Heard this evening alot of Canadians cancelling their holidays to USA. I certainly wont be travelling to it while musk, his puppet the orange one, or vance are in any way in charge.

We’re now limiting our trips south of the border to seeing DSil (has retained her Canadian citizenship) in Aspen in CO - which is very international and to friends just over the border in Burlington, VT.
As much as we enjoy our holidays to other parts of the US, there is nothing we don’t have here in Canada.

Just as well as it's not quite true. On Google maps the Gulf of Mexico is still the Gulf of Mexico, with Gulf of America in brackets to appease the orange peril.

I think the Mexican president pointed out there are rules governing how international waters are named (or at least that there is a process that needs to be followed for renaming them).

Russian birth and death rates have fluctuated quite a bit due to major events. The most notable was the demographic "death cross" in the 1990s where deaths outnumbered births; this sent the Russians down a dark path of population decline. Despite some brief recoveries throughout the past few decades, new data out of Russia has confirmed things have worsened.
That recent Russian data is likely overly optimistic, so things are bad. Combine that bleak demographic outlook with no improvements to infrastructure, education, or public health, and you can do the math. Of course, the Ukraine War has accelerated this crisis, as the Russians have sent wave after wave into the meat grinder. That current strategy is unsustainable, but a victory in Ukraine could at least put a little bit of air into the Russians' lungs. A loss or stagnation would suck even more air out.
Either way, Russia is quickly hacking away at its final opportunity at demographic recovery, which brings long-term viability as a functional state into question.

I watched this interesting Times Radio youtube video today....it is an interview with David Cay Johnston a Pullitzer prize winning journalist. He has 37 year knowledge of trump. He is fairly scathing about him and his business acumen. Sadly it seems beyond the maga set to watch it, acknowledge it or indeed believe it.

Inevitably, there are an awful lot of rather sad posts on social media from people who have lost their jobs having voted for Trump. They were all convinced that whoever he meant when he talked about getting rid of useless employees, it couldn't possibly be them.

I mean, make no mistake, Russia is broke - no money and now it can't even boast the biggest population, something it always relied on. Bot farms have been a good investment for them though, got them Trump who might be their best hope of becoming a threat to Europe again.

I reckon Trump has a thing about getting pals with Russia because its the place that was America's boogeyman through his childhood and early adulthood and he thinks the world will see him as having 'tamed' Russia because he's such a great 'dealmaker'. Whereas of course, Russia has tamed him.

I don't believe he's been blackmailed, or cut some kind of deal to act for Russia. He just had no clue he's being played. Unfortunately, that's pretty dangerous for the world, especially Europe.

Quite from random Ukrainian on radio 'everyone in E Europe knows Trump is a Russian asset'. Nobody in US appears to be aware of this. This isn't going to end well and its not going to go Trump's way but its going to take a while to get there.

It's true that they aren't too bright:
