User37482 · 05/02/2025 20:22

I think it’s opening bid, say you are going to invade gaza, (no intention of doing it) scare everyone to the negotiating table.

Cerial · 05/02/2025 20:23

Parker231 · 05/02/2025 18:51

With ethnic cleansing ??

I must have missed that announcement … are the Palestinians getting rid of the Israelis???

Esp considering he's just signed a hiring freeze and an order for wfh employees to rtw in office even if their wfh arrangement pre-dated Covid. They could lose a lot of employees.

They've never had a say in anything though. I can't see that changing anytime soon to be honest.
And they must be beyond mentally and physically shattered now.

Personally I would take my chances with a tent rather than be beholden to Trump. But that's me. I have no idea what I would settle for if I'd just been bombed, chased and hunted for 18 months.

Cerial · 05/02/2025 20:26

Gymnopedie · 05/02/2025 19:29

What I really fear is that Musk is being set up to be the next President. Either by himself or by Trump, by him having an inside track to government. And if he manages not to completely crash America I can see the Republicans might well go for it. Trump has been a winner for them, Musk would be Trump mk2.

Musk is a very very dangerous loose canon. He could (you wouldn't think it was possible) be worse than the Orange One.

Musk was not born in America, so ineligible to be President. (And not a citizen by birth)

Definitely. I hate this "leader of the free world" bullshit.

Except he is arguably the most powerful man on the planet. All that is happening in America WILL affect us at some point down the line. Especially considering us British are still, on paper, allies.
